Abstract

This study was conducted with the intention of investigating the impact of utilizing the social media platforms Facebook and WhatsApp on the level of learning motivation in History among eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Kupang. The research approach employed was quantitative. The data analysis technique in this study applied product-moment correlation to measure the strength of the influence and the significance of the relationship between the independent variable (social media usage) and the dependent variable (learning motivation), with reference to the r-table value at a 5% significance level. Based on the process of data processing and analysis using the product-moment formula, a comparison between the calculated r-value (r-hitung) and the table r-value (r-tabel) was obtained. The calculation results indicated that the calculated r-value was greater than the table r-value. Specifically, the calculated r-value was recorded at 0.602, while the table r-value at a 5% significance level was 0.361. Thus, it can be stated that the calculated r-value significantly exceeded the table r-value at a 5% significance level (0.602 > 0.361). These findings indicate that there is an influence between the use of social media and students' learning motivation, with a contribution of influence amounting to 36%. This clarifies that the utilization of social media Facebook and WhatsApp has an impact on students' learning motivation.

Abstract

Globalization provides opportunities for local products to enter the global market. However, it has an impact on the increasing competition between domestic and foreign companies in the global market, and the increasing economic disparity between regions and between community groups. The purpose of writing this article is to describe in general the impact of globalization on regional economic transformation in Indonesia. The method used is a literature review of several published articles and a theoretical approach using the triangulation method to find the ideal answer to the topic raised. The search results indicate that regional economic changes in Indonesia, triggered by globalization, are evident in the shift in economic structure, the movement of labor from traditional to modern sectors, and changes in production methods that have become more efficient and intensive. The Indonesian government is addressing this dynamic with policies that support investment, enhance workforce skills, and diversify the economy to reduce dependence on specific sectors. Implementing the right strategy and cooperation between the government, private sector, and society, globalization can be utilized to encourage inclusive and sustainable economic growth. However, it is also very important to preserve local wisdom so that Indonesia's cultural identity is not lost.

Abstract

This study aims to thoroughly analyse how the integration of Islamic values and Betawi cultural wisdom can strengthen character education among university students in Jakarta, particularly within the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programme in the digital and global era. The primary objective of this research is to formulate a character education framework based on local and religious values that is adaptive to the challenges of the times and relevant to the needs of 21st-century learners. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive-qualitative approach. Data were collected from various sources, including books, academic journals, online articles, and official policy documents. Mendeley was used as a reference management tool, while NVivo 12 was utilised for thematic analysis and in-depth data interpretation. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic principles and Betawi cultural values into the curriculum structure significantly contributes to the formation of students’ character and morality. The flexibility of the Merdeka Curriculum and the MBKM programme allows for the contextual and applicable internalisation of these values. The success of this character education model largely depends on the synergy between higher education institutions, families, and communities as the three main pillars in shaping students who are morally upright, disciplined, and rooted in local culture. This study offers both theoretical and practical contributions in the form of a character education model that is contextual, rooted in local culture, and relevant to the increasingly digitalised and globalised educational landscap

Abstract

Plastic pollution in Ambon Bay poses a serious threat to the sustainability of marine ecosystems and the well-being of coastal communities. This study aims to analyze the ecological, social, and economic impacts of plastic waste accumulation and to evaluate effective management and mitigation strategies. Using a descriptive–qualitative method through literature review and regional data analysis, the findings show that increasing plastic production and weak waste management systems have led to ecosystem degradation, including coral reef damage, declining biodiversity, and reduced income for local fishers. From an Islamic perspective, environmental preservation is a mandate entrusted to humans as khalifah on earth; thus, marine pollution is considered a form of fasad (destruction) that violates the principle of natural balance. Therefore, waste management requires collaboration among the government, industry, and the community, grounded in the values of maslahah (public benefit), amanah (responsibility), and ihsan (excellence), to achieve the goals of maqasid shariah in ensuring equitable and sustainable environmental stewardship

Abstract

The complexity of the social environment in everyday life makes Social Studies (IPS) a fundamental subject in elementary education. However, the presentation of conventional, uniform instruction still fails to accommodate the significant diversity in students' learning readiness, interests, and learning styles. The purpose of this study is to identify, analyze, and propose practical, evidence-based differentiated learning strategies specifically tailored for elementary Social Studies content to effectively meet students' diverse learning styles. This study uses a qualitative research method, specifically a literature review, by drawing on major pedagogical frameworks, curriculum documents, and empirical studies regarding differentiation and Social Studies instruction in Elementary School. The results of the study indicate that the successful implementation of differentiation involves utilizing three main strategic areas: 1) Differentiated Content, for example, providing multi-modality resources such as historical graphic novels and audio clips; 2) Differentiated Process (for example, establishing varied Learning Centers or Learning Stations that cater to different sensory inputs); and 3) Differentiated Product, for example, allowing students to demonstrate mastery through visual mapping, oral presentations, or hands-on simulations. The research findings confirm that the application of these differentiated strategies significantly enhances student engagement, sharpens critical thinking skills, and results in a more comprehensive and meaningful understanding of core Social Studies concepts at the Elementary School level
