The Journal of Indonesian Tourism and Policy Studies (JITPS) covers tourism studies, recreation studies and policies related to their development in Indonesia. The expected research can also include studies on Indonesian tourism related to social, cultural, economic, political, management, health, environmental, technology, policy, etc. issues. The aim is to achieve the objectives of the Indonesian Journal of Tourism and Policy Studies, namely as a portal and instrument for the development of tourism science in Indonesia from various aspects and perspectives. Therefore, not only as paper-based-field-research, this journal will become a portal for tourism implementation studies and related literature reviews.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia has helped change public awareness of cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability (CHSE). This awareness also affects the improvement of the quality of services and products in the world of Indonesian tourism. Economic recovery affected by COVID-19 in the tourism sector, especially in the industry for organizing Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) activities, needs to be done with due observance of government regulations and international guidelines regarding the implementation of MICE activities. There needs to be a practical guide for the tourism industry, especially MICE in order to prepare activities, products and services according to the relevant regulations. This study focuses on guidelines for the implementation of cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability (CHSE) in organizing meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) made by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection through observation, oral interviews and literature study. This guide emphasizes the application of standard procedures for implementing MICE activities.

Abstract

The Gunung Padang site is one of the megalithic cultural heritage sites in West Java. Precisely located in the hamlet of Gunung Padang and Panggulan, Desa Karymukti, Kecamatan Campaka, Kabupaten Cianjur. The Gunung Padang site is inseparable from myths where myths developed in the local community and referring to local wisdom in the Priangan area alleged that this site is a place of worship of ancestral spirits, gods and fulfilling spiritual needs in the past. The existence of the site and the community around the Gunung Padang site has a role to revive the myth so that it becomes a value on the Gunung Padang site. In addition to living the myth, the local community also maintains that the physical building of the site is maintained and maintained. Values related to myths and local communities are formed through perceptions about living myths that provide their own strength for the existence of Gunung Padang which makes this site as a tourist attraction.

Abstract

Research on the application of the guide code of conduct for Muslim tour leader communities during the Covid19 pandemic is to determine the strategy for implementing the guide code of ethics for Muslim tour leader communities during the Covid19 pandemic. The sample in this study is the Muslim tour leader community, amounting to 200 respondents. The data analysis method used in this research is descriptive method using Importance performance analysis. Based on the survey results, there is an average value of the level of importance is 8.19 and the average value of the level of need is 7.39. This indicates that the overall application of the code of conduct for tourism has a high level of importance and also has a high level of need. The results of this study indicate that the application of the guide code of ethics during the Covid19 pandemic is in quadrant 1 (frst priority), quadrant 2 (keep it) and quadrant 4 (leave it).

Abstract

The Kota Tua Jakarta area is one of the leading tourist attractions in DKI Jakarta Province based on cultural heritage. Currently, the City Government of DKI Jakarta has carried out a revitalization, namely the construction of a rearrangement of the old city, so that it becomes an urban tourism area in the past (history). The purpose of this research is to build a community empowerment program as a tourist attraction and create a creative economy in Kota Tua. The concepts used are empowerment, community, attraction and creative economy. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and literature study. This research resulted in a community empowerment program, namely building community awareness and communication in creating economic improvements for the welfare of communities around Kota Tua. To realize the need for community information community mapping, namely the initial stage of conducting initial mapping of communities in Kota Tua, designing community empowerment for economic improvement and building the community's creative economy.

Abstract

As halal tourism demand show significant growth due to increase awareness of muslim tourists on consuming halal products and services during their travels, muslim millennials travelers becomes the most targeted market from destinations in the world, especially as they represent 25% of total tourism visitor arrivals. Therefore, this paper intends to reveal the perception of millennials on halal tourism and after that , the results to be projected in the development strategy of halal tourism in West Sumatera. It is an exploratory descriptive research in which primary data are collected through the distribution of questionnaire to 185 millennials in Jakarta. The results show that faith based needs especially the provision of halal food as well the opportunity to perform salaath and the availability of praying facilities along with water usage friendly washrooms are the most important services on their leisure travels. Muslim friendly accommodation, tourism attraction and shopping are the important facilities required, while the millennials search travel information and share their experience in social media. The most favorite tourism activities in halal tourism are adventure and family based tourism. To be successful in offering its halal tourism to millennials, West Sumatera should create its halal tourism products and services in accordance to the millennials tourists expectation.

Abstract

Art and folklore is a culture that has been passed down from the ancestors. Folklore is often used as research material and study material. Folklore must be used properly so that it can be useful for everyone. Folklore art itself has many elements such as artistic elements, namely drama, sound, literature, music, movement and fine arts. Folklore art is also one of the development tools in the tourism sector for schools, campuses, cultural villages, tourist attractions and other historical buildings. The use of folklore art can increase knowledge for children today, where culture in Indonesia must be sought first and it can be said that the culture in Indonesia has begun to decrease due to cultural acculturation. Through folklore, they can quickly gain knowledge about previous cultures that already exist and have been passed down from their ancestors. This research uses a qualitative method. The results showed that art and folklore have many benefits for the tourism sector. This paper will explain about how to use art and folklore for the development of Indonesia's tourism sector.

Abstract

This paper discusses the application of the 6P marketing mix (Product, Price, Place/Distribution, Promotion, Politics, and Public Opinion) by Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office through The Office of Tourism and Creative Economy in order to organize domestic MICE activities ( Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) in 2019 until 2020. This research uses the type of qualitative research and descriptive research with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and literature studies. The results of the study are suggested and recommended to The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office to open new jobs, actively holding MICE events, especially business to customers (B2C), and establish cooperation with stakeholders by providing legal certainty.

Abstract

This paper discusses how the Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village in marketing tourist attractions through social media. This research uses qualitative research supported by quantitative data. The data collection techniques in this final project are observation, interviews, literature study, and questionnaire. The results of this study suggest that Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village Activities Unit to further improve marketing especially through social media, multiply activities that are inviting many visitors, overcome negative responses that still exist in the community regarding Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village, and improve hospitality and conduct training for tour guides which will be provided in the future.

Abstract

Bidding is an offer letter for MICE (meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition) organizers made by MICE companies such as Event Organizers to compare prospective clients to select the Event Organizer to be selected as the host of the event. The purpose of this study is to find out what factors influence the success of a bidding event and how to succeed and win a bidding event. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data used in this study were obtained utilizing observation, interviews, and literature study. This research was conducted during the Field Work Practice Program at PT. Astrindo Convex. The results of this study indicate that the factors that influence the success of bidding events are by paying attention to the bidding stages, namely, bidding requirements, bidding preparation, bidding implementation strategies, and the key to success implemented by PT. Astrindo Convex in bidding, namely by making video documentation to complete the portfolio, prioritizing 3 event sectors, maintaining relationships with clients, and each event team preparing things that need to be prepared during bidding such as communication techniques, product knowledge, negotiation techniques, and appearance.

Abstract

This article discusses the operational management of Umrah plus tour packages at PT. Experience Ahsan Travel. The discussion described is the programs owned by Alisan Tours & Travel, preparations by Alisan Tours & Travel in undergoing the operational process of organizing Umrah plus tours, obstacles experienced by Alisan Tours & Travel in organizing Umrah plus tours, and analysis of the implementation of operational management in Umrah plus tour activities at PT Alamin Ahsan Travel. The data collection carried out by the author is based on direct observations in the field and literature studies, in a process carried out from the beginning of the internship to the end. This research is useful as a source of information on the management of plus tour packages.
