Abstract

This study examines how social media influences interpersonal communication among Generation Z by focusing on three fundamental dimensions: digital relational patterns, trust formation, and self-disclosure mechanisms. Utilising a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight informants aged 18–27 who actively utilise social media for interpersonal communication. The findings reveal that digital relationships develop rapidly through intense communication rhythms, yet remain fluctuating and highly contingent upon the continuity of messaging. Trust in digital interactions is established through the consistency between an individual’s online persona and offline behaviour, positioning authenticity as a crucial indicator of interpersonal credibility. Conversely, self-disclosure occurs selectively through audience-control features such as close friends, private messages, or secondary accounts, enabling users to express themselves in a sense of emotional security. The study concludes that social media functions not only as a communication tool but also as a social space that influences the dynamics of closeness, trust, and self-expression among Generation Z. These findings integrate Social Information Processing Theory, Social Penetration Theory, Impression Management, Warranting Theory, and the Online Disinhibition Effect to provide a more comprehensive understanding of digital interpersonal relationships among young generations.

Abstract

This study examines parental communication patterns in the development of socio-emotional skills among early childhood Generation Alpha in the digital era. Through a qualitative, phenomenological-critical approach involving 12 parents in Meulaboh, this research reveals three dominant communication patterns. The findings indicate: an integrative digital mediation combining active guidance with Islamic values; communication dissonance between ideal values and actual parental practices in digital contexts; and strategic technology appropriation for emotional-spiritual socialisation. The empirical findings were dialogically analysed with Qur'anic principles, particularly Q.S. Luqman regarding communication wisdom, Q.S. Al-Isra' concerning speech ethics, and Q.S. Al-Baqarah on moderation principles. This study contributes to the development of a value-based digital parenting model relevant to Indonesian Muslim families. Practical implications include the development of Islamic digital literacy programs that can assist parents in balancing technology use with children's holistic character development.

Abstract

This study examines how sacrificial animals (qurban) are managed from the viewpoints of humanitarian principles and Islamic teachings through a systematic review of existing literature. It draws on scholarly articles and field reports published from 2021 to 2025. In Islamic tradition, qurban is a key ritual that involves both spiritual devotion and social and ethical responsibility toward all living creatures. The concept of Ihsan—embodying excellence, compassion, and moral responsibility, as taught by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—is central to this framework. In the context of qurban, Ihsan requires Muslims to handle animals humanely, carefully, and with minimal pain, aligning with modern animal welfare standards. Nonetheless, the literature review reveals a gap between ideal teachings and actual practice. Common issues include inadequate hygiene, rough or inappropriate handling, and limited awareness of the spiritual and ethical importance of qurban. These results underscore the necessity for stronger ethical internalization, better technical skills, and comprehensive educational strategies to improve both the humanitarian and spiritual aspects of qurban practices.

Abstract

In any organization, including schools, conflicts between school principals and administrators are inevitable. However, effective conflict management is crucial for fostering positive communication, collaboration, and trust among leaders and administrators within the school environment. This study aims to analyze conflict management strategies employed by school principals to create a harmonious school environment. Using a qualitative research approach and a literature review, the study examines relevant prior studies. The research process involves data collection, source assessment, data analysis, and manuscript compilation. The study’s findings reveal the importance of implementing conflict management policies, procedures, and training programs. These include anti-conflict policies, open communication policies, student-parent involvement policies, conflict resolution procedures, conflict reporting procedures, and evaluation and follow-up procedures. Additionally, conflict management, effective communication, and counseling training are essential for building a harmonious school environment. The practical contribution of this research lies in enhancing the capacity of school principals in conflict management practices by providing valuable information on conflict management strategies. The theoretical contribution is the development of a more comprehensive theory of conflict management for school principals, thereby contributing to a harmonious school environment.

Abstract

Modern education faces the challenge of moral degradation, which demands character interventions beyond classical approaches. This study aims to examine the managerial mechanisms of the Islamic Personal Development Program at SMP IT Fitrah Hanniah, which serves as a holistic ecosystem for moral cultivation. Employing a qualitative case-study design, data were extracted from multi-actor interviews, small-group participatory observations, and evaluation documentation and subsequently analyzed using an interactive reduction scheme. The findings confirm that stable character formation is realized through three managerial reconfigurations. In the planning phase, the curriculum is centrally controlled by the foundation, which tactically restructures the class into small groups of up to ten 10 students. During the implementation phase, the program shifts away from cognitive transmission orientation to prioritize emotional bonding and exemplary imitation through varied educative methods. In the evaluation phase, the school exclusively uses observation-based qualitative assessments and daily track records, followed by educational disciplinary measures. The conclusion of this study asserts that internal governance reconfigurations are proven effective in instilling discipline in daily worship. However, the ultimate manifestation of social morality strictly requires the reinforcement of supervisory synergy from parents to sustain behavioral habits outside school hours. Consequently, these findings recommend a more binding model of family involvement within the governance of character education.

Abstract

This study examines the Islamic legal perspective on the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) program as a means of maintaining household harmony. Infertility constitutes a significant challenge for many married couples, often generating emotional distress, social stigma, marital conflict, and, in some cases, the dissolution of marriage. Using normative juridical research and a library-based methodology, this article systematically reviews primary Islamic legal sources—the Qur'an, Hadith, classical and contemporary fiqh texts—as well as the fatwas of major Indonesian and international Islamic jurisprudential bodies. The study finds that IVF is permissible (mubah) under Islamic law when the sperm and ovum belong exclusively to a lawfully married couple, and the embryo is implanted in the wife's own uterus. Conversely, IVF conducted using donor sperm, donor eggs, or a surrogate womb is categorically prohibited (haram) because it leads to the mixing of lineage (ikhtilat al-nasab), resembles adultery in its legal consequence, and violates the overarching objectives of Islamic law (Maqasid al-Shari'ah), particularly the protection of lineage (hifz al-nasl). The article further argues that permissible IVF contributes positively to household harmony by fulfilling the Islamic ideal of a complete sakinah, mawaddah wa rahmah family, while prohibited forms introduce irreversible legal, ethical, and social complications that undermine marital stability. This research adds to the scholarly discourse by integrating contemporary medical realities with classical fiqh analysis and the concept of Maslahah Mursalah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the premarital counseling program organized by the Office of Religious Affairs (Kantor Urusan Agama/KUA) of Bululawang District, Malang Regency, in enhancing prospective brides’ and grooms’ knowledge of the concepts of sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah in family life. The high divorce rate in Indonesia—reaching 480,618 cases in 2021, with 110 cases recorded in Bululawang District alone in 2022—constitutes the underlying urgency of this research. This study employs a descriptive, qualitative approach using field research methods. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants included the head of the KUA, marriage counselors, program facilitators, and ten pairs of prospective brides and grooms. The findings indicate that: (1) the premarital counseling program at the KUA of Bululawang has been implemented in accordance with the Regulation of the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance (Bimas Islam) Number 379 of 2018, encompassing six core modules delivered using andragogical methods; (2) supporting factors include the availability of instructional modules, the capacity of certified facilitators, and adequate facilities and infrastructure, while inhibiting factors comprise budget constraints, the absence of mandatory participation regulations, and suboptimal participant engagement; (3) overall, the premarital counseling program has proven effective in enhancing both the knowledge and psychological readiness of prospective couples, with the average readiness score reaching 74.65%. This study recommends strengthening regulations to mandate participation in premarital counseling programs and increasing budget allocations for the KUA.

Abstract

Domestic violence is a serious violation of human rights that requires an institutional response beyond just legal measures. The Population, Family Planning, and Women's Empowerment Agency (BKKBPP) of Malang City plays a strategic, legally mandated role in providing integrated support to victims of domestic violence through legal aid, psychological counseling, medical assistance, and mediation. This research evaluates how effective BKKBPP's advocacy is in protecting and empowering victims and assesses its consistency with Maqasid al-Shari'ah's normative goals. Using a normative-empirical juridical approach based on primary field data and Islamic family law literature, the study reveals that BKKBPP's advocacy functions across three interconnected areas: legal (both litigative and non-litigative), psychosocial (trauma counseling and rehabilitation), and social mediation. Results show that when these areas operate collaboratively and focus on victims, the agency's efforts significantly improve victims' safety, mental health, and social reintegration. Challenges include victims' reluctance to report, limited resources, scheduling conflicts, and the diversity of victim profiles. From the perspective of Maqasid al-Shari'ah, BKKBPP's advocacy supports core Islamic legal goals such as protecting life (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-'aql), progeny (hifz al-nasl), and dignity. This study adds to the literature by illustrating that institutional advocacy aligned with Maqasid al-Shari'ah is both Jurisprudentially sound and practically vital for fully protecting victims of domestic violence in a Muslim society.

Abstract

Scholars of hadith from the Salaf period generally preferred hadiths with a minimal number of narrators in the isnad, known as 'ālī hadiths. This preference was partly due to the reduction of potential distortion in transmission associated with fewer narrators. It is evident that the 'ālī isnad was regarded as significant by hadith scholars during the early period. However, the importance of the 'ālī isnad following the codification of hadith has not been sufficiently examined. This study aims to ascertain whether the 'ālī isnad retained any significance after the period of hadith codification, with particular attention to the ninth century. Focusing on the work of Ibn Hajar al-Ahādīth al-‘Ashrah al-‘Ushāriyyah, this research endeavors to demonstrate the high status attributed to the chain of narration within that text, as asserted by the author. By tracing contemporary reports (tābi’ and shāhid) related to the hadiths included by Ibn Hajar, it is possible to reconstruct the attitudes of scholars in the ninth century towards high chains (‘ālī). Consequently, this study aims to reveal the perception of high chains during that period, both theoretically and practically. Furthermore, the research indicates that the transmission of hadiths persisted even when not all were documented in written sources, in contrast to practices observed in earlier periods
