Abstract

The conditions observed during Catholic Religion lessons for seventh-grade students at SMPN 3 Kelam Permai in the 2024/2025 academic year indicate a lack of concentration among students. They frequently engage in conversations with peers, exhibit limited fluency in articulating their opinions, struggle with analyzing the material being studied, and demonstrate minimal participation in class activities. These factors collectively contribute to suboptimal student learning outcomes. The problem formulation in this study is as follows: How is the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method applied to the topic "The Role of the Family in My Development" in class VII at SMPN 3 Kelam Permai? Can the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method enhance the learning outcomes of class VII students at SMPN 3 Kelam Permai in the subject of Catholic Religious Education? Additionally, what challenges are encountered in the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method in teaching Catholic Religious Education in class VII at SMPN 3 Kelam Permai? The research data gathered by the researcher originates from two primary sources: First, the outcomes of observations regarding the Independence of Interest and Motivation of students, conducted by colleagues or derived from the researcher’s own observations during the instructional unit "My Abilities and Limitations," utilizing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in class VII at SMPN 3 Kelam Permai during the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Second, the data collection method for assessing the Independence of Interest and Motivation of students involves administering tests at the conclusion of each cycle. Since the pre-cycle research, Cycle I, and Cycle II, students have consistently surpassed the minimum achievement threshold of 70%. In the pre-cycle research, no students fell within the range of 81-100. In Cycle I, four students (21%) achieved scores in the range of 81-100. In Cycle II, nine students (49%) attained scores within the same range.

Abstract

Creativity is one of the dimensions in the Pancasila Student Profile. Creative students can produce original ideas, create original work and actions, and have flexibility in thinking to find alternative solutions to problems. This research is of the type Classroom Action Research. To increase students' learning creativity with the Problem-Based Learning model on human material created as an image of God in Catholic Religious Education and Character Education subjects. The subjects of this research were students at SDN Begalon 1 Surakarta City for the 2024/2025 Academic Year Phase C Class V. Data collection techniques are carried out using observation, initial tests, formative tests, and documentation. The results of this research are: 1) The application of the stages in PBL has an impact on students' ability to solve a problem creatively; 2) The average P3 Qualitative Score is from 72 to 86, in the proficient category; 3) The average cognitive score in cycle I was 80 to 88 in cycle II, in the advanced category.

Abstract

This classroom action research is motivated by the low value of Catholic religious education and character education. This study aims to improve learning outcomes by increasing students' interest in learning using project-based learning. This research was conducted on September 23 to September 28, 2024, in class VII of SMP Negeri 2 Silima Pungga Pungga. The type of research is Classroom Action Research with a pre-cycle and two cycles. The first cycle uses the PJBL method on the material I Have Ability. The second cycle uses the PJBL method on the material My Ability is Limited. In this study, the researcher used student worksheets (LKPD) as an assessment medium. The results of the study showed that with the project-based learning method, a pleasant learning atmosphere occurred so that student learning outcomes increased, namely from the pre-cycle results an average of 74.55% was obtained, from the results of cycle I an average of 81.41% was obtained and from cycle II an average of 87.66%. So in this study, a total increase from pre-cycle to cycle II was obtained of 13.11%. It is concluded that the problem based learning method can improve the learning outcomes of Catholic religious education and character.

Abstract

This research project aims to ascertain the efficacy of the PBL model in enhancing critical reasoning abilities among students at SMP Santo Yusup Bandung. The research is based on the identification of issues pertaining to student engagement, particularly the tendency of students to exhibit minimal attention and participation during classroom discussions. Another issue pertains to cognitive processes, whereby students are prone to being unduly influenced by information that they initially encounter, without engaging in critical reasoning to seek further evidence. Furthermore, learners are inadequately trained in the analysis of information. This research employs a classroom action research design, comprising four phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in two cycles at Santo Yusup Junior High School in Bandung. The participants were students in class VIIIA, and the material covered was Jesus Proclaimed the Kingdom of God Through Parables and Miracles. The research was conducted in September 2024. The data collection techniques employed included observation, field notes, and the documentation of students' abilities to reason critically. The data analysis employed descriptive qualitative techniques. The findings of the initial cycle of research indicated an enhancement in the capacity to reason critically and a heightened level of student engagement. However, these outcomes did not yet align with the anticipated objectives. In Cycle II, there was a notable enhancement in both critical reasoning and affective learning. The research results demonstrate a 40.12% increase in critical reasoning and learner involvement in Catholic Religious Education. It is hoped that the PBL approach will foster a more active and collaborative learning atmosphere, in alignment with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum and the values espoused in the Pancasila Learner Profile. It is anticipated that this research will contribute to the provision of holistic and meaningful education for learners.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the application of problem-based learning (PBL) models in improving the creativity of grade 3 students at SDN 101857 Gunung Rintih. In the current educational context, it is important for students to not only receive information, but also develop critical thinking skills and creativity that can help them face challenges in the real world. The PBL model is designed to invite students to be actively involved in the learning process by identifying real problems that are relevant to life. Through a series of structured activities, students are encouraged to work in groups, discuss ideas, and find solutions together. This approach not only strengthens students' analytical abilities but also builds social and collaborative skills that are important for their development. In this study, data collection methods will involve observation, interviews, and questionnaires to assess the increase in students' creativity and problem-solving skills. It is hoped that the results of this study will show that the application of PBL can significantly improve students' creativity and facilitate their growth in academic and social aspects. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective curriculum and learning practices at the elementary education level.

Abstract

Faith is an essential foundation in the spiritual life of Christians, and nurturing faith in children is a collective responsibility among the family, the church, and society. This article will discuss creative approaches that can be used to bring the Scriptures to the hearts of children. A literature review approach is used in writing the article in order to develop a deep understanding to increase their understanding of the teachings of the faith, also to foster a deep love and appreciation for the Scriptures as the Word of God. The article concludes that through the use of stories, games, art, music, and technology, we can create a fun and inspiring environment for children to encounter the Scriptures and develop their faith.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the academic achievement and teamwork skills of 7th-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Kayan Hilir by using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the topic of "Human Development Through the Role of Others." The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 20 7th-grade students. Data collection instruments included academic achievement tests and teamwork skills observation sheets. The results of the study showed an increase in academic achievement, from an average score of 64 in the pre-cycle to 81 in cycle II. Additionally, the students' teamwork skills improved from the "sufficient" category to "good" in cycle II. Thus, the PBL model was effective in improving both the academic achievement and teamwork skills of the students.

Abstract

The changes of the times may result in a shift in the values of life for individuals or even groups of people. However, most members of society who are not significantly affected by these changes continue to use "old ways." Good values from these traditional ways should indeed be preserved and developed by being passed down through generations, whether by communities that are far from modernization or those following contemporary progress. One long-standing tradition is the concept of mutual cooperation or "gotong royong." The dimension of mutual cooperation, as deepened in the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum), must be echoed both in schools and within society. In today's era, the spirit and values of mutual cooperation have diminished in some areas. Therefore, efforts are needed to further enhance this dimension. One way to deepen the Dimension of Mutual Cooperation is through Catholic Religious Education and Moral Education using the Problem-Based Learning model with five students at SDN 16 Panoalatn, aiming to improve the Dimension of Mutual Cooperation. In Cycle 1, the students’ development results showed 40% in the "Still Developing" category, 40% in the "Adequate" category, and 20% in the "Proficient" category, with none reaching the "Mastery" level (0%). Improvements were made in Cycle 2, with results showing 0% in the "Still Developing" and "Adequate" categories, 40% in the "Proficient" category, and 60% in the "Mastery" category for the Dimension of Mutual Cooperation.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the increased learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education subjects for grade 4 students at SDN 1 Keberak. This research uses a classroom research method carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The average score students obtained when using the PBL model in the first cycle was 69%, and in the second cycle, it was 85%, according to the research results for the two processes. If the PBL learning model is implemented well and consistently, it will improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in Catholic Religious Education through the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The subjects of this study were students of class VIIIA at SMP Negeri 2 Playen during the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research was conducted in two cycles, which included the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, observations, and interviews, and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that the implementation of PBL significantly improved students' critical thinking skills. In the first cycle, the average pre-test score was 5.3, which increased to 7.2 in the post-test (a 36% increase). However, most students still struggled to relate theological concepts to real-life situations. In the second cycle, the average pre-test score increased to 6.5, while the post-test average reached 8.4 (a 29% increase). Student engagement in group discussions and problem-solving activities also improved, with participation levels increasing from 65% in the first cycle to 85% in the second cycle. The implementation of PBL proved effective not only in developing critical thinking skills but also in helping students deeply understand the material on The Mission and Calling of Jesus’ Disciples and apply religious values in daily life. Therefore, PBL is recommended as a relevant learning method to support the development of critical thinking skills and student engagement in religious education.
