Abstract

Most of the Indonesian Muslim community, such as educators, students, and university students, do not know that Indonesia has an original tafsir work coordinated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. It seems that the original tafsir by the Ministry of Religious Affairs is not popular with the people of Indonesia. On YouTube channel ‘Rumah Fiqih’ it was conveyed directly by ustadz Ahmad Sarwat, Lc., MA. that the Ministry of Religion's tafsir is not the original title, but the Qur’an and its Tafsir. This tafsir is not available for free sale in bookstores or markets, so only certain people can have this Ministry of Religious Affairs tafsir. The research method uses qualitative descriptive, library research, the data collection method uses primary and secondary data. Al-Qur'an and Tafsirnya by the Ministry of Religion, there are two versions of prints, namely Ijmali and Tahlili interpretations, what attracts the author's attention is the long process of preparing this interpretation, one of the interesting things among several works of interpretation from the Ministry of Religion is that the Al-Qur'an and Tafsirnya use the tahlili method. Actually, this tafsir can be owned by anyone, through submission of a request letter, and can be downloaded through the Pustaka Lajnah website in soft copy form. Thus, the Muslim community should already know the existence and popularity of the Qur'an and its Tafsir or what we often call the tafsir of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, because it turns out that although we are difficult to get this tafsir in its physical form, we can have it in another version.

Abstract

This paper purposes to discuss how the hermeneutical model offered by Muhammad Syahrur in understanding the Koran, namely the theory of hudud and examples of its application in responding to problems in society. This research is included in the type of qualitative research using literature study methods. The method used in the analysis is a descriptive method of analysis through Muhammad Syahrur's limitation theory approach. The result of this study is that Syahrur's Hermeneutics, in this case is the hudūd theory, which is a completely new and original concept in the study of interpretation. Boundary theory introduces a construction in understanding the verses of muhkamat (law) where it states that in the process, there are two main dimensional movements in Islamic teachings, namely istiqamah and hanifiyyah. Istiqamah (constant movement) is a rule that has been established by Allah SWT and hanfiyyah is a change from time and place that is always dynamic. So that the ijtihad space is carried out as the hanifiyyah progresses but remains under the decree (hudud) of Allah SWT. An example of applying this concept is when understanding the verses about the headscarf and female genitalia. Based on Syahrur's observations, the minimum limits for a woman's private parts are al juyub (breasts, genitals, under the armpits and buttocks) while the maximum limits are the entire body except the face and palms. However, Syahrur's understanding certainly has quite risky consequences when applied to the present. Even though he received a lot of criticism, Syahrur's idea certainly became a breakthrough in Islamic thought which has a desire to be the answer to problems in society.

Abstract

A Muslim is obliged to seek knowledge. The position of knowledge is the main thing in the Islamic religion, regardless of age, gender or social status, everyone is required to study until the end of life. The process of seeking knowledge certainly cannot be separated from an educator, and the best educator is the Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam, in whose treatise there is an order to practice knowledge or teach. We can see this in the Al-Qur'an and supporting evidence, namely As-Sunnah. The type of research used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach method and a library research approach. The results of this research are that there is an obligation to teach, practice the knowledge possessed in the Al-Qur'an and As-Sunnah, which is applied with all efforts to achieve the best results, with sincerity without expecting anything in return except only from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.

Abstract

This research explores the concepts of deep structure and surface structure in the context of the interpretation of the word “qiradah” based on the analysis of Noam Chomsky's theory on Surah Al-Baqarah 65. Chomsky, a linguistic expert, developed the transformative-generative theory, providing a profound understanding of language. In this theory, Chomsky emphasizes that language consists of the surface structure, which is the visible part of language, and the deep structure, which is the core meaning of language. The author employs a qualitative method, reviewing relevant prior works for this discussion. The aim is to validate the applicability of Noam Chomsky's linguistic theory in understanding language. The study reveals that language indeed has both surface and deep structures, particularly in the interpretation of the word “qiradah” in Surah Al-Baqarah 65. The surface structure signifies the physical transformation into apes that happened to the Children of Israel, while the deep structure or core meaning indicated by the word “qiradah” is the transformation of the heart and behavior resembling apes, not the physical change itself.

Abstract

The verses of the Qur'an, when examined in terms of their reasons for revelation, can be grouped into two categories. First, there are verses or surahs revealed without being associated with a specific reason. Second, there are verses or surahs revealed due to a background reason. Sometimes, these serve as responses to ongoing issues or answers to questions posed. The second category, though containing fewer verses, is extensively discussed in the field of Ulumul Qur'an. Understanding the asbabun nuzul (reasons for revelation) allows an individual to comprehend the substantial meaning of a verse – something that caused the revelation of a verse or several verses containing events or explaining their laws at the time of the occurrence of those events. On the contrary, one might misinterpret the messages of the Qur'an by neglecting the circumstances or situations that underlie them.

Abstract

Even thought it is only found in one verse in one letter, the parable about small animals and other animals like them has attracted great attention in the form of research. In this case, Allah is not ashamed and even makes it an example (matsal) in the Al-Qur’an, namely in Surah Al-Baqarah [2]: 26. In this verse, the animal used an example is contained in the term ba’ûdhatan famâ fauqahâ. Therefore, this article attempts to examine the interpretation of the verse, especially the interpretation of the term ba’ûdhatan famâ fauqahâ in it, based on the perspective of al-tafsîr al-tarbawî and al-i’jâz al-‘ilmî. This research uses a type of qualitative research with a literature or library study approach combined with the thematic interpretation method (tafsîr maudhû’î) because it examines the interpretation of shcolar moslem towards verses of the Al-Qur’an. The data collection technique uses documentary technique, while the data analysis uses decriptive interpretative content analysis technique. The result of the research show that in general, based on the opinion of the majority of shcolar moslem, the term ba’ûdhatan famâ fauqahâ is interpreted as mosquitoes (ba’ûdhah) and other animals that are smaller than if (famâ fauqahâ), including in the perspective of al-tafsîr al-tarbawî and al-i’jâz al-‘ilmî. What is distinctive, in al-i’jâz al-‘ilmî’s perspective, which is more widely revealed is the aspects of miracle as creatures created by Allah that deserve high attention to be more aware in drawing closer to Him, especially when used as an example.
