Abstract

Learning motivation constitutes a critical determinant of academic success, particularly in science education at the elementary level (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah/MI). Despite its importance, conventional teaching methods often fail to adequately engage students and stimulate their intrinsic interest in science subjects, necessitating innovative pedagogical approaches. This study aims to determine the effect of interactive learning media on science learning motivation among MI students, comparing its effectiveness against conventional teaching methods in fostering student engagement and enthusiasm for scientific inquiry. The study employed an experimental research design utilizing a pretest-posttest control group configuration. The research sample consisted of two classes: an experimental group receiving instruction through interactive learning media and a control group taught using conventional methods. Learning motivation data were collected through a validated questionnaire instrument and analyzed using independent samples t-test to assess between-group differences in motivation levels. The findings revealed that the use of interactive learning media significantly increased science learning motivation among MI students compared to conventional instructional approaches. Statistical analysis demonstrated meaningful differences between experimental and control groups, with students exposed to interactive media exhibiting higher motivation scores across multiple dimensions including interest, persistence, and engagement with science content. Interactive learning media effectively enhances science learning motivation at the MI level, outperforming traditional teaching methods in stimulating student interest and enthusiasm for scientific learning. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the integration of interactive media into elementary science curricula. Theoretically, the findings reinforce constructivist learning principles emphasizing active engagement and multimedia stimulation in knowledge acquisition. Practically, educators and curriculum developers are encouraged to adopt interactive learning technologies as standard pedagogical tools to optimize science learning outcomes. Policy implications include institutional investment in educational technology infrastructure and professional development programs equipping teachers with competencies to effectively implement interactive media in classroom settings.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the integrated Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and Automatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA) in supporting navigational awareness during ship operations. The research aims to analyze how these systems are operationally utilized, how their integration enhances situational awareness, and how human factors influence their effectiveness—including potential limitations and risks associated with electronic navigation. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through onboard observations during actual voyages, semi-structured interviews with deck officers, and document analysis of navigation logs, passage plans, radar screenshots, ECDIS tracks, and company safety manuals. Data were analyzed using thematic content analysis to identify recurring patterns across observational data, interview transcripts, and documentation. The findings indicate that the integrated use of ECDIS and ARPA significantly supports navigational awareness by improving target tracking, route monitoring, and decision-making processes. However, system effectiveness is highly dependent on operator competence, situational judgment, and proper interpretation of electronic information. Overreliance on electronic systems, limited system understanding, and insufficient alarm management were identified as potential risks. The study concludes that while ECDIS and ARPA integration enhances navigational safety, continuous training, procedural discipline, and awareness of system limitations are essential to ensure effective and safe navigation.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to identify trends in reporting on corruption cases in state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and ministries in Kompas Daily during the 2020–2024 period. The method used was quantitative content analysis with a sample of 250 news items selected using probability sampling (simple random sampling). This study covers the institutions most frequently involved, the types of corruption that occur, the positions of the perpetrators, the modus operandi, and the amount of state losses. The analysis results show that ministries are the institutions most frequently reported on for corruption (59%), while state-owned enterprises (BUMN) are in second place (41%). Overall, these findings indicate that the problem of corruption in both institutions is inseparable from weak internal oversight, high centralization of authority, and governance vulnerabilities. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening transparency, accountability, and public control in efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics and prospects of the halal industry in Indonesia, highlighting the shift in global consumption toward a values-based lifestyle. Indonesia, as the largest halal consumer, faces a paradox: massive consumption (projected at US$282 billion by 2025) while global production lags behind. This study aims to analyze consumption, the role of the sharia economy, the effectiveness of government policies, halal supply chain management, and the challenges and opportunities for Indonesia to become a global halal hub. Using a systematic literature review of indexed journals and government documents (Law 33/2014, Government Regulation 42/2024), this study finds that increased consumption is driven by government preference and support. The sharia economy contributes through principles of fairness and financial instruments. Government policies, particularly mandatory certification by BPJPH, LPH, BSN, and KNEKS, strengthen infrastructure. The halal supply chain is crucial but is hampered by costs and understanding among MSMEs. Challenges include low awareness, suboptimal human resources, local competitiveness, a consumerist mentality, MSME certification costs, limited infrastructure, global competition, and a lack of international standardization. Significant opportunities come from the domestic market, government commitment, strong development pillars, digitalization, and the ambition to become a global halal hub. This research bridges the gap between high consumption and low production, offering strategic perspectives for Indonesia to become a leading global halal producer and hub.

Abstract

Bullying remains one of the most prevalent forms of violence experienced by students in Indonesian educational settings. Manifesting through physical, verbal, and psychological aggression, bullying not only disrupts students' sense of safety but also violates children's fundamental rights to protection, well-being, and equitable access to education. National educational data reveal a consistently increasing trend in bullying cases across levels, indicating that the problem is systemic rather than incidental. This study aims to analyze bullying through the lens of Indonesia's educational foundations—philosophical, psychological, sociological, and juridical—using a literature-based research design. The findings show that bullying contradicts the philosophical values of Pancasila and highlights gaps in character education implementation. Psychologically, the issue is linked to students' moral development stages and the limited availability of emotional literacy and counseling services in schools. From a sociological standpoint, bullying is reinforced by school culture, peer-group dynamics, and broader social influences, including digital media. Juridically, although Indonesia has comprehensive regulations protecting children, the implementation remains weak due to inadequate reporting systems, SOPs, and enforcement mechanisms in schools. The study concludes that despite strong educational foundations, bullying persists due to cultural, structural, and systemic deficiencies. Strengthening preventive systems, enhancing teacher capacity, improving parental involvement, and enforcing existing regulations are essential steps toward creating a safer educational environment for all students.

Abstract

Forest and land fires constitute a critical environmental challenge that extends beyond fire origin areas to affect urban residential communities. Pekauman Village exemplifies regions experiencing significant consequences from such fires, particularly manifested through deteriorating air quality and community well-being disruptions. This study aims to systematically describe community perceptions regarding the causal factors, multidimensional impacts, and adaptive strategies employed to address forest and land fire incidents in Pekauman Village, while evaluating the effectiveness of existing community responses. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach utilizing triangulated data collection methods including structured observations, in-depth interviews with community members, and comprehensive documentation analysis to capture nuanced community perspectives and experiences. Findings reveal that community members predominantly attribute fire occurrences to anthropogenic activities as the primary causal factor. The most pronounced impacts identified include minor respiratory health complications and substantially reduced comfort levels in daily activities due to persistent haze conditions. Interestingly, despite widespread environmental degradation, economic impacts remain minimally perceived by residents, suggesting differential vulnerability across impact dimensions. Nevertheless, fires demonstrably compromise overall quality of life through cumulative environmental and health stressors. The study concludes that human-induced factors dominate fire causation in community perception, with health and comfort dimensions representing primary concern areas. The limited economic impact perception indicates potential gaps in long-term consequence awareness or differential socioeconomic resilience mechanisms within the community. This research effectively captures grassroots perspectives on fire management challenges, providing empirical foundation for developing community-centered mitigation strategies and policy interventions that address both immediate health concerns and broader environmental sustainability in fire-prone regions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of TikTok social media use on the mental health of adolescents at SMAN 1 Pangandaran, West Java. TikTok, now one of the most popular social media media platforms among adolescents, offering a variety of content that has the potential to influence how adolescents interact with their social world and construct personal identities. The method used in this study was a qualitative case study approach, where data was obtained through in-depth interviews and direct observation of students at the school. The results revealed that TikTok has both positive and negative impacts on adolescent mental health. Positively, TikTok provides a platform for adolescents to express themselves, find a supportive community, and access useful information for personal development. However, more prominent negative impacts are the emergence of social anxiety, detrimental self-comparison, and pressure to gain recognition through the number of followers and interactions received on the platform. This study also shows that excessive scrolling habits have the potential to disrupt sleep quality and lead to other psychological disorders. While TikTok can be a positive platform for self-expression and learning, its negative impacts require more serious attention, particularly those related to social anxiety and self-dissatisfaction. Recommendations in this study include the importance of wise use TikTok by teenagers, the development of features that better support mental health by developers, and the need for parents and educators to provide more in-depth education on how to use social healthily media.

Abstract

Reliable road infrastructure is crucial for the economy. However, high traffic loads can accelerate damage to flexible pavements, primarily fatigue cracking and permanent deformation (rutting). This study evaluates the performance of pavement structures designed according to the Indonesian Pavement Design Manual (MDPJ) 2024 by comparing its damage predictions against international methods, namely the Asphalt Institute and AASHTO MEPDG, across various road classifications. Through mechanistic simulation using KENPAVE, the resulting strain values were used as input to predict the number of allowable load repetitions (ESAL) until failure occurs. The results show that all three methods consistently identify fatigue cracking as the critical damage type that occurs before rutting. However, there are significant differences in the magnitude of the predicted ESAL values. The Asphalt Institute method is the most conservative, producing the lowest fatigue cracking ESAL, while AASHTO MEPDG predictions are closer to, yet still lower than, the most optimistic predictions of MDPJ 2024. Therefore, this study concludes that further calibration of the MDPJ 2024 model with actual field data is essential to improve the accuracy of service life predictions for pavements in Indonesia.
