Abstract

A B S T R A C T Children with Autism typically have trouble speaking with others, their linguistic abilities can still grow and improve. This study aimed to determine whether teaching students with autism English vocabulary using the TEACCH technique may assist those with Autism in developing an enjoyment and excitement for learning simple English vocabulary, correctly recognizing the words, and incorrectly mentioning the terms with the appropriate pronoun. This study employs a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods for its analysis. This school offers educational services to students with Autism, mainly through the TEACCH technique for learning simple English vocabulary. The research will focus on ten children who have autism spectrum disorder as its subjects. The TEACCH approach is used in educational activities conducted with students with Autism who speak English. This method incorporates both the photograph and the actual object. An initial test, a follow-up test, and an observation sheet collected the data. Several exercises are carried out in English learning vocabulary activities, such as pairing the object or things and mentioning the pronoun words in the appropriate context. The findings indicated that autistic students were highly interested in acquiring simple English vocabulary from other autistic students. The fact that the total Score on the post-test was 82% demonstrates that it was higher than the Score on the pre-test, which was 65.5%. They reacted appropriately and communicated effectively despite the challenges they faced. In addition, students start to take a greater interest in concentrating on their instructor.

Abstract

This research aims to highlight the common traits of atypical motherhood portrayed in Euripides’ tragic play, “Medea” focusing on the character of Medea. The study explores the contrast between revenge and motherhood, showcasing how Medea challenges the traditional maternal roles which often emphasize nurturing and protective qualities. Medea challenges these norms and Conventional expectations through her complex and controversial actions by navigating the intricate interplay between love, revenge, and societal norms. The study employs a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating literary analysis, psychoanalytic perspectives, and cultural studies to unravel the layers of Medea’s action. Through a detailed analysis of Medea’s character, the paper examines subtle representations of motherhood, revealing the tensions between maternal instinct and the pursuit of individual agency. Additionally, the research investigates how cultural and historical context of ancient Greece influenced the construction of maternal roles in the play. By delving into the character of Medea, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the complex dynamics surrounding motherhood within the context of classical Greek literature. Furthermore, it invites reflection on the enduring relevance of these themes in contemporary discussions on gender, power, and societal expectations. Through this exploration, the paper aims to contribute to a nuanced understanding of maternal roles in classical literature and stimulate discourse on the portrayal of atypical motherhood in ancient narratives.

Abstract

The current study aimed to explore the factor structure and the measurement invariance of the teacher-reported Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) across cultures (the United States and China). We used a sample of elementary school students in the U.S. (N=639) and China (N=666). Confirmatory factor analysis results identified the underlying 3-factor structure of the SDQ for each group sample (i.e., Internalizing Problems, Externalizing Problems, and Prosocial Behavior). A Multiple-group Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicated that SDQ showed full configural, metric, scalar, and residual invariance across the U.S. and China within the elementary school setting. The present study’s findings contributed to the literature by adding additional validity evidence of teacher-reported SDQ, supporting the feasibility of cross-cultural comparisons of elementary school children’s mental health measured by teacher-reported SDQ.
