Abstract

This study aims to design and build an Internet of Things (IoT)-based river water level monitoring system using NodeMCU ESP8266 and HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor integrated with a website in Semarum Village, Durenan District, Trenggalek Regency. The system was developed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method with the Laravel framework and MySQL database. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, literature studies, experiments, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through functional testing of the system using Black Box Testing, sensor accuracy analysis using Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), and analysis of WhatsApp notification response time. The results showed that the system was able to read the water level automatically every minute, display data in real-time via the website, and send WhatsApp notifications automatically when alert or danger status. The results of Black Box Testing showed that all system features functioned well. Accuracy testing produced a MAPE value of 1.027% with an average accuracy rate of 98.97%, while WhatsApp notification testing showed a 100% success rate with an average delay of around 50 seconds. This system is equipped with three water condition indicators (SAFE, ALERT, and DANGER) as well as multi-user management features which are an added value compared to previous research.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the combined application of mycorrhizal biofertilizer and NPK fertilizer on the growth of lowland rice and to identify the most effective fertilizer dosage for improving crop productivity and supporting food self-sufficiency. The experiment was arranged in a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: mycorrhizal biofertilizer dosage (M) and NPK fertilizer dosage (N). Growth parameters observed included plant height, number of tillers, and number of leaves. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a 5% significance level, followed by a post hoc test to determine differences among treatments. The results showed that the interaction between mycorrhizal biofertilizer and NPK fertilizer significantly increased the number of tillers and leaves, while the single factor of NPK fertilizer significantly increased plant height. The best treatment was P2M1 (510 g NPK plot⁻¹ and 60 g mycorrhiza plot⁻¹), which produced the highest number of tillers and leaves. Meanwhile, the highest plant height was obtained under treatment P2 (510 g NPK plot⁻¹). Therefore, the combined application of mycorrhizal biofertilizer and NPK fertilizer was effective in enhancing the growth of lowland rice.

Abstract

The increasing use of skincare products among men has become a growing phenomenon in modern society. However, this trend is still often accompanied by negative stigma rooted in traditional masculine norms that associate self-care practices with femininity. This study aims to analyze the social and cultural factors that shape stigma toward men who use skincare products within the construction of modern masculinity. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by reviewing national and international journal articles published between 2020–2025. Data were collected through Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Garuda using keywords related to male skincare, masculinity, stigma, and self-care. The findings reveal four main factors influencing stigma toward male skincare users: patriarchal culture and traditional masculinity, pressure from family and peer groups, the influence of social media, and shifting perceptions of skincare as a form of self-care. The study concludes that masculinity is dynamic and continuously negotiated amidst social and cultural changes. Skincare is increasingly viewed not as a symbol of femininity, but as part of health awareness and modern male identity

Abstract

The problem of this research is the extent to which the existing regulatory framework is able to support the acceleration of the digitalization of public administration in Indonesia and the structural obstacles that hinder its implementation. This research aims to describe the legal environment of digitization of public administration, assess the consistency of existing regulations, identify institutional challenges and implementation capacity, and provide contextual policy recommendations. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through systematic literature studies of regulatory documents, official policies, evaluation reports, and academic literature. The analysis was carried out using the content analysis method and comparative policy analysis with the framework of the Marchetti (2021) regulatory readiness model modified for the Indonesian context, and validity was maintained through triangulation of data sources from official regulations, academic reports, and assessments of international institutions. The article concludes with policy recommendations encompassing enhancing cross-ministerial coordination, accelerating digital literacy amnesia, and improving cross-ministerial cooperation. The results show that, although SPBE regulations provide an adequate foundation, organizational fragmentation, lack of human resource capabilities, and digital infrastructure disparities continue to be significant obstacles to equitable implementation. The article ends with policy suggestions that include better cross-ministerial coordination, more civil servants' digital literacy, and more infrastructure networks to remote and poor areas

Abstract

This study aims to explore the promotional strategies implemented by UD. Sumber Rejeki and identify opportunities for shifting from word of mouth to digital media, particularly TikTok and WhatsApp, to increase consumer purchasing interest. The study employed a qualitative approach with an exploratory design. Subjects were selected through purposive sampling, including business owners, employees involved in the production and marketing processes, and consumers who had purchased UD. Sumber Rejeki products. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation of promotional and production activities, and supporting documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested using triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results showed that the promotional strategy is still dominated by word of mouth, which is effective in building consumer trust but less than optimal in expanding market reach. The main obstacles in developing digital promotions include limited digital literacy, human resources, and the lack of systematic promotional planning. However, manual production processes have the potential to create engaging visual content, and WhatsApp has the potential to be developed as a marketing medium. This study concludes that the integration of word of mouth and digital marketing can be an effective strategy to increase business competitiveness.

Abstract

Online course-based learning generally still applies uniform materials and assessments to all students without considering differences in individual abilities. This condition results in a less personalized learning process and has the potential to reduce learning effectiveness. This study aims to develop a web-based online course system that implements an Adaptive Learning Path (ALP) to adjust the material and the difficulty level of questions based on student abilities. The study used a Research and Development (R&D) method with software development based on the Scrum framework, which includes the product backlog, sprint planning, sprint execution, and sprint review stages. The system implements the Item Response Theory (IRT) Rasch Model algorithm with the Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) method to estimate student abilities and determine questions adaptively. The results of the study produced an online course platform equipped with adaptive learning path features, IRT-based automatic quizzes, a leaderboard, and a material management administration panel. Black box testing results showed that all system functions ran well and were valid, while beta testing on 26 users obtained a feasibility level of 86.8%, which is categorized as very feasible. These findings indicate that the developed system is able to support more personalized, adaptive, and effective learning according to the abilities of each student.

Abstract

This article analyzes the process of rational choice formation and capital mobilization among women working as culinary vendors in the Piwang Beach area, Natuna Regency, one of Indonesia's outermost islands. The study employed a qualitative approach with an interpretive paradigm. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation with six informants purposively selected based on their involvement in informal culinary businesses. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, then interpreted using Coleman's Rational Choice theory and Bourdieu's concepts of economic, social, and cultural capital. The results present descriptive findings on informant profiles, values, preferences, and forms of capital found in the field. The Discussion section interprets these findings through a more in-depth theoretical framework. The findings indicate that rational choice is formed through the construction of business accessibility values and layered preferences (economic, social, and cultural). The three forms of capital—economic, social, and cultural—are mobilized synergistically with varying intensities across informants. This article proposes an analytical model of 'structured agency' to explain the paradox between structural coercion and the active choices of women informal workers in the archipelago.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of English language skills to the effectiveness of emergency communications on board ships and to identify the most crucial language aspects in crisis situations. The study employed a library research method by reviewing and synthesizing various relevant sources, including international and national journal articles on maritime affairs and language education, Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP) from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), maritime accident investigation reports from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), and emergency communication training and procedure documents published during the 2015–2025 period. Sources were selected based on their relevance to maritime communications, shipping safety, and the use of English in emergency situations. Data were analyzed qualitatively using a descriptive-comparative approach through the process of identifying themes, grouping findings, and synthesizing across sources. The results showed that English language skills, particularly listening skills and mastery of standard Maritime English phrases (SMCP), have a very important contribution to the speed, accuracy, and effectiveness of emergency responses. Various incident reports indicate that limited English proficiency can lead to miscommunication, misinterpretation of commands, and delays in emergency response. Therefore, emergency scenario-based English training needs to be strengthened to support shipping safety and minimize the risk of accidents at sea.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the branding design of Kendal Regency as an industrial city and its relationship with investor perceptions and the region's investment attractiveness. The approach used is qualitative descriptive-analytical with data collection techniques through in depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies of 15 informants consisting of local government, industrial area managers, and investors. The results of the study indicate that Kendal's identity as an industrial area has been factually formed through the existence of industrial areas, infrastructure support, and strategic locations, but has not been integrated into a consistent branding narrative. This study produces a regional branding model consisting of three main components, namely (1) industrial area identity as a foundation that reflects the economic potential and character of the region, (2) strategic communication through promotional media, digital platforms, and business networks, and (3) institutional collaboration between local government and industrial area managers. The integration of these three components shapes investor perceptions that influence investment decisions. Theoretically, this study enriches the study of place branding by integrating the perspective of development communication in the context of district-level industrial areas. Practically, the results of the study provide recommendations for local governments to design integrated, consistent, and value-based branding strategies to increase investment attractiveness in a sustainable manner.
