Abstract

Introduction: Fluor albus is one of the problems that has long been a problem for women. Leucorrhea or Flour Albus is a symptom that most women very often experience. This disorder is the second most common problem after menstrual disorders. Fermentation of milk into milk curd is carried out with the help of lactic acid bacteria, namely Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus, causing microflora in the intestine. Objective: To identify the relationship between consumption of soy milk containing synbiotics and a decrease in the incidence of pathological fluor albus in adolescent girls. Materials and Methods: The population in this study was all female adolescent  with fluor albus, totaling 218 students. Inclusion Criteria: female Adolescent  aged 14-18 years. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. Results: The results of the analysis showed that there were significant changes in the characteristics of fluor albus in the control group and the intervention group (p = 0.000 <0.05). The mean value ± standard deviation of hemoglobin in the control group (9.86 ± 1.09) and the intervention group (10.80 ± 1.47) also showed a significant difference (p = 0.000 <0.05). The average characteristics of fluor albus in the intervention group were greater than the average characteristics of fluor albus in the control group. This means that the provision of milk curd in the intervention group was able to reduce pathological fluor albus. So, the provision of milk curd has been proven to have an effect on the characteristics of the respondents' fluor albus. Conclusion: This study shows that in the pure population there is a significant difference in the practice of preventing pathological fluor albus in women in the intervention group and the control group after the implementation of the provision of milk curd.

Abstract

Background: Balanced nutrition education is an essential effort in preventing obesity, especially in adolescents who are vulnerable to nutritional problems due to unhealthy diets and a lack of knowledge. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Android-based e-pocket books in improving the understanding of balanced nutrition among adolescents in Yogyakarta. Methods: This study employed an experimental design with control groups, utilizing pre-tests and post-tests. Conducted from February to March 2023 in a high school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, the research established a minimum sample size of 27 students per group through the Lemeshow formula and multistage sampling. Inclusion criteria required students to have Android phones, to consent to participate, to attend the study, and to complete data collection. The treatment group received education via e-pocket-book media, while the control group used e-leaflets. Knowledge was measured at three points: before the intervention, immediately after (post-test 1), and nine days later (post-test 2). Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests with SPSS software. Results: The knowledge score of the treatment group increased from 76.3 (pre-test) to 93.8 (post-test 1) and 91.3 (post-test 2). The control group increased from 73.8 (pre-test) to 82.5 (post-test 1) and 81.3 (post-test 2). The increase in knowledge was more significant in the treatment group, showing that e-pocket-books were more effective than e-leaflets. Conclusion: Android-based e-pocket-books improve adolescents' knowledge of balanced nutrition more than e-leaflets. Digital technology in nutrition education has great potential to be applied in schools. Further research is needed to evaluate the long-term impact on nutritional behavior.

Abstract

Background: The growing prevalence of chronic diseases has increased interest in natural functional foods over synthetic alternative. Pomegranate peel pectin, a natural gelling agent with dietary fiber, bioactive substances that helps with better digestion, glycemic control and antioxidant defense. As a healthy substitute for commercial pectin, the current study aimed to extract pectin from pomegranate peel and assess its stability and functionality in jelly preparation. Methods: Pectin was extracted from pomegranate peel powder using citric acid. Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy was used to investigate structural characteristics. Galacturonic acid, amidation, ash content, degree of methyl esterification, and water holding capacity of the extracted pectin were all measured. Pomegranate juice’s proximate composition was ascertained. Both commercial and extracted pectin were used to make the jellies, sweetened with sugar or honey and tested for proximate composition, fiber content, antioxidant activity, sensory quality, and microbiological safety while being stored. Results: The extracted pectin yield was 8.2%, with a high methoxyl content, 1.15% ash, and 235.25% water-holding capacity. Pomegranate juice contained 85.3% moisture, 10.5%, total sugars, 0.15g citric acid, 0.9g ascorbic acid, and 0.03g ash. Jellies made with extracted pectin showed similar sensory and proximate property to those made with commercial pectin. Fiber content increased in jellies with extracted pectin, particularly with honey. Microbial investigation found sugar-added jelly safe for two months and honey-added for three months when refrigerated. Conclusion: This study shows pomegranate peel pectin, a health promoting organic substitute for commercial pectin, can be effectively used in jelly formulation.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension, often referred to as a “silent killer,” is a major health problem because it frequently presents without symptoms. Poor adherence to antihypertensive treatment can lead to uncontrolled blood pressure, resulting in complications and damage to vital organs. This study aimed to identify factors associated with treatment compliance among hypertension patients in Pesisir Barat Regency in 2025. Methods: This quantitative research employed a cross-sectional design with data collected through questionnaires. The study involved hypertension patients aged 45–70 years and was conducted from February 20 to March 22, 2025. Data included demographic characteristics and factors related to treatment compliance. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the chi-square test, while multivariate analysis was performed using multiple logistic regression. Results: The duration of hypertension was not significantly associated with treatment compliance (p = 0.080). In contrast, significant associations were found with knowledge about hypertension (p = 0.000), motivation to seek treatment (p = 0.000), family support (p = 0.002), role of health workers (p = 0.000), accessibility of health services (p = 0.001), family history of hypertension (p = 0.008), and treatment history (p = 0.005). Conclusion: Several factors were identified as significantly influencing treatment compliance, with the role of health workers emerging as the most dominant factor. Strengthening the role of health workers, alongside family-based interventions and improved access to health services, is recommended to enhance treatment compliance among hypertension patients.

Abstract

The participation of husbands in the Family Planning (FP) program is very low even though their role is very important in realizing a prosperous family. The low participation of husbands as FP acceptors is influenced by the limited choice of contraceptives for men and the lack of awareness of the importance of a shared role in reproductive health. The purpose of this study was to identify various factors that influence the participation of husbands as acceptors of the Family Planning (FP) program. This study used the method Systematic Literature Review as its main strategy by searching articles through Google Scholar and ScienceDirect. Based on the results of the search and analysis, seven relevant articles were found and worthy of being used as review material in this research literature review. The review of seven articles showed that husbands’ participation as family planning acceptors was most consistently influenced by knowledge, wife’s support, health workers’ roles, attitudes, and family income. However, other factors such as education, employment, and sources of information show varying results.

Abstract

Background: The Chronic Disease Management Program is an integrated proactive health service involving patients, health facilities, and BPJS Kesehatan to improve care for individuals with chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to analyze factors influencing the utilization of Prolanis among T2DM patients in West Pesisir Regency. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design with 149 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected between February and March 2025 and analyzed using Chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression. Results: Family support (p = 0.000), illness perception (p = 0.000), perceived needs (p = 0.014), cross-sector support (p = 0.017), and health facility availability (p = 0.004) were significantly associated with Prolanis utilization. Among these, family support was the most dominant factor (OR = 10.26), indicating that patients with low family support were over 10 times more likely to show low program utilization compared to those with strong family support. Conclusion: Family support is the key determinant of Prolanis utilization among T2DM patients. Strengthening family involvement may enhance participation in chronic disease management programs.
