Abstract

Population growth has led to a significant increase in solid waste generation. In Semarang City, approximately 1,110 tons of waste are produced daily. One of the waste management initiatives implemented by the Environmental Agency is the waste bank program. However, this program has not yet been implemented in all areas. In Tlogosari Kulon Subdistrict, for example, no active waste bank group currently operates the program, despite the area being a densely populated residential zone and a flood-prone area. This condition contributes to environmental pollution, unpleasant odors, and potential disease transmission. Through this community service program, it is expected that residents of Kampung Pancasila Tlogosari Kulon will not only gain knowledge but also develop practical skills to manage household waste independently. The methods applied include interactive educational approaches and hands-on practice. The results indicate a significant increase in participants’ average level of understanding, from 42% at the initial stage to 86% after the program. This improvement was driven by direct practical activities, including waste segregation, eco-enzyme production, biopore infiltration holes, and composting. Overall, the program successfully enhanced participants’ environmental awareness, enthusiasm, and active involvement in sustainable household waste management.

Abstract

The lack of adequate lighting in Widoro I – Perbalan 3 increases security risks and limits community activities at night. This program provides an independent and sustainable street-lighting solution through the installation of a 1500 W portable solar-powered street lighting (PJU) system. The implementation method integrates the diffusion of appropriate technology, training, and the ABCD approach to ensure technical sustainability and community involvement. The activities include a needs survey, technical planning, installation, socialization, and monitoring. The results indicate an increase in illuminance from 2–3 lux to 25–30 lux, a panel efficiency of 21%, and the availability of backup power for up to three days. The motion sensor system has been proven to improve energy efficiency and expand lighting coverage. Socially, the program increases nighttime activities by 65% and enhances perceptions of environmental safety. This program demonstrates that the application of portable solar-powered street lighting can serve as an effective, efficient, and replicable appropriate-technology model for residential areas with limited access to energy. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy between renewable energy technology and community empowerment to achieve local energy independence.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted to enhance the technical abilities of the management team of Mushola Aljabbar, Tawangrejo, Pati regency, in operating and maintaining the audio system used for religious and social activities. The main problems identified include limited knowledge of audio installation, insufficient understanding of maintenance procedures, and difficulties in handling minor technical issues. The program employed a participatory training method that consisted of theoretical sessions, hands-on installation practice, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting simulations. Participants also took pre-test and post-test evaluations. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ competencies, demonstrated by an average score increase of 39.16%. Participants were able to perform basic installation, conduct routine maintenance, and independently solve common technical problems. This program had a positive impact on improving audio quality in the mushola and increasing the management’s self-reliance. Continuous training is recommended to ensure adaptability to technological developments in audio systems.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented to address the limited technical knowledge and skills of residents in Kemambang Village regarding the provision of safe drinking water, while also strengthening local water management institutions. The activities were conducted using a participatory approach that combined the ABCD method, demonstrations, practices, and the application of appropriate technology. Evaluation results show an increase in community knowledge from a score of 3.13 to 4.60, and an improvement in technical skills from 2.68 to 4.40 after the training. The establishment of the Village Water Management Group (KPAD) indicates growing social capacity and collective commitment toward sustainable water management. The program also generated economic benefits through the adoption of simple, low-cost filtration systems that reduced household expenses. Overall, the program successfully enhanced community capacity in managing safe drinking water and supported village self-reliance in water service provision.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) oriented toward export markets are required to possess well-structured financial administration systems and professional product promotion media. However, Iluh Craft MSME has faced challenges in the form of non-standardized financial recordkeeping and limited digital marketing tools, which potentially hinder operational efficiency and export readiness. This community service activity aimed to design and implement a financial administration system and a digital product catalog to enhance business management orderliness and marketing preparedness at Iluh Craft MSME. The implementation employed a descriptive–participatory approach through interviews, observations, documentation, system design, phased implementation, and joint evaluation with the partner. The results demonstrated a reduction in financial recording errors from approximately ±20% to less than 5%, an improvement in administrative time efficiency of up to ±40%, and fully organized document archiving reaching 100%. In addition, a bilingual digital product catalog was successfully developed and utilized as a promotional medium and sales reference. It can be concluded that the implementation of a structured financial administration system and a digital product catalog has a significant positive impact on operational efficiency, business professionalism, and the sustainable export readiness of Iluh Craft MSME.
