Abstract

T This study investigates the communication strategies utilized by the Regional General Elections Commission (KPUD) of Sijunjung Regency to enhance political participation among first-time voters. As a critical demographic in democratic processes, first-time voters often face challenges such as low political literacy and limited access to information. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research is framed using Harold D. Lasswell’s communication model, focusing on the elements of communicator, message, medium, audience, and effect.Findings show that KPUD Sijunjung implemented various strategies, including face-to-face outreach, digital media campaigns, and collaboration with schools and youth organizations. However, geographical barriers, limited infrastructure, and low youth engagement pose significant challenges. Despite these limitations, the strategies contributed positively to raising awareness and increasing voter participation. The study recommends adopting more adaptive communication approaches and providing ongoing civic education to strengthen participatory democracy.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of food vlogger content on the purchase intention of Gen-Z consumers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The background of this research is based on the increasing consumption of culinary content on social media and the role of food vloggers as sources of information and consumption references. This study applies buyer motivation theory, which explains that external stimuli in the form of media content can trigger psychological responses that lead to purchase intention. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which food vlogger content affects the purchase intention of Gen Z consumers. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed. Data were collected through Likert scale questionnaires from 102 Generation Z respondents who actively use social media and have watched food vlogger content. Data analysis was conducted using validity tests, reliability tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The results show that food vlogger content has a positive and significant effect on consumer purchase intention. The coefficient of determination indicates that food vlogger content accounts for 63.5 percent of the influence on purchase intention, while the remaining percentage is affected by other factors outside this study. These findings suggest that content quality, credibility, and interaction presented by food vloggers can effectively increase attention, understanding, and positive attitudes toward culinary products.

Abstract

Transformational leadership has proven to be an effective approach to human resource (HR) management in various organizations, including the public sector. This study discusses how transformational leaders can inspire, motivate, and empower employees to transcend personal interests for the greater good of the organization. With an approach based on inspiring vision, intellectual stimulation, and individual attention, transformational leadership supports employee competency development and empowerment, which in turn improves organizational performance. However, the implementation of transformational leadership in public organizations faces challenges such as resistance to change, limited resources, and rigid bureaucratic structures. Therefore, this study recommends inclusive policies that support the development of transformational leadership and collaboration between agencies, as well as providing continuous feedback as an effort to overcome existing obstacles.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the influence of bounded rationality on decision-making processes, both at the individual and organizational levels. This concept was introduced by Herbert A. Simon (1957) as a critique of the classical assumption that humans are always rational in choosing the best alternative. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and a literature review method, this study analyzes various relevant literature and research findings to illustrate the relationship between bounded rationality and the decision-making process. The analysis shows that limited rationality does not always have a negative impact. In the context of public policy, such as the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) during the COVID-19 pandemic, these limitations actually encourage decision-makers to act quickly and adaptively. However, on the other hand, bounded rationality can also pose a risk of bias, policy inconsistency, and bureaucratic inefficiency if not balanced with adequate data and technology support. Therefore, the application of digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) is an important effort to mitigate the negative impacts of bounded rationality and strengthen the public decision-making process to be more efficient, participatory, and evidence-based

Abstract

This study examines how the Public Relations (PR) unit of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport managed a written message error in an official press release, specifically the incorrect naming of an airline that had already been published by multiple media outlets. The study purpose was to analyze PR strategies in correcting the error, the construction of corrective discourse, and the dynamics of PR–media relations in post-publication correction. Using a qualitative approach, this study applies discourse analysis to the original press release and subsequent corrective communications with media organizations, guided by the four-step PR process model of Cutlip, Center, and Broom. The findings show that the PR unit identified the problem following direct notification from the affected airline, planned corrective actions by mapping media coverage, and implemented targeted communication through individualized clarification requests rather than public apologies. However, variations in media responses revealed structural constraints related to editorial autonomy. The study concludes that typographical errors in official PR communications should be understood as organizational communication failures with potential reputational implications. Effective management requires integrated message control, proactive media relations, and systematic evaluation to prevent recurrence and strengthen institutional credibility.

Abstract

Public speaking is an essential communication skill for university students, especially those studying communication and multimedia, as it supports academic performance and professional readiness. Nevertheless, many students still experience anxiety and lack confidence when speaking in public. This study aims to examine the role of self-confidence in supporting students’ public speaking abilities at the Faculty of Communication and Multimedia, Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta. This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey design. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to students and measured using a four-point Likert scale. Abstract

Culinary traditions are an important part of culture because they not only meet biological needs but also serve as a medium of cultural communication with deep social meaning. Sinonggi, a Tolaki-style dish, is one of the traditional foods with strong symbolic value in Southeast Sulawesi. The problem in this study is how the Sinonggi eating tradition contributes to the preservation and communication of the Tolaki people's cultural identity in the face of modernization and lifestyle changes. This study examines communication patterns, symbolic meanings, and cultural values associated with the Sinonggi eating tradition. This study aims to understand Sinonggi as a cultural communication medium that represents the values of togetherness, solidarity, and local wisdom among the Tolaki people. The research method used is a qualitative research method with an ethnographic communication approach, based on observations of Sinonggi's practice of eating together in the Tolaki community. This study's theoretical framework is based on Dell Hymes' concept of communication ethnography, specifically the SPEAKING model, as well as the view of culture as a meaning system. The findings indicate that Sinonggi serves as a symbol of unity and a form of nonverbal communication that strengthens social relations within the Tolaki community and across cultures. Sinonggi's communal eating tradition promotes mutual cooperation, simplicity, and respect. Sinonggi is a traditional food and cultural communication tool for the Tolaki people in Southeast Sulawesi, helping to preserve their identity and social values
