Abstract

The process from pregnancy to childbirth is a natural phase for women, during which spousal support plays a critical role. To enhance this support, a pocket guide can provide structured and accessible information for husbands. This study aims to assess the impact of using a pocket guide on husbands' knowledge, support, and compliance during childbirth preparation at the Bojonggede Health Center in Bogor Regency. A quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test control group design was used. The population consisted of husbands of women in their third trimester of pregnancy, selected through total sampling. The study was conducted from May to June 2024. Data analysis using the Mann-Whitney test revealed significant effects: the pocket guide improved knowledge (p = 0.002), support (p = 0.013), and compliance (p = 0.001) in the childbirth preparation process. The N-Gain score of 56.93% indicates moderate effectiveness. These findings suggest that pocketbooks are a useful tool in improving husbands' roles in supporting their partners through childbirth. The study concludes that pocketbooks positively influence husbands' involvement and recommends their use by health workers, especially midwives, in antenatal care settings to foster greater spousal engagement during pregnancy and childbirth.

Abstract

Colostrum provision is a vital effort in reducing infant mortality, as it contains essential nutrients and antibodies for newborns. However, post-cesarean mothers are at greater risk of delayed or absent breastfeeding initiation due to postoperative discomfort. This study aimed to identify the factors influencing colostrum provision among post-cesarean mothers at RSI Al-Ikhlas Pemalang, focusing on age, education, knowledge, parity, and family support. A quantitative analytical method with a cross-sectional design was employed. Data were collected through structured questionnaires from 66 post-cesarean mothers. Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test revealed that education, knowledge, and family support significantly influenced colostrum provision (p 0.05), whereas age and parity did not show a significant relationship (p 0.05). Furthermore, multivariate analysis using logistic regression identified family support as the most dominant factor affecting colostrum provision. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening educational interventions and fostering family involvement to support early breastfeeding practices in post-cesarean mothers. In conclusion, education, knowledge, and particularly family support plays crucial roles in ensuring the successful provision of colostrum, with family support emerging as the most influential factor. Health professionals are encouraged to engage families as active participants in promoting optimal breastfeeding practices.

Abstract

The high number of HIV/AIDS infections that continue to increase, especially among young people or teenagers, makes this a serious problem. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS, one of which is through health promotion. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the effectiveness of health promotion media between leaflets and powerpoint on the level of adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS at SMA YABAKII 2 Gandrungmangu Cilacap. The research method used was pre-experimental with a two-group pre-test post-test design. Sampling with a total sampling of 116 respondents. Based on the results of the study, the average knowledge after being given health promotion about HIV/AIDS with leaflet media was 18.05 while with powerpoint media it was 18.60. The Mann Whitney test results obtained a p-value of 0.028 smaller than 0.05 (0.028 0.05) which means there is a difference in the effectiveness of health promotion media between leaflets and powerpoint. The use of powerpoint media is more effective than leaflet to increase adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS at SMA YABAKII 2 Gandrungmangu Cilacap. It is hoped that health workers will contribute more to health promotion in schools so that they can reduce HIV/AIDS cases in Indonesia.

Abstract

A critical issue during adolescence is reproductive health, particularly teenage pregnancy. One of the factors contributing to teenage pregnancy is the low level of knowledge among adolescents about sexuality and reproductive health, which can lead to negative behaviors. Adolescents' knowledge and attitudes are crucial in efforts to prevent teenage pregnancy. This study aims to determine the relationship between adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes in preventing teenage pregnancy. This research consists of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The study was conducted at MA Al-Ihsan, Pondok Gede, over an effective period of three weeks in August 2024. The research method used was quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The data used in this study were primary data, collected from 99 students (both male and female) at MA Al-Ihsan, using total sampling. The data analysis technique applied was the Chi-Square test. The results of the study indicate that knowledge plays a significant role in shaping adolescents' attitudes toward preventing pregnancy. These findings highlight the importance of early reproductive health education. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and adolescents’ attitudes in the effort to prevent teenage pregnancy.

Abstract

Parents need effective media to enhance their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in supporting early childhood growth and development. One such tool is the "Rayqal" application, which is designed to help mothers stimulate optimal development in toddlers. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the "Rayqal" application on improving maternal knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to toddler development. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was used. The population consisted of 80 mothers with children aged 0–59 months, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. Results showed significant differences in knowledge (ρ=0.000), attitudes (ρ=0.000), and behaviors (ρ=0.000) after the use of the "Rayqal" application. Specifically, in the intervention group, behavior scores increased from a pretest mean of 0.65 to a posttest mean of 1.18. These findings indicate that "Rayqal" significantly improved maternal abilities to support child development. In conclusion, the "Rayqal" application positively influences mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in stimulating toddler growth. It is recommended that the use of "Rayqal" be expanded to support SDIDTK (Early Detection and Intervention for Child Growth and Development) programs at Gunungsitoli District Health Center to help prevent developmental delays in children.

Abstract

Stunting remains a public health problem in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. Breastfeeding practices and infectious diseases play an important role in child growth. This study aims to analyse the relationship between breastfeeding practices and infectious disease history with stunting in children aged 12–59 months in Pesawaran District. This study used a case-control design with 210 respondents (105 stunted, 105 not stunted) selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews and anthropometric measurements according to WHO standards. Analysis was performed using chi-square tests and multiple logistic regression. There was a significant relationship between breastfeeding practices and history of infectious diseases with the incidence of stunting (p0.05). Children who did not receive exclusive breastfeeding had a two times higher risk of stunting (AOR=2.10; 95% CI: 1.13–3.88). Children without a history of acute respiratory infections had a lower risk of stunting (AOR=0.48; 95% CI: 0.26–0.88). Exclusive breastfeeding and prevention of infectious diseases are important factors in preventing stunting. Efforts to educate on breastfeeding, improve clean and healthy living behaviours, and prevent infections need to be strengthened at the family and community levels.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are at high risk of experiencing vaginal discharge. Efforts that can be made to overcome the problem of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls are through vaginal hygiene education and also the provision of red betel leaf decoction. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of vaginal hygiene education and red betel leaf decoction on the management of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls at the Harapan Bunda Sejahtera Clinic, Bekasi Regency in 2024. The method used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest. The population of adolescent girls with vaginal discharge, a sample of 45 people, purposive sampling technique, statistical test paired t test. The study showed that the incidence of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls before being given vaginal hygiene education and red betel leaf decoction was found that all 45 people (100%) experienced vaginal discharge, and after being given vaginal hygiene education and red betel leaf decoction, the majority did not experience vaginal discharge, 42 people (93.3%). There was effectiveness of vaginal hygiene education and red betel leaf decoction on the management of vaginal discharge with a p-value of 0.001. Red betel leaf decoction can treat vaginal discharge (fluor albus) because it contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and alkaloids, which act as antiseptics and anti-inflammatories, suppressing bacterial and fungal growth and relieving itching, irritation, and discomfort. Vaginal hygiene education and red betel leaf decoction are effective treatments for vaginal discharge in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major global health challenge, with a worldwide prevalence of 21.9% among children under five. The Southeast Asian region contributes more than one-quarter of all stunting cases globally. This condition affects not only the growth and development of children but also increases morbidity and mortality rates, which in turn influence national productivity and economic outcomes in the future. Maternal risk factors play a critical role, contributing more than 50% to a child’s growth. This study aims to identify maternal risk factors associated with stunting in Southeast Asia. Data were retrieved from PubMed, Springer, and ProQuest using the keywords “children,” “stunting,” “maternal risk factors,” and “Southeast Asia.” Of the 768 articles identified, only 10 met the inclusion criteria. Most studies were conducted in Indonesia, followed by the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Maternal factors associated with stunting include infections during pregnancy, nutritional status, maternal height, educational level, hygiene practices, supplement intake during pregnancy, maternal age, employment status, MUAC, dietary diversity during pregnancy, and maternal stress.
