Abstract

This research aims to describe high school students' curiosity about the topic of global warming. The type of research used is quasi-experimental. The research sample consisted of 35 students from group X-2 as the experimental group and 36 students from group X-3 as the control group. The instrument used in this research was a student curiosity questionnaire with 25 statement items which were divided into several indicators, namely the desire to learn something, a strong attitude to know something, and interest in new things. The descriptive analysis pointed out that our results show the average value of curiosity in the experimental group (0.82) is in the very good category compared to the control group (0.74) in the good category. The difference is significant according to inferential analysis, obtaining a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The conclusion obtained is that the use of the SOLE model can increase students' curiosity better in learning physics on global warming material at SMA Negeri 1 Kandis.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of ethnoscience-based learning methods of Pacu Jalur Tradition on the cognitive abilities of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kuantan Hilir. The methodology used in this research is quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent post-test design. Samples were analyzed randomly after normality and homogeneity tests were completed to determine the experimental group and control group. This research used test instruments in the form of multiple-choice questions about cognitive abilities. Analysis of research data using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The results of the independent sample t-test hypothesis test on cognitive abilities are shown with a significance level of 0.002 ≤ 0.05. There is a significant difference in students' cognitive abilities between ethnoscience-based learning in the Pacu Jalur Tradition and conventional classes. Learning based on the Pacu Jalur Tradition is effective in improving the cognitive abilities of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kuantan Hilir on the kinematics of straight motion.

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes by using a contextual approach oriented towards traditional kelong fishing gear. This research method uses a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent post-test only group design. The population in this study was class VIII students, totaling 79 people. The population came from three classes, of which 2 classes were then selected for the research sample, namely class VIII-1 as the experimental group and class VIII-2 as the control group. The research was carried out in four meetings. After learning is complete, students are given a posttest in the form of a cognitive learning outcomes test instrument with 25 multiple-choice questions. The average score data on student learning outcomes shows differences between the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class obtained an average score of 72.90 in the good category, while the control class obtained an average score of 59.37 in the quite good category. Then, based on the independent sample T-Test, the significance results were 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, learning with a contextual approach oriented towards traditional kelong fishing gear is effectively used to improve cognitive science learning outcomes for students at SMPN 1 Lingga Utara.

Abstract

This research intends to look at the level of scientific literacy of high school students through learning based on the Pacu Jalur Tradition. Quasi-experiment was used as a method in this research with a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. The population in this search was class XI students of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan, totaling 143 people. There were 71 students as samples for this research divided into experimental class and control class. Learning with an approach based on the Pacu Jalur Tradition is implemented in the experimental class, while conventional learning is applied in the control class. The research instrument was a scientific literacy test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions arranged based on scientific literacy competencies according to PISA 2018. The scientific literacy post-test was carried out after learning about the dynamics of rectilinear motion had been completed in both classes. Data from the scientific literacy post-test results were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results of data processing show that there is a difference in the mean score of the experimental class, namely 74.29 (good category), and the mean score of the control class of 57.08 (enough category). The Independent Sample t-test carried out obtained sig. 0.00<0.05. The results of this research prove that the use of a learning approach based on the Pacu Jalur Tradition is effective in increasing the scientific literacy of senior high school students.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the increase in student learning gains by implementing the TGT-type cooperative model through Kahoot media on mechanical wave material in class XI SMA N 2 Singingi. The research uses Quasi-Experimental Design type of research with a "post-test only control group design". The instrument used when collecting information was objective test questions on mechanical wave material for class XI high school. The test questions consist of 15 objective questions that refer to 5 cognitive domain indicators. Student learning outcome data is explained both descriptively and inferentially. The learning outcomes of students who applied the TGT model were in a good category, namely 72.8% for the experimental class and 65.9% in the quite good category for the conventional class. So it is concluded that the use of the TGT-type cooperative model assisted by the Kahoot application can improve the cognitive learning outcomes of students in class XI SMA N 2 Singingi.

Abstract

The research aims to increase critical thinking skills, interest in learning physics, and alternative energy materials through the PBL model. This type of research applies classroom action research (CAR) with the subject of research being class X.5 students at SMA 4 Pekanbaru, totaling 36 students. CAR is carried out in 2 cycles with the stages of each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection uses observation sheets, tests of critical thinking skills, and learning interest questionnaires. Data on critical thinking skills and interest in learning were analyzed descriptively through data obtained in cycles 1 and 2. The results of the research were: 1) students' critical thinking abilities increased from cycle 1 to cycle 2, based on observation results, it increased from the sufficient category in cycle I to the good category in cycle II and test results increased from middle category in cycle I to high category in cycle II, 2) students' interest in learning increased with a score of 76.08 in cycle I to 79.75 in cycle II with the same category, namely high. It was concluded that the application of worksheet students with the PBL model was able to improve the critical thinking skills and interest in learning of class X.5 students at SMA 4 Pekanbaru in learning physics about alternative energy materials.

Abstract

The research aims to produce physics teaching materials regarding rectilinear motion that are suitable for application to class X students at SMA 1 Limapuluh and determine student responses and the effectiveness of the teaching materials developed. The research subjects were class X Science 4 students at SMAN 1 Limapuluh, totaling 32 students. This type of research uses research and development (R&D) with a 4D model. The research instrument consisted of a validation questionnaire for material experts and media experts, teacher response questionnaires, and student responses to physics teaching materials based on Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL). The results of data analysis obtained an average material expert validation of 90.67 with appropriate criteria, media expert validation obtained an average result of 91.60 with appropriate criteria. The validation results of educational practitioners by physics teachers obtained an average result of 90.81 with appropriate criteria. Student responses in the small group test got an average result of 80.07 with very good criteria and the large group test got an average result of 83.28 with very good criteria. The level of effectiveness of teaching materials was obtained from students' pretest and posttest scores with an N-Gain of 0.67 as a medium criterion. Overall, it is concluded that the CTL-based physics teaching materials developed are feasible and effective for increasing students' understanding of physics learning.

Abstract

Big changes have occurred in the 21st century due to technological advances and rapid developments in various fields. The key to success in facing the challenges of the 21st century is scientific literacy, namely the ability to understand, communicate and apply scientific concepts in real life. However, in reality, practicing 21st-century skills is still rarely done because learning is teacher-centered. This research aims to improve students' scientific literacy skills through a problem-based learning model. The research was conducted in class X MS 4 with 28 students. The research was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of 4 stages: planning, implementation, observation for evaluation, and reflection. From the comparative analysis of scientific literacy abilities in cycles 1 and cycle 2, it was found that scientific literacy abilities in cycle 1 with an average score of 67 in the middle category experienced an increase in cycle 2 with an average score of 77 in the high categories. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that applying the problem-based learning model can improve students' scientific literacy abilities in physics materials.

Abstract

Science education in Indonesia faces challenges in increasing students' scientific literacy, especially at the secondary level. One of the problems faced is the lack of student involvement in science learning relevant to their context. This research aims to improve the scientific literacy skills of class VIII students at SMPN 4 Dumai by applying science-physics learning based on coastal fishermen's activities on work and energy material. The research method used is experimental research using 2 class groups, namely the experimental and control classes. The population of this research was class VIII students at SMPN 4 Dumai. The instrument used to collect data was the results of students' scientific literacy ability tests. The results of the research show that the application of science-physics learning based on coastal fishing activities results in higher scientific literacy abilities and increases significantly. Apart from that, the application of this learning can increase students' interest in linking their daily lives with learning material. Science-physics learning based on coastal fishing activities is effective in increasing students' scientific literacy in work and energy material for class VIII junior high school students.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a puzzle-based module on solar system material to increase the learning motivation of class VII junior high school students. This Research and Development (R&D) uses the ADDIE model development stage in developing puzzle-based modules by combining several types of puzzles, such as spelling puzzles, crossword puzzles, and the thing puzzle. The research subjects were 23 class VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru. Data was collected using validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and student learning motivation questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used were validity analysis, practicality, and motivation questionnaire analysis before and after using the puzzle-based module. The research results show: 1) The feasibility of the puzzle-based module is 90% by material experts and 86% by media experts, 2) The puzzle-based module developed is stated to be very practical with a percentage of 94%, 3) The average percentage of the overall initial motivation of students before using a puzzle-based module was 55.74, while the final motivation after using the module was 81.61. The average increase in students' learning motivation was 25.87 and the average N-Gain was 0.59 in the medium category. Therefore, it is concluded that using puzzle-based modules on solar system material in the learning process can increase the motivation of class VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru.
