Abstract

In a competitive business environment, financial management decisions such as funding decisions, investment decisions, and dividend policies are key elements that influence a company's operational efficiency and financial performance. However, the direct impact of these decisions is often complex, involving mediating variables such as Economic Value Added (EVA). EVA measures the economic value added generated by a company after accounting for the cost of capital, where a positive EVA value indicates strong performance. Despite its importance, research explicitly exploring the relationship between EVA, financial management decisions, and financial performance is limited. This study aims to evaluate the simultaneous and partial effects of financial management decisions on financial performance and EVA, as well as the mediating role of EVA. This study uses an exploratory and survey-based approach with secondary data taken from the financial statements of 150 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2014 to 2017. A total of 37 companies were selected by purposive sampling and analyzed using SPSS and path analysis. The results showed that EVA is not significantly influenced by financial management decisions, either partially or simultaneously. Financial performance is partially influenced by funding and investment decisions but not significantly by EVA. In addition, EVA does not mediate the relationship between financial management decisions and financial performance. These findings indicate that although EVA provides insight into value creation, its role as a mediator in financial decision making is limited. The implications of this study are important for the development of theory and practice of corporate financial management.

Abstract

Flooding, a frequent natural disaster in Indonesia, is caused by several factors such as high-intensity rainfall, climate change, inadequate drainage and urban infrastructure challenges, impacting communities, infrastructure and economic activities. The lack of accurate and centralized data hinders government efforts to identify affected areas and respond effectively. Named Entity Recognition (NER), a machine learning-based information extraction tool, offers the potential for geocoding flood-related data from social media, such as Twitter. The purpose of this research is to develop a Named Entity Recognition (NER)-based model to extract location information from Twitter and visualize flood impacts through geocoding. The method used is a combination of Qualitative Analysis with Machine Learning and Geospatial Analysis to assess flooding impacts using Twitter data. Initially, a qualitative analysis of tweets extracts flood-related keywords to identify patterns. Then, Named Entity Recognition (NER) identifies locations, which are converted into geographic coordinates through geocoding for map visualization. The results show that location extraction from flood-related tweets using the Named Entity Recognition (NER) model and geocoding produces very useful and accurate data. About 50% of the flood-related tweets included location tokens, which shows the importance of geographic information in understanding the impact of disasters. The location extraction process using the NER model proved to be effective, although there were some discrepancies between the extracted location tokens and the actual geographic data, especially at the more detailed location level. However, the evaluation results show that 99.5% of the extracted locations correspond to valid locations, especially in the Indonesian region. This shows that the use of the NER model and geocoding is highly effective in analyzing flood impacts and provides significant benefits in disaster management and geospatial analysis based on social media data.

Abstract

The 2024 Simultaneous Elections are a significant moment in Indonesia's democracy, focusing on citizens' constitutional rights, especially the right to vote and be elected. However, challenges such as issues with the accuracy of the Permanent Voter List (DPT), accessibility for vulnerable groups, and law enforcement against violations of voting rights remain critical. This study aims to analyze the legal protection of citizens' constitutional rights in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections, identify challenges in protecting these rights, and evaluate the role of election bodies like the General Elections Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and the Constitutional Court (MK). Using a qualitative approach and library research, this study reviews relevant literature, legislation, and reports from related institutions. The findings reveal that despite a clear legal framework, challenges persist, particularly concerning the DPT's accuracy, accessibility for vulnerable groups, and law enforcement. The role of election bodies like KPU, Bawaslu, and MK has not been fully effective in addressing these issues. The research concludes that further efforts are needed to improve the DPT system, enhance access for vulnerable groups, and strengthen law enforcement. The study emphasizes the importance of strengthening oversight, improving voter education, and optimizing technology to protect constitutional rights and ensure election integrity.

Abstract

Abstract

The Nibakng tradition is a vital cultural heritage that embodies local wisdom and is closely tied to the community's identity. However, with the rapid advancement of globalization and modernization, the tradition faces the risk of disappearing. This study aims to analyze cultural promotion policies and their role in preserving the Nibakng religious practice, which is embraced by the Dayak Bidayuh community in the border region of Siding District, Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. A qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with local communities, traditional leaders, and policymakers, alongside document analysis of cultural promotion policies. The findings revealed that while these policies have contributed to the preservation of Nibakng, several obstacles remain, such as limited budget allocation, insufficient focus on involving younger generations, and challenges in local implementation. The study concludes that cultural promotion policies can help strengthen local cultural identity if they are supported by collaboration among local governments, traditional institutions, and communities. This research emphasizes the need for more comprehensive policy improvements, greater youth involvement, and enhanced cross-border cooperation with neighboring countries to ensure the sustainability of the Nibakng tradition, ultimately fortifying national identity in the border region.
