Abstract

Abstract  – This thesis discusses the efforts of Islamic Education teachers in improving the ability to read the Qur'an through the YouTube application among eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Marangkayu, Kutai Kartanegara. The research aims to describe (1) the efforts of Islamic Education teachers in enhancing the Qur'an reading skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Marangkayu, Kutai Kartanegara, and (2) the improvement of Qur'an reading skills through the YouTube application among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Marangkayu, Kutai Kartanegara. This type of research is qualitative, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this research are the Islamic Education teachers of eighth grade at SMP Negeri 4 Marangkayu, Kutai Kartanegara. The results of this study indicate that: the efforts of Islamic Education teachers include (1) forming a BTQ program, (2) providing motivation, (3) providing guidance, (4) peer tutoring, (5) learning through the YouTube application. To improve the reading ability of the Al-Qur’an among students in grade VIII, the Islamic Education teacher conducts (1) grouping students based on their reading ability of the Al-Qur’an, (2) encouraging reading the Al-Qur’an before starting the lesson, (3) using appropriate methods, (4) providing memorization exercises for students who read the Al-Qur’an fluently and special Iqro lessons for those who are still learning the hijaiyyah letters. The efforts of the Islamic Education teacher to enhance the reading ability of the Al-Qur’an are very appropriate by using the YouTube application for the students of SMP Negeri 4 Marangkayu, Kutai Karta Negara.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the implementation of the sociodrama role play method improves the understanding of commendable behavior in the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for class II students of SDN 001 Bontang Selatan in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model technique which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the sociodrama role play method was able to improve students' understanding of commendable behavioral values such as honesty, helping each other, and responsibility. Students who were actively involved in sociodrama activities showed a better understanding, and were able to associate moral values in everyday life. Teachers and principals also considered this method effective in building a pleasant learning atmosphere, increasing student participation, and strengthening character formation through contextual learning. The conclusion of this study is that the sociodrama role play method is an effective learning strategy in improving students' understanding of commendable behavior in elementary schools, especially if implemented with full support from teachers and the school environment. The uniqueness (novelty) of this study lies in the application of the sociodrama method in the context of Islamic Religious Education learning for elementary school students, which has not been the focus of much previous research. This method is proven to not only convey values theoretically, but also shape attitudes through direct experience.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using a holistic education model in improving the obligatory worship of female students at the Muhammadiyah boarding school in the 2024/2025 academic year. The holistic education model is seen as an approach that touches all aspects of student development, both spiritual, emotional, and social. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, self-assessment and documentation. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in the implementation of obligatory worship of female students after the implementation of the holistic education model. Thus, it can be concluded that the holistic education model is effective in improving the quality of obligatory worship of female students. These findings are expected to be a reference in the development of a more comprehensive and transformative Islamic boarding school education system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum method on the learning of kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts) at Syaichona Cholil Islamic Boarding School in Kutai Timur. The research employed a quantitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The research sample consisted of 25 students who had applied the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum method for one semester. The results showed that the implementation of this method significantly improved students’ understanding of classical Arabic grammar, learning motivation, and their ability to read and explain the contents of kitab kuning. Simple linear regression analysis produced a determination coefficient value of 0.523, indicating that this method contributed 52.3% to the improvement of students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum method is effective and worthy of being further developed in Islamic boarding school environments.

Abstract

This study explores how Islamic picture media can enhance the Fiqh learning abilities of third-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Syaichona Cholil in East Kutai during the 2024/2025 academic year. The research stems from the observation that many students struggle to grasp Fiqh material, largely because of its abstract and theoretical nature. To address this challenge, educators need learning media that align with the cognitive development of students at the elementary level. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study gathered data through classroom observations, interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers and students, and documentation of teaching and learning activities. The researchers analyzed the data inductively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Islamic picture media significantly improved the delivery of Fiqh material. The visual content made abstract concepts more concrete, engaging, and easier for students to understand. Students demonstrated increased interest and enthusiasm in class, and they showed stronger recall and comprehension of key topics such as ablution (wudu), prayer (salat), and dry ablution (tayammum). Teachers also reported a more dynamic and interactive classroom environment. In conclusion, the study confirms that Islamic picture media is an effective tool for improving students’ understanding of Fiqh. It not only supports conceptual learning but also creates a more enjoyable and participatory educational experience for both students and teachers.

Abstract

This article discusses the Implementation of the Mahir Tahsin Method in Improving the Fluency of Qur’anic Reading among Grade X Students at SMA Bahrul Ulum Bontang in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This study aims to describe: (1) the implementation of the Mahir Tahsin method in improving the fluency of Qur’anic reading among Grade X students at SMA Bahrul Ulum Bontang, and (2) the improvement in fluency of Qur’anic reading among those students. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were Grade X students participating in the Tahsin program. The findings show that the implementation of the Mahir Tahsin method was carried out through several steps: (1) using talaqqi and musyafahah methods with direct practice, (2) providing individual guidance tailored to each student's characteristics, (3) utilizing relevant learning media, and (4) encouraging students to regularly read the Qur’an correctly through daily routines. Additionally, to assess the improvement in students’ fluency, teachers conducted periodic evaluations—weekly, monthly, and annually. Although some students showed slow progress, overall, the students demonstrated significant improvement in their Qur’anic reading fluency. The implementation of the Mahir Tahsin method proved to have a positive impact on students' mastery of tajwid and fluency in Qur’anic reading. The consistency of the program implementation, special attention to students experiencing difficulties, and follow-up on evaluation results were key factors in the success of this method in fostering fluent Qur’anic reading aligned with tajwid rules.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of Quizizz as a learning medium to improve tajwid comprehension among Grade VII students at SMPIT Daarul Hikmah Boarding School Bontang. The research refers to a series of systematically designed learning processes utilizing interactive digital media, namely Quizizz, as a tool in tajwid instruction. Quizizz is a game-based learning platform that allows educational content to be delivered through engaging and interactive quizzes. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation in the form of pre-test scores, post-test scores, and oral tajwid assessment results. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the use of Quizizz has a positive impact on students’ understanding of tajwid. Teachers utilized interactive features such as automatic scoring, leaderboards, and paper mode during apperception, practice, and evaluation activities. The learning process became more enjoyable, interactive, and competitive, encouraging students to be more active, confident, and focused. An improvement in understanding was evident from the increase in the average pre-test score of 72.21 to a post-test score of 86.16. Oral assessment results also showed that all students improved, with most falling into the “good” category and one student achieving the “very good” category. These findings indicate that Quizizz is effective as a tajwid learning medium that supports students’ comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of the Game Based Learning (GBL) method in improving the understanding of faith and morals among third-grade students at MI As'adiyah Bontang. This study is expected to provide new insights into the development of more interactive and applicable learning methods to strengthen students' understanding of religion and morals. This study uses a qualitative approach to gain an in-depth understanding of the influence of GBL on students' understanding of faith and morals. In this study, data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documents. Interviews were conducted with the principal, faith and morals teachers, and students to explore their views on game based learning. For data analysis, this study used thematic analysis, where data obtained from interviews and observations were analyzed by identifying the main themes related to GBL in improving students' understanding of aqidah akhlak. The results of this study are expected to provide new insights into the development of more interactive and applicable learning methods, as well as contribute to improving the quality of religious education in elementary schools. The conclusion shows that the application of game based learning can be a useful alternative in the learning process in elementary schools, especially in teaching aqidah and akhlak. With better support from facilities and resources, the application of GBL has great potential to improve the quality of learning and character of students in the future

Abstract

This study explores the management of project-based learning through the beach clean-up program at SDIT Yabis Bontang. The purpose of this research is to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors of project-based learning at SDIT Yabis Bontang. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, supported by source triangulation and technique triangulation. Data sources consist of three informants: the principal, classroom teachers, and students. After data collection, the information was reduced, presented, and conclusions were drawn. The findings indicate that the planning of project-based learning at SDIT Yabis Bontang involves stages such as socialization, reviewing the guidelines, determining the theme, time, budget, and objectives of the project. Implementation takes place outside the classroom, incorporating local wisdom through a beach clean-up program at Kresik Marangkayu. Evaluation is conducted by classroom teachers in collaboration with parents, while the principal supervises the activities. Supporting factors include strong collaboration with parent associations and financial contributions. Inhibiting factors involve the large number of students and limited bathing facilities, which prolong the activity. Solutions to these challenges include collaborating with parent associations and beach management to provide water and bathing facilities. The study concludes that project-based learning management through the beach clean-up program at SDIT Yabis Bontang is carried out through coordinated planning, implementation, and evaluation involving the principal, teachers, and parents. Obstacles can be addressed in accordance with the structured planning of the project-based learning activity at Kresik Marangkayu Beach.

Abstract

This article discusses the efforts of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in forming student learning discipline. Learning discipline is one of the important factors that determine students’ academic success. Islamic Religious Education teachers have efforts not only in delivering religious material, but also in forming students’ character and discipline from an early age. One effort that can be applied is through giving rewards. This study aims to (1) determine the efforts of Islamic Religious Education teachers in forming student learning discipline through giving rewards (2) and how the application of these rewards can form student learning discipline. The research used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, self-assessment and documentation. The subjects of the study were Islamic Religious Education teachers and class 1B students. Data analysis used is Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Conclusion Drawing. The results of the study show that Islamic Religious Education teachers play an active role in forming student discipline through various strategies, such as role models, direction, positive reinforcement, and the application of rewards given in the form of verbal praise, star stickers, and stationery. Rewards are given fairly, consistently, and educationally, so as to foster student motivation to attend on time, complete assignments, and behave orderly during learning. In addition, the implementation of rewards also creates a positive, active, and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The conclusion of the research results is that the efforts of Islamic Religious Education teachers supported by the implementation of rewards are effectively able to form and strengthen students’ learning discipline from an early age.
