Abstract

The results of the Indonesian Nutritional Status Study in 2021 show that the prevalence of stunted in children is quite high it is 24.4%. Therefore, various strategies are needed to achieve the target, one of which is the fulfillment of nutrition for pregnant women as a preventive aspect of stunted. Kelor is one of the vegetables with high nutrients contents and can protect against oxidative stress also have potential as a ligand for stunting prevention through its antioxidant activity. Adding kelor leaves flour to the crackers made with catfish flour can increase protein and minerals but has a lack of an unpleasant aroma and the product is only limited to crackers. This research purposed to develop the product from kelor that is pudding from kelor and ginger as a food source of dietary fiber and minerals for pregnant women. The best formula chosen from organoleptic was is pudding with the addition 1.4% ginger and 100 g kelor leaves flour. The pudding contain 4.4% dietary fiber, 44.42 mg/100g iron, and 6.94 mg/100g zinc respectively. Selected pudding contain more than 6 g/100 g dietary fiber and more than 30% of iron and zinc standart for pregnant women group based on nutrition label reference (ALG, for Indonesian), so it can be claimed as a high dietary fiber, iron and zinc food.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of preterm delivery, low birth weight, and bleeding. Therefore, the National program for 90 iron tables during pregnancy has been employed. Hemoglobin (Hb) monitoring has not been routinely conducted, hence, the Hb examination is performed by using a simple finger prick test. Our study aimed to analyse whether pregnant women have an increased hemoglobin value after 30 extra tablets and to compare prick test and venous puncture examination among pregnant women after 30 extra tablet. This was analytic research with quasi-experimental study design, with a pre- and post-test approach, conducted in August to September 2022. After consent, pregnant women (n78) who had taken their iron supplementation for at least 3 months were checked for Hb level using finger prick test of whom 18 were still anemic after 3 months iron therapy. Hb level was further examined with venous blood to measure complete blood count measurement and to compare with the result of finger prick test result. Interestingly, CBC result showed that only 2 out of 17 pregnant women were anemic By CBC test. Erythrocyte Shine & Lal Index (MCV*MCV*MCH/100) had suggested that all pregnant women had iron deficiency anemia (cut off value SLI >1530), as confirmed with normal value of HbA2 (2-3.5%). Measurement of Hb in pregnant women in low resource areas is very important. The finger prick test in this study showed a high frequency of anemia, albeit the venous complete blood count showed otherwise. The standardized method for CBC in primary health care is recommended to avoid iron over supplementation. Since Indonesia is located in thalassemia belt., further exploration for those who are still anemic after complete iron tablet in pregnant women is imperative.

Abstract

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a measure of an individual’s risk of developing diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Due to the COVID-19 lockdowns in Malaysia, the dietary intake among Malaysians might have changed, influencing the cardiometabolic risk. The impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on MetS and dietary intake is unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the MetS and dietary intake, as well as their association with MetS using an online survey. Methodology: This web-based cross-sectional study was conducted using self-administered questionnaires. The habitual dietary intake was determined using a thirty-seven-item Singapore Short Diet Screener. The MetS was investigated using the Asian Modified Finnish Diabetes Risk Score Questionnaire. A total of 209 respondents (43 males, 166 females) was included in the study. About 41.1% (n=86) of them aged between 30 to 60 years old, 79.4% (n=166) were female, 67.0% (n=140) were single, 57.4% (n=120) were not working, 95.2% (n=199) had tertiary education and 47.4% (n=99) were from Selangor. The MetS in the population was 39.6% (n=75). The MetS was significantly associated with wholemeal noodles (p=0.033), red meat (p=0.020), other vegetables (p=0.012) and amount of sugars added in coffee (p=0.049). The COVID-19 lockdowns had influenced the dietary intake and MetS of Malaysian adults. The relevant authorities should take this seriously since it attributes to the rising of non-communicable disease.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is one of the causes of death. One of the reasons for that is people’s behavior that does not prevent Tuberculosis transmission. A source of TB transmission in children is adult TB with positive Acid Fast Bacilli test. The behavior of preventing pulmonary TB transmission to children is influenced by predisposing, enabling and reinforcement factors. To prevent the occurrence of transmission is to cut the transmission of these factors off. The purpose was to determine the factors with the behavior of pulmonary TB transmission to children. This study uses an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The population is pulmonary TB patients who are married and live with their children, total population. There are 38 respondents which their data are analyzed by unvaried, bivariable and multivariable. In order to complete the data we do a qualitative method by doing deep interviews with 5 health officers, they are head of the community health center, officer of health promotion, surveillance, sanitarian and pulmonary TB program. Factors related to the behavior of preventing the transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis to children are socioeconomic and room ventilation. Education, access to health services, and residential density are factors that are not related to the behavior of preventing the transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis to children. The results of statistical tests show that socioeconomic factor is the most determining factor for the behavior of preventing pulmonary tuberculosis transmission to children. The research implies that seminars, workshops and training for health officers to improve their capacities are needed to help patients dan their families understand the importance of preventing the transmission of tuberculosis to their children

Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately. The results of the study were ob-tained Spearman's rho test results were obtained by 0.298 with p-value = 0.005 < 0.05 significant, meaning that there was a relationship between knowledge and flood disaster preparedness in Suku Tiga Village of Nasal District, Kaur Regency. Because the rho value is located in the interval 0.20 – 0.40 then the category of medium relationship. Spearman's rho test re-sults were obtained by 0.129 with p-value = 0.230> 0.05 was insignificant, meaning that there was no significant relationship between respondents' attitudes and flood preparedness in Suku Tiga Village of Nasal District, Kaur Regency. There is a relationship between knowledge and flood disaster preparedness in Suku Tiga Village of Nasal District, Kaur Regen-cy with the category of medium relationship. There is no relationship be-tween attitude and flood disaster preparedness in Suku Tiga Village of Nasal District, Kaur Regency. It is hoped that nurses will be able to pro-vide training to the community on disaster response so that they can in-crease knowledge and shape community attitudes so that they can improve preparedness in facing flood disasters.

Abstract

Allamanda flowers were known as ornamental plants, but also have benefits as traditional medicine. Phytochemical screening is an important first step in identifying potential secondary metabolites of a plant. This study were to determine of characteristics and phytochemical screening of allamanda flowers ethanolic extract. Allamanda flowers used were natural flowers that have been air-dried for 7 days. The extract from dry sample of allamanda flowers was obtained by maceration method using 96% ethanol as solvent. The extracts were evaluated their characteristics including, yield, ash content, water content and phytochemical screening by color reaction method with specific reagent. The results were obtained that extract characteristics, namely the yield of 51.77%; water content of 1.14%; and ash content of 4.71%. The results were obtained from the phytochemical test that 96% ethanol extract of allamanda flowers contains flavonoid and saponin. It can be concluded that ethanol extract of allamanda flowers with ash content of 4.71% and water content of 1.14% contains flavonoids and tannins.
