Abstract

Anemia in adolescents is a global health problem, especially in developing countries. Teenage girls are more susceptible to anemia because they experience menstruation every month, which causes them to lose significant amounts of blood. Anemia can affect student learning achievement. The outreach activity of the Youth Movement to Routinely Take Blood Supplement Tablets (TTD) to Prevent Anemia (Gema Gemia) to 35 female students of SMPS Mitra Jember was carried out using the health education method through interpersonal communication (KAP). The media used are flipcharts and educational videos. Data was collected through pre and post-test questionnaires, which were then analyzed using the paired sample t-test. The analysis results showed that there was an average difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (p=0.000), which means that there was an influence of providing health education on knowledge about anemia and TTD among young women at SMPS Mitra Jember. Furthermore, similar education needs to be carried out in other schools because many young women still do not know the importance of TTD in preventing anemia. Keywords: Anemia; blood supplement tablets; educational videos; flipcharts; interpersonal communication (KAP); junior high school; teenage girls

Abstract

The development of health promotion through the media must reflect the latest advances. One of the interesting innovations in health promotion is the use of visual video media in health promotion to improve health. The aim of this research is to show that the use of video media is more effective than brochures in increasing knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding nutrition and obesity prevention in a group of adolescents. The research method used was a two-group experimental design with a total of 750 high school students. Data collected includes nutritional knowledge, nutritional attitudes and eating habits. The data analysis technique uses an independent sample t-test. Data analysis shows that health promotion using video media is superior to pamphlet media because it significantly increases nutritional knowledge, attitudes and practices (p<0,000). The research findings revealed that the participants who received video intervention demonstrated greater improvement in their understanding, attitudes, and behaviors towards nutrition when compared to those who relied on booklets.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common non-infectious diseases throughout the world with a prevalence that continues to increase every year. Hypertension will cause various complications such as stroke, kidney failure, cardiac hypertrophy, myocardial infarction and heart failure. One of the possible ways to treat the complications of hypertension by providing education. This activity aims to increase public knowledge about hypertension. This activity was carried out through a method of health education using power point presentations and leaflets to 21 people in the Sepabatu village community. Optimizing knowledge through education was assessed by administering a questionnaire which was measured twice, namely a pre-test before education and a post-test after education was provided, combined with the provision of leaflets. Not only does knowledge measure, but people also check their blood pressure. The results of activities show an increase in knowledge before education (60.48) increasing to (70.95) after post-test. Health education is one of the tools that can be used to provide knowledge to the public regarding hypertension so that people can adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent hypertension or take actions that can be taken to treat hypertension.

Abstract

The socialization of tongue condition assessment in patients with reproductive disorders is a strategic effort to enhance holistic therapists’ understanding of non-invasive health detection methods. Limited practitioner knowledge about the correlation between tongue changes and reproductive health creates a gap between theory and practice. This program aimed to strengthen practitioners’ competence in identifying reproductive health indicators through tongue diagnosis. The implementation involved interactive lectures, discussions, practical demonstrations, and evaluations using pre-tests, post-tests, and satisfaction questionnaires. Fifteen holistic therapy practitioners from Solo Raya participated. Evaluation results showed a notable improvement in knowledge, with average scores increasing from 51.4 (pre-test) to 69.47 (post-test), reflecting a 36% improvement. Participant satisfaction was rated “good to excellent,” with an average score of 4.4 on a 5-point scale. These outcomes demonstrate that the training effectively enhanced practitioners’ understanding and diagnostic skills. Consequently, this activity contributes significantly to strengthening traditional medicine-based health services and provides a model for similar future initiatives aimed at integrating holistic approaches in reproductive health care.

Abstract

ABSTRACT DM is a non-communicable disease that disrupts the body's metabolic functions and contributes to various complications. People with DM are often unaware of the early symptoms of diabetes. Many cases of diabetes mellitus are also found to be caused by excessive weight gain or obesity. It is estimated that there will be 783 million cases of diabetes by 2045. To conduct training and mentoring for health cadres in measuring blood sugar and strengthening health promotion strategies among residents as an effort to control non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes mellitus, in Cilember Village. This community service activity was carried out through an initial survey, education about diabetes and obesity, blood sugar level checks, training in the use of glucometers, and the donation of glucometers, as well as an evaluation of the activity. The cadres were enthusiastic and confident in checking the blood sugar levels of the community in Cilember Village. The results of the examination showed that there were 20 residents at high risk of diabetes out of 35 residents who underwent screening. The role of the integrated health service post and the cadres themselves in reducing the incidence of non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes mellitus and obesity among the community, needs to be improved and optimised.
