Abstract

Studies reported different non-pharmacological interventions to treat anxiety in colorectal cancer patients, but still their effectiveness is unknown. We aim to evaluate the non-pharmacological interventions used to treat anxiety in colorectal cancer. We performed a systematic review and searched PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and Scopus. We selected RCTs published between 2011 and 2021 in the English language. We assessed the quality of articles using JBI Critical appraisal tools for RCTs. Most studies – 8 out of 12 RCTs – showed a significant reduction in anxiety scores after using non-pharmacological interventions. The most popular interventions were education, relaxation, psychological intervention, naturopathy, yoga, dietary, consultation, physical activity, and entertainment activities. The non-pharmacological interventions used in treating anxiety significantly improve anxiety scores in CRC patients after treatment in almost included studies by applying mixed methods of education, relaxation, psychological intervention, naturopathy, yoga, dietary, consultation, physical activity, and entertainment activities.

Abstract

Tropical diseases are infectious diseases that occur in tropical regions. The causes of tropical diseases are various types of infections, ranging from viral, bacterial, and fungal to parasitic infections. The pharmacological treatment implemented. Further, non-pharmacological treatment is widely used, but it has side effects, and the level of danger and risk is much lower than synthetic chemical drugs. Some potential plants in Indonesia have been used for treatment, such as Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa). This plant helps treat microbial infections and menstrual pain, lower blood sugar, prevent the side effects of chemotherapy drugs, and lower blood pressure. The study aims to screen for the phytochemical content of secondary metabolites from the leaves of Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa). The method was the maceration in the BPOM laboratory and the Diploma Program of Pharmacy of The University of Bengkulu. The Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) contains chemicals known as secondary metabolites. The results of the secondary metabolite screening of the leaves Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) showed the presence of alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, saponins, and tannins. Antibacterials ingredients include flavonoids and saponins, antifungal and antibacterial, with three mechanisms: inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis, inhibiting cytoplasmic membrane function, and inhibiting energy metabolism. The flavonoid compound of the flavone class has the potential as an antibacterial with potent inhibition against Escherichia coli (gram-negative bacteria) and Bacillus subtilis (gram-positive bacteria) because it has an OH group bound to CH. The study concluded that the leaves of Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) located in the coastal area of Bengkulu city are phenol, alkaloid, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids, and tannins

Abstract

Conduct problems are prevalent in middle adolescents. There are many available instruments that can be used to measure conduct problems. However, limited information is available regarding which instruments are more suitable for this population in the community. This study aimed to investigate frequently used instruments to evaluate conduct problems in regard to their purposes and psychometric properties. This systematic review design study was performed from August 2021 to March 2022 to search for published articles from five databases, such as ProQuest, PubMed, PsycINFO, Science Direct, and Scopus. The PRISMA guidelines were applied to report the selection process of articles. The quality of the selected articles was evaluated by critical appraisal tools of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). Of 7254 records, 23 studies met the inclusion criteria and were reviewed for psychometric properties. Findings indicated that there were nine instruments used in 23 studies for conduct problems among middle adolescents in the community, with the following purposes such as screening, assessment, clinical diagnosis, and outcome evaluation. The coefficient of Cronbach’s alpha of the instruments varies in the range of .53 to .95. Meanwhile, 65% of the studies were reported to use the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire – Conduct Problems (SDQ-CP), especially for screening, assessment, and outcome evaluation. It is suggested for community nurses use SDQ-CP to examine and evaluate conduct problems for middle adolescents who visit public health service facilities in the community.

Abstract

Activities in healthcare facilities have a negative impact in the form of pollution due to waste disposal without proper processing. One of the most dangerous is lipid or fat waste in wastewater. Lipids are also a threat to the aquatic environment, such as those found in ditches and rivers. Oil/fat will cause pollution in the river and in the processing plant itself thereby reducing the efficiency of wastewater treatment. Oil and grease removal usually uses physical methods, namely by trapping oil/fat with a grease trap. The second uses a flotation process utilizing the force of gravity. It is hoped that the ash of empty palm fruit bunches can be used to reduce the oil/fat content in hospital wastewater as another alternative to set aside oil and grease. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between quantitative variables to determine the model to be used. The distribution of the dots on a scatter plot chart can show the relationship between variables. The relationship studied is in the form of patterns that are observed visually and to obtain correlation determinants and equations (models) of the relationship between variables through scatter plot graphics. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the addition of empty palm fruit bunch ash to the reduction of oil and fat. Adding 0.1 mg.l-1 of empty palm fruit bunch ash resulted in an average decrease in oil and fat content of 60.34%; The addition of 0.2 mg.l-1 resulted in a decrease of 75.38% and the addition of 0.5 mg.l-1 after a decrease of 90.42%. To reduce the oil and fat content to 0 (zero) (perfect emulsion) to 3.25 mg.l-1 sample from the simple regression equation (y = -4.8969x + 2.3919) is 0.47 g/liter of waste water or 0 .47 kg/m3 of wastewater.

Abstract

Gerga Orange (Citrus nobilis L. Var. RGL) are the main commodity in Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province. These oranges have been processed by the community into syrup preparations and from this activity produce waste in the form of fruit peels. Based on previous research, the peel of this citrus fruit is known to have antioxidant and antibacterial activity, so it can be used as a raw material in the manufacture of lotion preparations. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the three lotion formulations from the ethanolic extract of the gerga orange peel (Citrus nobilis L. Var. RGL) with various concentrations of 8% (F1), 10% (F2), 12% (F3). The method used is the experimental method. The results showed that the three formulations of lotion met the standard of good lotion. In the organoleptic test, there were differences in the color of the preparation, where the color became more concentrated as the concentration of the extract increased. In the homogeneity test, the three formulas showed good homogeneity until the 14th day of testing. The pH of the three formulas was also in accordance with the SNI 16-4399-1996 standard, namely 4.5-8. The three formulas also did not cause allergic reactions to 10 respondents. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that all formulas of the ethanol extract of the gerga orange peel (Citrus nobilis L. Var. RGL) with varying concentrations can be formulated as lotion preparations that are physically and organoleptically stable, as well as the standard of SNI 16-4399-1996 in terms of pH of the preparation and irritation test. Of the three formulas, formula 1 has an advantage over the other formulas because it has a less intense color, which makes it superior in appearance.

Abstract

Low Birth Weight (LBW) is a baby weighing less than 2500 grams regardless of gestational age. The causative factors for the incidence of LBW include small for gestational age (SGA), appropriate gestational age (AGA), and both. This study aimed to determine the determinants of LBW IN SGA and AGA incidence. This observational study uses secondary data with a case-control design. The population in this study were all newborns recorded in the register of the Perinatology Room at RSUD Dr. M. Yunus Bengkulu in 2020-2021, with a total population of 577. The case sample was 223 (SGA = 63 and AGA = 160), taken by total sampling and the control group with a comparison of 1:1 for SGA and AGA. The analysis used univariate, bivariate using chi-square, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression. The results showed that preeclampsia, gemelli, and PROM were significantly related to the incidence of LBW in SGA with p-value <0.05. Maternal age, preeclampsia, and PROM were significantly associated with the incidence of LBW in AGA with p <0.05. The most influential factor in the incidence of LBW in SGA was gemelli (OR=10,759), and the most effective on the incidence of LBW in AGA was preeclampsia (OR=2,476). It is hoped that the hospital can improve its capabilities, skills, and infrastructure to handle maternal and neonatal emergencies through training and seminar.
