Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of Catholic Religious Education of fourth grade students of SDN 13 Terepong through the application of problem-based learning (PBL) model. Based on initial data, only 30% of students met the criteria for achieving learning objectives, while the remaining 70% were still below the threshold. The learning model that has been used is teacher-centered, less varied, and the limited facilities and skills of teachers in using technology contribute to low student involvement in learning. PBL was chosen as a solution because it involves students actively in solving problems, improving critical thinking skills, collaboration, and connecting subject matter with everyday life. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. In the first cycle, only 30% of students reached the category of “Proficient, 50% proficient, 20% decent and 0% just developing. “Through more intensive guidance, in the second cycle, there was an increase where 50% of students reached the category of “Proficient and Proficient”. The results of this study indicate that the application of PBL can improve student learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Students are more actively involved in the learning process, showing improvement in concept understanding, critical thinking skills, and collaboration. Therefore, PBL proved to be an effective method to improve the quality of PAK learning at SDN 13 Terepong, especially on the material “I am a Unique Person.”

Abstract

The low learning outcomes in Catholic religion for 9th-grade students are a problem, and the root of the problem is teachers' propensity to employ a traditional teaching style called lecturing. The researcher tries to apply the PBL approach to enhance learning results. Both qualitative and quantitative descriptive research models are used in this study. SMPN 4 Tebing Tinggi is the research site. The study's findings suggest that applying the PBL approach can enhance students' learning objectives. The fact that learning results improved from cycle 1 to cycle 2 with data showing that in the cognitive aspect, the competent category is at 22.2% and the proficient category at 77.8%. In the affective aspect, the competent category is at 11.1%, and the proficient category is at 88.9%. A similar trend is observed in the psychomotor aspect, with the competent category at 11.1% and the proficient category at 88.9%. The study concludes that the use of the PBL model in learning can enhance the learning outcomes of 9th-grade students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of Catholic Religious Education (PAK) for fourth-grade students at SDS Eka Tjipta Kenanga on the theme "I Am a Unique Individual" by implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. PBL allows students to actively participate in learning, solve real-world problems, and develop critical thinking and creativity skills. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a classroom action research design conducted in two cycles. Each cycle includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results show a significant increase in student learning outcomes after the implementation of the PBL model, with average scores rising from the first to the second cycle. This study concludes that PBL is effective in enhancing students' understanding of concepts and active engagement in PAK learning.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of Catholic religious and ethics subjects education on the material of conscience through the learning model of Problem Based Learning. This class action research involves 36 students of class X-4 SMA Stella Duce 1 Yogyakarta in the 2023/2024 academic year. The action was carried out in two learning cycles. Data were collected with assessments in each cycle, and observation guidelines, and analyzed descriptively. The results of the class action research showed that in cycle I the average value of summative assessment results 1 of 36 students was 74.3 with a percentage of value categories of 11.1% feasible, 83.3% advanced and 5.6% proficient. And in cycle II the average value of summative assessment results 2 of 36 students was 91.2 with a percentage of value categories of 13.9% advanced and 86.1% proficient. Thus, applying the Problem-Based Learning model can improve students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

Education is one of the basic needs required by every human being and an obligation that must be obtained by every citizen. The development of human life from time to time is certain to be more complex, especially in the development of science and technology. This requires humans to always be able to compete in keeping up with developments and be able to survive by being able to solve all the problems they face.Therefore, a student's ability to think critically is an important and primary thing. Critical thinking skills will be very beneficial for students because they will understand a problem in detail, so it is expected that students will find it easier to solve the problem. For this reason, learning that emphasizes critical thinking skills must be implemented in schools, especially at the junior high school level, which is the middle level of education and is a stepping stone to a wider social interaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of applying the Problem-Based Learning model in improving critical thinking attitudes in Catholic Religious Education and Ethics learning for seventh-grade students with the theme "I Have Abilities and Limitations" at SMP Negeri 1 Temanggung. The type of research used is quantitative. This method is called the traditional method because it has been used for quite some time so it has become a tradition as a method for research. Quantitative research is research in which the data is presented in the form of numbers and uses statistical analysis, usually aimed at showing the relationship between variables, testing theories, and finding generalizations that have predictive value. The researcher uses a quantitative method because it is necessary to measure data in research related to Fostering Critical Thinking Attitudes of Students Through the Problem-Based Learning Model in Catholic Religious Education and Ethics Subjects for Grade VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Temanggung. The type of research often used by a researcher in the field of education is experimental. This type of research is used to find out the influence of certain treatments on a variable under controlled conditions. This is applied to find out the effect if the problem-based learning (PBL) learning model treatment is given to the critical thinking abilities of seventh-grade students in Catholic Religious Education and Ethics.

Abstract

The results of initial observations regarding student learning outcomes in the learning process at SD Negeri 106821 Bandar Baru, especially in the subjects of Catholic religion and character, are very poor, as are students who are less motivated and lack concentration in the learning process. The aim of this research is to improve student learning outcomes by using the problem based learning model phase C for class 5 SD Negeri 106821 Bandar Baru. This research uses a classroom action research (PTK) design which consists of 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, evaluation and reflection. The subjects of this research were 4 students in class 5 phase C, 3 boys and 1 girl. The data collection technique was carried out by 1. Observation with indicators of the Pancasila student profile of the dimension of mutual cooperation with indicators of respect for fellow friends, cooperation, solidarity and empathy, deliberation to reach a consensus, and mutual help. 2. Cognitive learning outcomes tests with targets of proficient, competent, decent, and just developing. The results of the research showed that there was an increase in the P3 observation aspect in cycle 1 with an average of 60% and an increase in cycle 2 with an average of 70%. Meanwhile, in the learning test aspect, cycle 1 produced an average score of 73.75 and cycle 2 produced an average score of 88.75. It can be concluded that the PBL learning model can improve learning outcomes and develop student character.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in the subject of Catholic Religious Education and Character through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The background of this research is based on the low cognitive learning outcomes of students, particularly in critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Pegagan Hilir with a sample of 12 students from class IX-A. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments used included observation sheets and evaluation tests. The research results showed an increase in students' critical thinking skills in the second cycle compared to the first cycle. The average score of students' critical thinking skills increased from 70 in the first cycle to 88 in the second cycle, with a learning mastery rate of 90%. The implementation of the PBL model proved effective in enhancing students' participation in group discussions, critical thinking skills, and learning motivation. This model also helped students connect the concepts learned with real-life situations, thereby improving their understanding and learning outcomes

Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of students in the subject of Catholic Religious Education (PA-Katolik) through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model for third-grade students in Phase B at SD Negeri 06 Emang Bemban. In the learning process, students often exhibit a passive tendency due to various factors, such as unengaging teaching methods, lengthy explanations, or a lack of understanding of the presented material.In light of this situation, this study was conducted to identify the characteristics of the students and seek solutions to enhance their engagement in learning. By employing the PBL model, the research findings indicate a significant increase in student activity in each cycle conducted. Through this approach, it is expected that better and more engaging learning outcomes can be achieved.

Abstract

The background of this study is the lack of optimal student learning outcomes at SDN 003 Pasaribu. There are these problems, so efforts are made to improve learning so that student learning outcomes can be improved through classroom action research. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade IV students of SD Negeri 003 Pasaribu through the application of the Problem Based Learning model with the help of videos. The data collection technique uses a learning outcome test (post-test) and an attitude observation sheet according to the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile; namely Faith, Fear of God Almighty, and Noble Character, Global Diversity, Mutual Cooperation, Independence, Critical Reasoning, Creative. The results show that the application of the PBL model can improve student learning outcomes as shown through the comparison of post-test scores in cycles I and II. Thus, the PBL model has proven to be effective in improving the learning outcomes of grade IV students of SD Negeri 003 Pasaribu.

Abstract

Education is simply defined as human efforts to nurture and develop innate potential both physically and spiritually in accordance with the values present in their society and culture. The Merdeka Curriculum is a curriculum with diverse intracurricular learning and improved content, allowing students sufficient time to learn concepts and strengthen skills. The purpose of Catholic Religious Education in schools is to encourage students to interact or communicate in understanding, confronting, and living their faith. However, at SDN 105302 Tangkahan, there are challenges in teaching Catholic Religious Education, namely the low learning outcomes of students due to more conventional and non-interactive teaching methods. There is a lack of use of engaging learning media and technology that is considered irrelevant to students' daily lives. This research aims to improve student learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This study uses a classroom action research method with fifth-grade students in phase C at SDN 105302 Tangkahan as research subjects. Data was collected through observation, tests, and interviews. The results show a significant improvement in concept understanding, collaboration skills, and student learning outcomes after the implementation of the PBL model in Catholic Religious Education.
