Abstract

Background: The growth and development experienced by school-age children need to be supported by optimal nutritional intake, which can be obtained from vegetables and fruit. In order for these conditions to be achieved, it is necessary to provide interesting nutrition education so that children can understand well. In addition, it will form good nutritional behavior as well.Objective: To determine the effect of Nutrition-Run Game media on children's knowledge and attitudes towards the importance of consuming vegetables and fruits.Methods: This research design is Quasi-Experimental with One Group Pretest and Posttest Design. The research subjects were 37 children aged 9-12 years in the Sitanala Multipurpose Complex RT.004. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The number of questionnaires used for knowledge is 13 questions, and attitudes are 14 questions Subjects were given a pre-test questionnaire and then given an intervention using the Nutrition-Run Game media. After that, the subject was given a post-test 1 questionnaire. Then, seven days later, the subject was again given the same questionnaire (post-test 2). Analysis of the data used is the Paired Sample T-Test.Results: The results showed that most of the subjects had a low level of knowledge (81,1%), and there were still subjects who had poor attitudes (24,3%). After being given education, there was an increase in scores for both variables. The bivariate analysis results showed a significant difference between knowledge and attitude scores before and after giving intervention media regarding the importance of consuming vegetables and fruit (p≤0,05).Conclusion: There is an effect of using the Nutrition-Run Game media on children's knowledge and attitudes regarding vegetable and fruit consumption.

Abstract

Background: Globalization leads to dietary deviations and physical activity that affect overweight. Preliminary study (2018) shows the prevalence of overweight according to Body Mass Index (IMT) at age 18 years old at Nutrition student of Poltekkes Kemenkes Semarang 17,2%. Obesity is closely related to body mass index and blood sugar levels. Lack of physical activity as one of the factors that trigger the incidence of obesity. Physical activity such as moderate aerobic aerobic exercise can leads to decreased saving fat so that automatically lose weight that will affect BMI and blood sugar levels during (GDS).Objective: To know the influence of moderate aerobic aerobic exercise on body mass index and blood sugar level in overweight student at Nutrition Department of Poltekkes Kemenkes Semarang. Methods: The type of research is True-Experimental with pre and post-control group design design. Sampling using random sampling technique to get 17 treatment samples and 17 control samples. The data collected were anthropometric data, energy intake and physical activity. The statistical tests used were Paired t-test, Wilcoxon, independent t-test and Mann Whitney test.Results: There was no difference in BMI in both treatment and control groups before and after medium intensity aerobic exercise p = 0.221 and control group p = 0.260. There was a difference of GDS in the treatment group before and after medium intensity aerobic exercise p = 0.018 and control group p = 0.041. There was no difference of IMT decrease between treatment and control group (p value = 0,994). There was no difference of GDS decrease between treatment and control group (p value = 0.679).Conclusion: There was no difference of IMT decrease between treatment and control group (p value = 0,994). There was no difference of GDS decrease between treatment and control group (p value = 0.679).

Abstract

Background : Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease. The early symptoms of pre diabetes can be seen in hyperglycemia postprandial. The functional food such as aloe guava juice can be given to decrease postprandial blood glucose levels. Aloe guava juice contains a substance that can increase the pancreas to produce insulin response and contains soluble fiber which can block the absorption of glucose and decrease the absorption into the blood.Objective : Knowing the effects of aloe guava juice on postprandial blood glucose levels in Semarang Polytechnic students are provided with a meal.Method : This research is an experimental sample-series, with a total sample of 10 people. All subjects receive 2 times the treatment, the first treatment subjects was fed and then an interval of 1 week of feeding subjects treated with aloe guava juice with the same amount of carbohydrate that is 55.5 grams. Methods of measurement of fasting and postprandial glucose levels using a easy touch. Test paired T-test was used to analyze the effect of aloe guava juice on postprandial blood glucose levels.Results : Based on Paired T-test, there was no significant effect of aloe guava juice at minute 0 '(p = 0.834), the 30' (p = 0.566), the 60 '(p = 0.615) and the 120' (p = 0.511), but at minute 180 ' significant effect of aloe guava juice on the postprandial blood glucose levels was detected, (p = 0.012)Conclusion : The aloe guava juice has the potency to decrease postprandial blood glucose levels after three hours.

Abstract

Background : Obesity in adolescence associated with the incidence of metabolic syndrome. The metabolic syndrome is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by high blood pressure, high fasting blood glucose, high triglycerides, low HDL and central obesity. An increasing number of metabolic syndrome in line with the increase in the number of obesity. Based on RISKESDAS 2013 increased the proportion of central obesity from 2007 to 2013 by 18.8% to 26.6%. The prevalence of central obesity in Semarang 21.5%.Aim : Knowing the relationship among intake with waist circumference, fasting blood glucose level and blood pressure in obese adolescents in SMAN 9 Semarang.Method : This study was an observational study with cross-sectional design. Sampling was conducted randomized to receive 47 samples. The data collected is macro nutrients intake factors with 24 hours recall method, weight, height, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose level and blood pressure. Data was collected by the method of anthropometry; interviews, blood pressure measurement and fasting blood glucose level measurement. The correlations test using linear regression.Results: There is a correlation between intake with waist circumference (p 0.046 0.05) with a moderate relationship (R = 0.454) and contributed 20.6%, there is a correlation between intake with fasting blood glucose level (0.039 p 0.05) with the level of relationship is (R = 0.448) and contributed 20.1%, there is a correlation between intake with systolic blood pressure (p 0.004 0.05) with a strong correlation (R = 0.556) and contributed 30.6%, and there is no correlation between intake factor with diastolic blood pressure (p 0.113 0.05) and contributed 16.3%.Conclusion: There is a correlation among intake with waist circumference, fasting blood glucose level and systolic blood pressure. There is no correlation between intake with diastolic blood pressure.

Abstract

Background : DM is a chronic disease, not infrequently patients with DM depends on drugs throughout life. Drug consumption brings economic impact besides side effects of course. Therefore it is necessary alternative treatment in preventing the occurrence of DM disease by using vegetables and fruits. Based on the results of Riskesdas 2013, DM prevalence increased from 1.1 percent (2007) to 2.1 percent, while in Semarang there was an increase from 13,112 cases (2013) to 15,464 cases (2014). The highest prevalence in Semarang that is in Kecamatan Pedurungan with working area of Tlogosari Wetan by 8.6%.Objective  : To determine the effect of tomato and lime juice on blood glucose levels in adult women aged 40-60 years.Methods  : This research was clinical nutrition research. The type of research was true experiment that used randomized pretest posttest control group design. The sample size is 20 treatments and 18 controls. The test used to determine the difference of blood glucose level between the treatment group and the control group is Independent T-test and to determine the effect of tomato juice and lime juice on blood glucose control with nutrient intake is ANOVA Repeated Measure Test.Results  : Based on statistical tests showed that in subjects with initial blood glucose high category (≥90 mg / dl) there was more decrease in blood glucose in the treatment group even though statistically not significant (p = 0,354). Subjects with initial blood glucose normal category (90 mg / dl) there was decrease in blood glucose even though statistically not significant (p = 0,139).Conclusion  : Tomato and lime juice can decrease blood glucose levels in the research subjects, although statistically not significant.

Abstract

Background: Nutrition are the essential factor to maintain body weight, body mass index and food intake in CAPD patients. Dialysis could increase nutrients lost and had to be replaced by adequate intake. Nutrition education should be needed to increase patient’s knowledge, food intake and body mass index.Objectives: To determine the role of nutrition education towards energy-protein intake and body mass index in patient with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD)Method: A cross-sectional study design with total sampling technique to obtains thirthy CAPD outpatient at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo. Energy and protein intake were assessed by 3-days-food records (weekday and weekend). Nutritional status were obtained with BMI by dry body weight. Data were analyzed with independent t-test.Results: Most of subject are male outpatients, 25 – 55 years old (76.7%), had hypertension (83.3%) and normal BMI (50%). Most of subject had been undergoing peritoneal dialysis more than a year (67%), and had less than two times education per year. Energy intake were categorized as sufficient (80%) but protein intake were categorized as insufficient. There were no differences between frequency of nutrition education with energy-protein intake and nutritional status (p0.05)Conclusion: There are no differences between energy-protein intake and nutritional status with the frequency of nutrition education. Nutritional education by nutritionist and/or dietitian according to the recommendations help to maintain normal body mass index.

Abstract

Background : Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally. The type of cancer with the highest prevalence in women is dominated by breast cancer. Decreased appetite is a nutritional problem that occurs in cancer patients. Therefore, the intake of energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates needs to be specifically considered. Energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates have an important role in maintaining the nutritional status of patients to remain in the normal range, considering that there will be changes in metabolism in cancer patients which have an impact on decreasing nutritional status.Objectives : To describe the implementation of nutritional care process in breast cancer patients.Method : The study design used was a Case StudyResults : The abstract should be typed as concise as possible and should be composed of: problem statement, method, scientific finding results, and short conclusion. The abstract should only be typed in one paragraph and one-column format. (Times New Roman 12pt)Nutrition care process for cancer patients begins with nutrition screening, nutritional assessment, nutritional diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition. Provision of a high-energy, high-protein diet for three days in the form of soft foods. Nutrition education and counseling were provided to patients and their families. Overall there was an increase in the amount of food intake every day.Conclusion : Implementation of the nutrition care process for three days increased food intake. Clinical physical data showed fluctuating results.

Abstract

Background : Iron nutritional anemia is anemia that arises due to the absence of the body's ironreserves so that the supply of iron for the formation of erythropoesis is reduced, so that eventually the formation of hemoglobin will decrease. The anemia prevalence in adolescent girls in 2011 in Semarang city was 5%. Based on observations in February 2013 at Don Bosko High School, the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia was 20%. Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of protein intake, vitamin C, iron, and tea drinking habits with Hb levels. Method : This type of research is explanatory research with a case-control approach with a ratio of 1: 1 (matching age). The sample was 28 female students taken by simple random sampling. Primary data includes sample identity, anthropometric data, protein intake, vitamin C intake, iron intake, tea drinking habits, and Hb levels. Secondary data includes an overview of the location of the study. Protein, vitamin C, iron intake, and tea drinking habits were obtained using the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency form, while Hb levels were measured using the chyanomethoglobin method. Data analysis using Mc statistical test. Nemar. Result : The results showed that there were 67.89% samples of good protein intake, 64.29% of samples of vitamin C intake were good, 82.14% of samples of iron intake were not good, and 78.57% of samples of tea drinking habits were not good. There was no relationship between protein intake and Hb levels (p = 0.453, OR = 2.5). There is a relationship between vitamin C intake and Hb levels (p = 0.031). There was no association between iron intake and Hb levels (p = 1,000, OR = 1.5). There is no relationship between tea drinking habits and Hb levels (p = 0.500).

Abstract

Background : The first five years of life is a sensitive period of children. This period is also called ’the gold period’, ’the window of opportunity’, and ‘the critical period’. In less than five year period, the ability of speaking and language, creativity, social awareness, emotion and intelligence develop so fast. One of influencing factor is nutrition status. Objective :The purpose of the research is to find out the relationship between the nutrition statuses with the development of under-five children in pre- school education in the Puskesmas Kesugihan I Cilacap Districts. Method: This research is the explanative research with the cross sectional approach. The analyzed population is all the children in the age of 3 until five in pre-school education in the area of Puskesmas Kesugihan I Cilacap Districts. The sample of this research is 90 children. The technique of data collection is a interviewed with Development Pre Screning Quesioner. Fisher’s exact test analized was done to got relationship between variabels. Result: The percentage of over weight was 41 children (45.6%), well-nourished was 32 children (35.6%), and wasting was 17 children (18.9%). The development of dominant sample for amount 58 children (64.4%) is appropriate; the development of 27 children (30%) is doubtful and 5 children (5.6%) with development’s deviation. There is a relationship between the nutrition status with the development of children 3 -5 years old (p= 0,025). Conclusion: There is a meaningful relationship between the nutrition status with the development of children3 -5 years old (p= 0,025).

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a disorder of the cardiovascular system, it’s still a burden on public health because of its prevalence is high. Factors that cause hypertension such as lack of physical activity, obesity and stress state. The prevalence of teenagers hypertension in the age group 15-24 years are 8,7%.Objective: To identify the correlations between exercise habits, obesity and stress with hypertension in adolescents in Senior High School 10 Semarang.Methods: The study of public nutrition with case control approach (matching sex) with each sample case and control groups of 37 students. Collecting data include measurement of blood pressure, exercise habits, height and weight measurements and stress. To determine the relationship between variables used Mc Nemar test with α = 95%.Results: The average systolic blood pressure / diastolic in hypertension group was 131.70 / 74.61 mmHg and the group does not hypertensive 103.08 / 59.41 mmHg. 86.5% of adolescents with hypertension lack of exercise, while adolescents are not hypertensive 83.8% less exercise. Adolescents with hypertension 62.6% are obese, while adolescents are not hypertensive only 8.1%. Most (89.2%) adolescents both hypertensive and non-hypertensive do not experience stress. Results of bivariate analysis is not significant correlations between exercise habits with hypertension (p = 1.000), there is a correlations between obesity and hypertension (p = 0.001, OR = 8) and there is not significant correlations between stress and hypertension (p = 1.000).Conclusions: Obesity is correlated with hypertension. While exercise habits and stress are not correlated. Suggested adolescents maintain a healthy weight.
