This journal facilitates the publication of research results, field research, textual analysis, and literature study. The journal is published regularly twice a year in June and December. LITERAKOM: Jurnal Literasi dan Komunikasi aims to encourage research in social sciences and communication studies, addressing topics such as media and digital literacy, media and cultural studies, journalism, public relations, communication management, strategic communication, public communication, educational communication, business communication, environmental communication, and other communication scientific studies.

Abstract

Mothers who pursue higher education often face negative stereotypes due to patriarchal culture. Therefore, it is important to advocate for mother-student groups and provide them with support. The PhD Mama Indonesia community is one such support system that spreads its ideas through various internet-based media platforms. This paper examines the communication planning of the PhD Mama Indonesia social movement community in conducting digital activism, specifically through their Instagram account @phdmamaindonesia. The research is qualitative, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews with the head of the Creative Design and Instagram Division, observation of uploads on Instagram @phdmamaindonesia, and supporting literature. The research findings indicate that the community employs four stages of communication planning, namely the Share, Optimize, Manage, and Engage stages, as proposed by the Circular Model of SoMe by Regina Luttrell. However, the implementation of these stages was not optimal in some cases due to the voluntary membership and lack of external funding assistance of PhD Mama Indonesia community. Their Instagram account remains active due to the common interests of the members, which is typical of digital activism.

Abstract

This research discusses the use of the Spotify application as new media for music streaming services in generation Z. The focus of this research is the music consumption behavior of social sciences faculty students. This research uses a qualitative approach and uses and gratifications theory as a theoretical basis. Data was obtained through literature study and interviews with related sources. The research results show that the Spotify application provides various features that meet the needs of its users, such as ease of finding new music, creating personal playlists, and podcast features that support self-development. Spotify is not only a platform for listening to music, but also meets the psychological and emotional needs of its users. With the existence of new media such as spotify, it has modernized the consumtion behaviour of studentes who use spotify as a forum for shanneling public speaking talents and even as a medium for channeling feelings.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of Public Relations of the Indonesian Islamic Da'wah Institute (LDII) in communicating the vision, mission, and activities of the organization to the public and building a positive image of the organization. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with LDII's public relations officers, direct observation of public communication activities conducted by LDII, and analysis of documents and media publications issued by the organization. The results showed that LDII's PR plays a strategic role in disseminating information related to LDII's programs and activities, strengthening relationships with the media, and establishing effective communication with members and the wider community. LDII PR has also proven effective in building a positive image of the organization through a transparent, consistent, and responsive approach to issues in the community. This research provides insight into the important role of communication in religious organizations and the contribution of PR in supporting the achievement of LDII's goals.

Abstract

In every organization or company there is always conflict. Conflict is something that is natural and permanent, always there. The purpose of this research is to analyze how Budiman supermarket handles conflicts that occur. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods of observation, interviews and documentation. This research uses the theory of basic human needs that can trigger conflict. The results of this study discuss how conflicts are viewed, the kinds of conflicts, the causes of conflicts, the process of conflicts, and conflict resolution strategies at Budiman Supermarket. As well as explaining that there are various human needs that can trigger conflict in Budiman supermarket. And organizational communication plays an important role in resolving conflicts that occur.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of digitalization on innovation and collaboration in the Novo Club organization, an initiative of PT Paragon Technology and Innovation that focuses on youth development. Based on Manuel Castells' theory of network society, this research explores how digitalization affects operational performance, member interactions, and the value of novelty generated. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with data collected through field observations and in-depth interviews with Public Relations staff at Novo Club Regional 8. The results showed that digitalization improves operational efficiency, facilitates access to information, and strengthens collaboration and innovation. Digital platforms used by Novo Club, such as social media, Zoom, and YouTube, enable better coordination and dynamic exchange of ideas, accelerate the innovation process and expand the community network. The findings enrich the literature on the implementation of digital technologies in youth-focused organizations and provide new insights into the role of technology in improving organizational performance and innovation.

Abstract

Film is an artistic expression that not only functions as entertainment, but also as a means of conveying moral messages and character building. This film, which was released on November 2 2023, carries a deep message. This film is the film "Budi Pekerti" by Wregas Bhanuteja. "Budi Pekerti" not only presents an emotionally moving story, but also considers the impact of technology on character formation. Through the main character who faces various obstacles in life in this world, this film conveys the message of the importance of ethics in interacting on social media and provides an overview of the phenomenon of moral degradation due to irresponsible behavior on social media. The aim of this research is to identify the representation of the moral message contained in the film "Budi Pekerti." The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with John Fiske's semiotic framework, utilizing a constructivist paradigm. The subject of this research is the film "Budi Pekerti". The research results show forms of moral messages in films such as politeness, technological wisdom, and responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze media relations activities carried out by public relations of the Ponorogo Regency DPRD in the public relations model. By using four Grunig public relations models, namely Press Agentry / Publicity, Public Information, Two-Ways Asymmetrical, Two-Ways Symmetrical. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results of this study show that the Public Relations of the Ponorogo Regency DPRD uses the press agentry/publicity model to obtain the widest coverage of information and spread a positive image of the institution. The Public Relations of the DPRD Kabupten Ponorogo uses the public information model to disseminate fast, precise, and accurate information. The Public Relations of the Ponorogo Regency DPRD uses a two-ways asymmetrical model more towards a communication approach that focuses on maintaining a positive image. With the two-way symmetrical model, the public relations of the Ponorogo Regency DPRD strives to provide useful information, maintain good communication with the community.

Abstract

Sexuality remains a taboo topic, particularly regarding early adolescents. The film Monster presents an engaging narrative that explores the experiences of LGBTQ adolescents as they navigate their sexuality. This study employs Semiotic Analysis based on C.S. Peirce’s triangle of meaning to examine the signs and meanings that represent homosexuality during early adolescence. Additionally, it analyzes the forms of acceptance and rejection of homosexuality as depicted by the characters and observed by others in Monster. The findings indicate that the experiences of LGBTQ adolescents are predominantly tragic due to an unsupportive environment. The film illustrates subtle gestures through which adolescents express their LGBTQ identity, such as coming out and the concept of the closet.

Abstract

Somethinc is a local beauty and skin care brand from Indonesia that was established with a vision to provide innovative and effective skin care solutions for Asian skin. Somethinc is one of the most famous local brands in the Indonesian beauty industry. Somethinc offers a variety of products that are specially formulated for Indonesian skin so that makes the local products suitable for beauty enthusiasts, especially in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach and perception theory as a theoretical foundation. The purpose of this research is to explore the perception of several local make up brands on students of Esa Unggul Tangerang University obtained through literature study and interview methods. Research shows that the majority of students have a positive perception of the quality of Somethinc make up products. In addition to quality and price, the packaging aspect is also an important element that affects the attractiveness of some Somethinc make-up products in the eyes of consumers. Somethinc's success in attracting young consumers, especially Esa Unggul University students, can be shown through the combination of high quality, affordable price, and attractive packaging. Overall, by continuing to innovate and strengthen its marketing strategy, Somethinc has great potential to expand its market share and maintain its position as the top choice in the increasingly competitive cosmetics industry. Abstract

Media has become an inseparable staple in people's lives. Its presence has expanded to become an inseparable part of our daily routine. Therefore, people will be very dependent on the use of media. New media was born from today's technological advancements and gave rise to various types of new media in communication, one of which is YouTube. YouTube is a very famous platform for video sharing where users can upload, watch and share videos free of charge. One trend that is gaining popularity among many people is watching others eat through broadcasts known as mukbang. There is also a lot of enthusiasm for this content, this happens because it displays appetizing food, thus impacting affective changes in its audience, giving a long-term effect to continue watching it.
