Abstract

This study aims to analyse and provide an overview of the background to the establishment of the Jama'iyyah Mahmudiyah Tanjung Pura Langkat as an Islamic educational institution. The focus of this study is an analysis of the religious, social and political factors underlying the establishment of the Jama'iyyah Mahmudiyah. This study employs a qualitative approach based on library research, utilising documentation and interviews. Data was collected and subsequently analysed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results and findings of this study are as follows: firstly, the Jama'iyyah Mahmudiyah was founded on 31 December 1912 H or 22 Muharram 1330 M, on the initiative and at the suggestion of the Sultanate of Langkat, the ulama and the community. Secondly, several underlying factors include: religious factors, evidenced by the Sultan’s devotion to Islam and his desire to promote an ideology consistent with Islamic teachings and aligned with the beliefs of the Sultan of Langkat. Social factors reflect the Sultan’s concern for the education and equality of his people to improve their welfare, standard of living and mindset. Political factors were intended to secure the Sultan of Langkat’s support from the ulama and garner public sympathy regarding the Sultanate of Langkat’s position in its political manoeuvring.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Macroprudential Inclusive Financing Ratio (RPIM) policy on the financing behavior and inclusivity performance of Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) in Indonesia, particularly in supporting the 30% MSME financing target mandated by Bank Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach with quarterly time-series data from 2016Q1 to 2024Q4 sourced from OJK, Bank Indonesia, BPS, the World Bank, and WHO, the study applies the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to analyze short-run and long-run relationships between MSME financing and several determinants, including bank-specific factors (FDR, NPF, ROA), macroeconomic indicators (GDP, inflation, BI Rate), and policy dummies representing RPIM implementation and the COVID-19 pandemic. The results reveal that the RPIM policy has a positive effect on total MSME financing but does not significantly increase its proportion relative to total financing. The policy’s impact is more evident in working capital financing than in investment financing, suggesting that Islamic banks tend to expand short-term, liquidity-oriented MSME loans rather than long-term investments. These findings imply that while the RPIM policy has improved financing volumes, achieving structural inclusivity requires enhanced policy incentives and risk-sharing mechanisms to encourage long-term MSME investment. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on the early effectiveness of the RPIM policy in Indonesia’s Islamic banking sector and offering policy insights for strengthening inclusive and sustainable financing.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies used by Islamic Religi ous Education teachers in building the character of students at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah Purwantoro. The presence of technology and its development has an impact on the character formation of students. This has become a particular concern for teachers, especially Islamic Religious Education teachers. A qualitative approach was used in this study using the case study method. Data were collected through triangulation, including direct observation within the madrasah environment; in-depth interviews with the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah Purwantoro; as well as document analysis. Based on the research findings, religious education plays a crucial role in  the character development of students at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah Purwantoro. Therefore, the presence of Islamic Religious Education teachers is highly influential in building students’ character. The strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Barokah Purwantoro encompass three main aspects: classroom instructional strategies, exemplary behavior strategies, and habituation strategies. The implementation of this strategy has shown an increase in student discipline in terms of worship, although inconsistency in behavior outside the madrasah environment is still an issue. The success of this program is supported by the collaboration between the madrasah and parents, as well as the availability of worship facilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the historical transformation and the role of the Yayasan Perguruan Islamiyah in shaping the Islamic education system in Pontianak, particularly in maintaining Islamic values amid the dynamics of contemporary education. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with foundation administrators, school principals, teachers, students, and history lecturers, and were supported by observation and documentation studies. The research was conducted in July 2025. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation techniques used to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that Yayasan Perguruan Islamiyah plays a pioneering role in modern Islamic education through its transformation from traditional religious study circles into a formal education system. In addition, the foundation functions as an agent of social transformation by promoting inclusive education, particularly for women, and contributes to producing educated Muslim generations through the integration of faith, knowledge, piety, and culture. However, the institution faces structural challenges, including a decline in student enrollment due to competition with public schools and limited financial resources. Islamic educational institutions need to strengthen their value-based identity while also innovating in curriculum and educational management to remain relevant to contemporary developments.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the high risk of disasters in North Sumatra and the importance of effective government public communication in crisis situations, particularly through online media. This study aims to analyze how government public communication messages are represented and framed in Kompas.com news coverage related to disaster management. The method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design and qualitative content analysis. The data consists of Kompas.com news articles from the end of November to December 2025, selected purposively based on thematic relevance. The analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, coding, interpretation of meaning, and drawing conclusions using framing theory. The results show that the media tends to frame disasters as emergencies with the main cause being natural factors, and presents the government as the main actor that is responsive through evacuation, aid distribution, and direct visits to disaster sites. Furthermore, there is a tendency for framing to build a positive image of the government, although in some cases criticisms regarding environmental aspects and policies have emerged. The conclusion of this study indicates that media framing plays a significant role in shaping public perception of government communication, thus requiring synergy between the government and the media to produce accurate, balanced, and reliable information in disaster situations.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) instruction for inclusive students in a pesantren educational setting. The background of this study is based on the need for adaptive and responsive learning that accommodates the diversity of students’ abilities, including those with special needs, who require a more participatory and contextual learning approach. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation of the PBL-based PAI learning process. The results indicate that the application of the PBL model enhances students’ active engagement in the learning process, fosters critical thinking skills, and deepens their understanding of religious concepts. Additionally, this model provides space for students with special needs to learn according to their individual abilities and learning styles through group work and the resolution of real-world problems relevant to daily life. Challenges identified include limited learning resources and the need for intensive support for certain students. Nevertheless, overall, the implementation of PBL in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) has proven effective in creating inclusive, interactive, and meaningful learning. Thus, the Problem-Based Learning model can serve as a relevant alternative learning strategy to support inclusive Islamic religious education within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

The tax ratio is an important indicator for assessing a country’s tax revenue performance; however, in Indonesia it remains relatively low and volatile. This study analyzes the trend of the tax ratio in Indonesia over the period 2010–2024 and evaluates the stability of tax revenue performance within the context of macroeconomic dynamics. A quantitative descriptive approach is employed using secondary time-series data on tax revenue and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The results indicate that the tax ratio ranged between 8.95% and 11.11%, showing a fluctuating pattern with a notable decline during 2016–2020 and a limited recovery in the post-pandemic period. These findings suggest that improvements in economic activity have not been fully reflected in tax revenue performance. Accordingly, stronger tax policies and administrative reforms are required to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of revenue mobilization.
