Abstract

The purpose of the environmental-based skills training activity in processing inorganic waste for the PKK group of Kepuh Kemiri Village is to equip the community, especially the PKK group, with the ability to process inorganic waste into multi-purpose products with commercial value, namely brooches, picture frames, decorative flowers, tissue boxes, wall hangings, and multi-purpose containers. The inorganic waste processed is plastic, paper, cloth, cardboard, styrofoam, newspapers, and cans. The implementation methods used are the preparation stage, the activity implementation stage, and the activity evaluation stage. The work programs carried out are training in utilizing scrap fabric into beautiful brooches, training in utilizing used cardboard into picture frames, training in utilizing shoe boxes into tissue boxes, training in utilizing used styrofoam into decorative flowers, training in utilizing used cans into multi-purpose containers, and training in utilizing used styrofoam and used newspapers into wall hangings. This activity is able to overcome the problems faced by the Kepuh Kemiri Village community, namely by processing inorganic waste into commercial multi-purpose goods and increasing the knowledge of the Kepuh Kemiri Village community in processing inorganic waste.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have a significant contribution to national economic growth, but still face various obstacles in business management, especially in the aspect of business communication. Good communication skills are very necessary to build strong relationships with customers, increase competitiveness, and expand marketing networks. Business communication is the activity of conveying and receiving information in the business environment carried out by business actors with various parties related to their business activities. Ability in business communication is an important aspect that plays a role in the success of a business because it can be applied at every stage of business operations, from production to marketing. Problems that MSMEs often face in business communication with customers include lack of response to questions and complaints, low readiness in handling criticism, limitations in building good relationships with customers, and lack of efforts to maintain consumer loyalty. These obstacles reflect weak direct interaction with customers, which in the end can affect the perception and sustainability of the business. The lack of skills and understanding related to business communication among MSMEs in Meruya Selatan Subdistrict can become an obstacle in the development of their business, especially if it is not supported by appropriate and effective communication strategies. Therefore, this activity aims to increase the competency of MSME players, both in terms of understanding and skills in business communication, in order to support the development and sustainability of their businesses in the digital era.

Abstract

Residual plastic is part of plastic waste that has no economic value and has the potential to pollute the environment. One of the utilization of residual plastic is pyrolysis technology to produce fuel. However, pyrolysis is economically unfavorable and the technology is complicated. In this community service activity, collaboration with Bank Sampah Budi Luhur has been carried out in making a residual plastic processing tool with a capacity of 5 liters, cheap, practical, and easily understood by ordinary people. The purpose of this activity is to create a tool for utilizing residual plastic. The tool made has been tested in the process of making paving block product samples. Laboratory tests of the samples were carried out and obtained strength against compressive force reached 33.5 kg/cm2 for the composition of materials consisting of used oil, chopped residual plastic, and sand in a ratio of 1:1:0.5. Socialization of the operation of residual plastic waste processing tools was carried out to residents of Employee 3, Karang Tengah Kel, Kec. Ciledug, Tangerang, which is a partner of the Waste Bank of Budi Luhur University. The evaluation of the activity showed that the community gained insight into residual plastic waste processing tools so that they were more useful and able to reduce the rate of environmental pollution.

Abstract

The cultivation of food crops using a hydroponic system represents one of the activities in which the residents are engaged in order to support the sustainable development programme in RW 04, Ulujami sub-district, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. However, the pump system's water circulation operation in this hydroponic system still relies on an electrical energy source distributed from a residential property. The primary concern is that this will lead to increased electricity consumption, resulting in a financial burden for these residents. Consequently, the community service activity entailed training on the utilisation of renewable energy sources, namely sunlight, through the implementation of a photovoltaic system as a substitute for conventional energy sources. The objective of this initiative is to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills among partner communities in the utilisation of photovoltaic systems for the domestic fulfilment of electrical energy requirements, thereby enhancing autonomy and reducing reliance on electricity supplied by PLN. The community service activity was meticulously executed in three stages: namely, preparation (comprising a location survey and discussion about partner issues), implementation (involving the design and fabrication of apparatus, socialisation and demonstration of the utilisation of photovoltaic systems as a power supply for hydroponic systems, in addition to monitoring and evaluation), and finalisation. The results of the activities that have been carried out demonstrate the community's enthusiasm for participating in the socialisation process, as it is regarded as a potential solution to the problem of the sustainability of the hydroponic system at partner locations by utilising renewable energy sources.

Abstract

his community service program aims to strengthen personal branding competencies of Visual Communication Design (VCD) students as preparation for entering the creative industry. The rapid growth of the creative sector requires vocational graduates to possess not only technical design skills but also soft skills such as communication, self-confidence, and professional self-image. Initial observations at Ki Hajar Dewantoro Vocational High School revealed limited understanding of personal branding and lack of structured digital portfolios among students. The program was implemented through interactive seminars, hands-on workshops on personal branding kits (creative CVs and digital portfolios), and mentoring sessions focusing on soft skill development. The results indicate improved student awareness of personal branding, the creation of personal digital portfolios, and enhanced confidence in self-presentation. This activity contributes to improving students’ career readiness and supports sustainable development of vocational education in the creative industry.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a new phenomenon that can facilitate human activities. AI platforms can be used as a platform for searching for information to then be implemented as educational references in the world of education and many others. For students, the existence of AI can help as a new learning method that can be utilized well by students. Information generated by AI can be a benchmark for students in responding to information that has not been verified. Through adequate digital literacy skills, students are expected to not only be able to passively receive information, but are able to carry out a series of thinking methods and assess the truth contained in disinformation content. Through this PKM, it aims to increase the understanding of SMK Ikhlas Jawilan Serang Banten students about the impact of Artificial Intelligence disinformation that is often encountered in life and provide education on strategies for strengthening digital literacy both in using Artificial Intelligence wisely and responsibly. The PKM activity was held on May 7, 2026, and was attended by 50 participants from grade X students of SMK Ikhlas Jawilan. The activity's implementation methods included interactive lectures, discussions and sharing sessions, case study analysis, practice in differentiating AI information, and evaluation and reflection. The results demonstrated that students urgently need to develop proper and responsible digital literacy to minimize exposure to disinformation content through AI platforms. To address this issue, the community service team provided students with a variety of practical strategies that can be useful in filtering and distinguishing between disinformation and genuine information.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media has significantly changed adolescents’ communication patterns and daily activities, yet it has not been fully matched by their ability to produce creative and useful visual content. Youth in Petukangan Utara are active social media users but mainly act as content consumers rather than creators. Based on this condition, this community service program aims to enhance youth creativity and digital skills through training in social media visual content creation using Canva. The method applied a participatory approach with a learning-by-doing model, including basic training, hands-on practice, mentoring, and group-based content production. The results show that around 85% of participants were able to operate Canva independently, 90% produced at least two visual designs, and 75% demonstrated improved understanding of basic visual communication principles. In addition, participants experienced increased confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills. The program also broadened participants’ awareness of using design skills to support social activities and MSME promotion. In conclusion, Canva-based training effectively improves youth digital skills and plays an important role in technology-based community empowerment

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), has brought significant transformation across various sectors, including education and creative industries. AI now serves not only as an auxiliary tool but also as a key competence in producing effective and efficient digital content. However, most Vocational High School (SMK) students still lack the skills to utilize AI for digital content production. SMK Letris Indonesia 1, as a vocational education institution, has the potential to produce job-ready graduates but faces challenges in enhancing AI-based digital skills. This community service program aims to improve students' digital skills through training and mentoring in AI-based content creation. The methods used include interactive training, hands-on practice, project-based mentoring, and evaluation via pre-test and post-test. Targeted outputs include improved student competence, AI-based digital content products, mass media publications, and scientific articles. This program is expected to enhance students' readiness to face the digital workplace and technology-based creative industries.

Abstract

Indonesia terletak di kawasan Ring of Fire yang rentan terhadap ancaman bencana alam, namun edukasi mitigasi bencana di lingkungan sekolah masih didominasi oleh metode ceramah konvensional yang pasif dan kurang efektif dalam menginternalisasi tindakan penyelamatan diri. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi dan kesiapsiagaan mitigasi bencana siswa SMA Budi Luhur melalui pendekatan seni terapan berbasis dual coding dengan desain mural. Pelaksanaan kegiatan menerapkan pendekatan dual coding yang memadukan penyampaian materi teoretis dan praktik seni visual melalui empat tahapan utama: sosialisasi mitigasi, workshop desain, eksekusi panel mural dan evaluasi. Subjek sasaran terdiri dari 10 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling berdasarkan rekomendasi sekolah. Evaluasi keberhasilan diukur melalui analisis statistik deskriptif terhadap skor pre-test dan post-test (15 butir soal), penilaian karya visual, serta observasi keterlibatan peserta. Hasil kegiatan mencatat peningkatan rata-rata pemahaman kesiapsiagaan bencana peserta sebesar 50,4% (dari skor awal 58,5 pada pre-test menjadi 88,0 pada post-test), dengan kenaikan tertinggi dicapai pada indikator prosedur evakuasi darurat sebesar 57,2%. Pendekatan desain mural berbasis dual coding ini mampu mengalihkan pola edukasi bencana yang semula pasif menjadi pengalaman belajar intuitif dan kinestetik melalui partisipasi aktif siswa.
