Abstract

This study aimed to implement Project-Based Learning (PBL) through environmental observation to enhance the creativity and cognitive learning outcomes of first-grade students at SDN Sondakan, Surakarta. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) involved 6 students from the first-grade A phase in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method involved planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data was collected through tests and observations. Qualitative descriptive analysis was used to measure cognitive learning outcomes (written summative tests, project performance success), creativity outcomes, and the learning process (success of implementing the Project-Based Learning model). The results showed a significant increase in students' creativity, producing original ideas (from 79% to 83%), creating original works and actions (from 77% to 81%), and demonstrating flexibility in thinking to find alternative solutions to problems (from 71% to 75%). Cognitive learning outcomes measured through written summative tests in the "Proficient" aspect increased by 100%, from 33.33% to 66.67%. Additionally, cognitive learning outcomes in terms of products or projects showed a 100% increase in the "Proficient" aspect and a 33.34% increase in the "Competent" aspect. The implementation of Project-Based Learning through environmental observation showed an improvement in all stages of the learning model syntax. The "Determining Essential Questions" stage increased by 3.1%, "Designing Project Plans" increased by 3.2%, "Developing" increased by 5.3%, "Monitoring Students and Project Progress" increased by 8.9%, and "Testing Results" increased by 5.3%. Recommendations include strengthening the improvement of learning strategies, enhancing creativity, and evaluating the curriculum to achieve comprehensive student learning outcomes across various domains.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and independence through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by audiovisual media on the material "Women and Men as Images of God" in Class V Phase C SDN 10 Sadok. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) method with two cycles, involving planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 5 class V students. The instruments used included learning outcome tests, independence observation sheets, and interviews. The results showed that the application of the PBL model assisted by audiovisual media significantly improved student learning outcomes, as well as encouraged independence in the learning process. The average value of student learning outcomes increased from the first cycle to the second cycle, as did the independence indicators shown through student activity, responsibility, and independence in solving problems. These findings indicate that the use of the PBL model supported by audiovisual media is effective in developing students' understanding of Catholic Religious Education material as well as critical and independent thinking skills.

Abstract

Learning is not just about gaining knowledge; it's about growing, evolving, and making a difference. Teachers should design lessons that help students develop both skills and knowledge, leading to the development of strong moral character. Effective learning puts students at the center of the process, making learning active, creative, and engaging. However, at SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Pinem, especially in Catholic Religious Education and Ethics, teaching is still very teacher-centered, and only 61% of students are meeting the learning objectives. To address this, the school has implemented a student-centered approach, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL). After using PBL for two cycles, it was found that while only 16% of students showed improvement in the first cycle, all students met the objectives in the second cycle. This shows that PBL has significantly improved student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Learning in Indonesia aims to increase the intelligence of students intellectually and emotionally. The study of Catholicism, as part of ethics, aims to develop human understanding as a unique image of God. Humans have different uniqueness and abilities, which must be developed through various efforts to benefit themselves, their families, and society. This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMPN 3 Sibolga on the material "Unique Image of Allah" and develop critical thinking skills with the Problem Based Learning method. This qualitative research uses observation in two cycles, based on the Kemmis and Mc Taggart research model which includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of the study showed an increase in students' critical reasoning skills and learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II, with the average achievement increasing from 88% in cycle I to 90% in cycle II. This study emphasizes the importance of teachers as facilitators in creating interesting learning, by involving students in discovering new understandings.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMP Setya Budi Nanga Pinoh for the 2024/2025 school year in the subject of Catholic Religious Education through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles with 2 meetings each cycle. Each cycle consists of several stages, namely planning, implementation of actions, observation and reflection. The subject matter discussed was "I am the Unique Image of Allah". The subjects in this study are grade VII students of SMP Setya Budi Nanga Pinoh for the 2024/2025 school year consisting of 28 students. The data collection technique is in the form of test results carried out at the end of cycle I and cycle II, observation results during learning in cycle I and cycle II. The results of the study show that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve the learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMP Setya Budi Nanga Pinoh starting from cycle I and cycle II. In the first cycle, the percentage of student learning completeness was 80%, and in the second cycle, the percentage of completeness reached 100%. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve the learning outcomes of Catholic Religious Education students in grade VII of SMP Setya Budi Nanga Pinoh.

Abstract

This study aims to improve learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education (PAK) on the topic "I Have Limitations" using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Manduamas. This is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research results show that applying PBL improves students' collaboration skills and learning outcomes. In the first cycle, the average collaboration score was 76.88%, which increased to 88.21% in the second cycle. Additionally, students' learning achievements improved, with 17% of students categorized as proficient in the first cycle, which increased to 83% in the second cycle. In conclusion, the PBL method is effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes and engagement in Catholic Religious Education.

Abstract

The background of this study is the decrease of the students’ learning outcomes and the minimum of their attitude in collaborating group assignments in classes. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) has two cycles which each cycle consists of plan, action, observation, and reflection. The purpose of this research is to describe the learning model based on problem-based learning using puzzle for 31 students at Bunda Hati Kudus Elementary school, Jakarta in grade six on phase C. Observing, testing, and documenting are implemented for the data gathering. Data analysis techniques in research are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The result of the research shows the increase in student learning outcomes and the growth of collaborative attitudes as a manifestation of the dimensions of the Pancasila learning profile have proven to increase. Student learning outcomes and collaborative attitudes obtained in cycle I with sufficient qualifications (C) increased to good qualifications (B) in cycle II. The conclusion is that puzzle learning media improves learning outcomes and collaborative attitudes through Prophet Elijah material in phase C of grade 6 at Bunda Hati Kudus Elementary School, Jakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of Problem-Based Learning methods (Problem-Based Learning or PBL) in improving learning outcomes and mutual cooperation character of students in Grade 2 SDN 07 Panjang. The background of this study is based on The Independent curriculum that emphasizes strengthening the profile of Pancasila students, including the dimension of mutual assistance that is very relevant to social life in Indonesia. However, the implementation of The Independent curriculum in SDN 07 Panjang faces challenges, such as limited facilities and the need for training for teachers. These challenges can affect the formation of mutual cooperation characters in students as well as their academic learning outcomes. In this study, theories related to learning outcomes, Catholic Religious Education, and Problem-Based Learning Methods (PBL) are used as a basis for designing learning that can improve learning outcomes and mutual cooperation characters. Theoretical foundations such as Piaget's cognitive theory, Skinner's behavioristic theory, and Vygotsky's constructivism help to understand the mechanisms of effective learning. In addition, The Independent curriculum applied in Catholic Religious Education in Phase A supports the use of PBL to build student character, especially mutual aid. Through previous research, it was found that PBL was able to improve students ' social skills and learning outcomes. Studies by Nurhayati (2019) and Lestari (2017) show that the application of PBL in Catholic Religious Education subjects successfully improves understanding of religious teaching materials, student participation, and mutual cooperation characters. This study used the method of class action (CLA) which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle includes a 105-minute opening, core, and closing activity. Subjects were 26 students of Grade 2 SD Phase A. Data were collected through observation and learning outcomes tests. The results showed that the application of PBL method significantly improved students ' cognitive learning outcomes and strengthened the character of mutual cooperation. In Cycle 2, there was an increase in student participation in group activities and understanding of the material.

Abstract

The learning method that has been applied in Grade IV at Joannes Bosco Elementary School Yogyakarta is less engaging. It affects the students’ performance. They show less cooperation. On the other hand, the expected achievement targets are not to be met. This research aims to improve the Gotong Royong dimension character and achievement targets through the implementation of a problem-based learning (PBL) model assisted by YouTube video media. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles with the theme "My Unique Self," focusing on the sub-topics of strengths and weaknesses, and gratitude for uniqueness, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 26 students of Grade IV, Phase B, at Joannes Bosco Elementary School Yogyakarta. The results showed an increase in the Gotong Royong dimension of the Pancasila Student Profile (P3) from 57% to 81% during the learning process using the PBL method. There was also an improvement in student learning outcomes, with the percentage of students achieving "proficient" increasing from 38% to 62%, "competent" remaining at 38%, and the categories "adequate" and "developing" decreasing from 19% and 4% to 0%, respectively. Overall, focusing on the Gotong Royong dimension using the PBL model assisted by YouTube videos proved effective in enhancing both the Gotong Royong character and learning achievement in Catholic Religious Education for Grade IV students at Joannes Bosco Elementary School Yogyakarta. It is suggested that teachers focus on one dimension in the character development process using methods that emphasize problem-solving.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education subjects are due to learning methods that tend to be monotonous using the same learning model every meeting. To improve learning outcomes, it is tried to use the PBL model Can the PBL method improve PAK learning outcomes? To determine the effectiveness of PBL for PAK learning outcomes, PTK research was conducted in learning the Material of the Call and Mission of the Disciple of Jesus in 2 cycles with the PBL Model, data collection instruments using tests and observation and documentation. The research process was carried out through a class action cycle with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results showed that the PBL model can improve learning outcomes. This is evidenced by an increase in the average test results of students' cognitive learning abilities in the first cycle with 50% proficient criteria and in the second cycle increased to 61% proficient criteria. As well as 100% of learners are able to exceed the target of 0% on decent and new developing criteria. Then students also experienced an increase in affective aspects based on observation data on the profile of Pancasila students who reason critically, independently and cooperatively. In the first cycle, the average increase in proficient criteria was 55% and increased in the second cycle to proficient criteria of 67%. Thus it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model is proven to be effective in improving the learning outcomes of Catholic Religious Education (PAK).
