Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus continues to show increasing global and national prevalence, driving the need for more effective and personalized management approaches. Innovative therapies such as SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP1 receptor agonists present as pharmacological solutions with promising cardiovascular and renoprotective benefits. However, the effectiveness of these therapies in clinical practice is determined not only by drug efficacy, but also by patient adherence and health system readiness. This study used a qualitative approach based on literature review to evaluate the challenges of adherence as well as the effectiveness and safety of innovative therapies in type 2 diabetes. The results of the analysis showed that although innovative drugs have been proven effective in clinical studies, response variability and side effects in real practice require realworld evidence (RWE)based monitoring. Obstacles such as high costs, unequal access, and low patient understanding are major barriers to widespread implementation of therapy. Adherenceenhancing strategies, technologybased education, and inclusive financing policies are needed to optimize the benefits of therapy. Thus, successful diabetes management through innovative therapies requires an integration of scientific approaches, public policies, and active patient participation in a fair and responsive health care system.

Abstract

Adolescent pregnancy remains a global health concern, necessitating effective educational interventions to improve maternal and child health outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of pregnancy health counseling programs for adolescents within school settings through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA framework. A total of 239 articles were retrieved from databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, SINTA, GARUDA, Crossref, and ICI. After a rigorous selection process based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, only 25 articles were deemed eligible for in-depth analysis. The findings indicate that school-based pregnancy counseling programs significantly enhance adolescents’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding maternal health. Various counseling methods, including face-to-face sessions, group discussions, and digital interventions, contribute to program effectiveness. However, challenges such as limited resources, social stigma, and accessibility barriers hinder program implementation. This study underscores the importance of integrating pregnancy health education into school curricula, leveraging technology for broader reach, and fostering collaboration between schools, healthcare professionals, and families. Future research should explore long-term impacts and the role of cultural factors in shaping program outcomes.

Abstract

Regular physical activity has long been recognized for its physical health benefits, but its role in promoting mental well-being is gaining increasing attention, especially among university students. This study aims to examine the influence of regular physical activity on various aspects of mental health, including levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and overall psychological well-being. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 250 university students through structured questionnaires that measured frequency of physical activity and mental health indicators using validated psychological scales. The results reveal a significant negative correlation between regular physical activity and symptoms of depression and anxiety, while a positive correlation was found with overall mental well-being. Students who engaged in at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week reported lower stress levels and greater emotional stability. The findings highlight the importance of incorporating physical activity into students’ daily routines as a preventive strategy for mental health challenges. Universities are encouraged to promote accessible fitness programs and provide awareness about the mental health benefits of exercise. This study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting physical activity as an effective, low-cost intervention to improve mental health outcomes among young adults.

Abstract

The gap in access and quality of health services in Indonesia, especially in remote areas, is a structural problem that continues to hamper the development of the health sector. The unequal distribution of health workers, limited infrastructure, and low investment in basic service facilities cause people in 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost) areas to experience delays in medical treatment and high maternal and infant mortality rates. Community health centers as primary health care institutions play a strategic role in overcoming this problem. However, the effectiveness of the role of Community Health Centers is often hampered by the imbalance between central policy design and local conditions, as well as a lack of resources and infrastructure. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study in one of the 3T areas to explore the challenges and strategies for reducing health disparities through Community Health Centers. The results show that the health policies implemented are often not contextual to local needs, such as limited medical personnel and infrastructure. Therefore, an approach based on local data and involving the community in policy formulation is needed to create more adaptive solutions. Decentralization of policies and the use of technology such as telemedicine are key to increasing the effectiveness of health services in remote areas.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a challenging transition period, with significant physical, psychological, and social changes for mothers. One common condition is baby blues, a mild mood disorder that usually appears in the first two weeks after giving birth. Around 70-80% of mothers experience baby blues symptoms such as anxiety, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping, which can disrupt the early relationship between mother and baby and slow recovery. Despite its high prevalence, this disorder is often considered normal and does not require intervention, whereas if not handled properly, the symptoms can develop into postpartum depression. Research shows that adequate emotional support from husbands and families can significantly reduce these symptoms. Unfortunately, many families lack understanding of postpartum psychological conditions, so they often provide unsupportive responses, which actually worsen the mother's condition. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to describe the experiences of mothers facing baby blues and the role of husband and family support in their recovery. The findings of this study emphasize the importance of education about postpartum maternal mental health and the need for changes in the social support system to be more sensitive and responsive to reduce the psychological impact on mothers and children

Abstract

Stigma against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in urban communities continues to be a significant issue despite advances in information and health services. Although better access to information can reduce prejudice, negative myths and stereotypes about HIV remain deeply rooted in society. This study reveals how stigma against PLWHA in large cities in Indonesia is influenced by moral narratives that associate HIV with deviant behavior, exacerbating unfounded fears about transmission. Limited knowledge about how HIV is transmitted, as well as often sensationalist media representations, further reinforce social discrimination against PLWHA. In addition to explicit discrimination, structural discrimination in the health sector and the workplace worsens the living conditions of PLWHA, hinders access to medical care and exacerbates socio-economic inequalities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review to explore the social construction of stigma and discrimination against PLWHA in urban areas. Through thematic analysis of various secondary sources, it is found that a more inclusive and culturally based approach is needed to address stigma, including campaigns that actively involve the community and improve more equitable policies. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of stigma as well as recommendations for public policies that are more oriented towards social justice and human rights for PLWHA.

Abstract

Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) is an important intervention that supports newborn survival and maternal health, especially in the first hour of life. IMD can prevent around 22% of neonatal deaths and provides benefits in the form of improving the baby's immune system through colostrum and stabilizing the baby's body temperature. In addition, IMD is also beneficial for the mother, such as accelerating uterine involution and supporting the formation of emotional bonds between mother and baby. Although the benefits are very significant, the implementation of IMD in the field still faces various challenges, such as lack of understanding of health workers, limited facilities, and policies that do not provide optimal support, especially for cesarean deliveries. In Indonesia, the low coverage of IMD reflects the gap between national health policies and their implementation in the field, with only 58.2% of babies receiving IMD. Factors that influence the success of IMD include the mother's level of knowledge, mental readiness, and support from competent health workers. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to describe the factors that influence the success of IMD in postpartum mothers. The results of the study are expected to provide recommendations for improving policies and practices of maternal and child health services, as well as expanding the coverage of IMD in Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the risk of type 2 diabetes in office workers affected by sedentary work patterns and irregular eating patterns. Office work tends to require low physical activity, high work pressure, and inconsistent meal times, which can increase the risk of metabolic disorders, including diabetes. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 150 office workers in urban areas, combined with in-depth interviews with 10 key informants. The results showed that 68% of respondents had irregular eating habits and 74% experienced moderate to high work stress. As many as 45% of respondents also showed blood sugar levels that were on the prediabetes threshold. Factors such as consumption of foods high in sugar and carbohydrates, lack of physical activity, and the habit of skipping breakfast contributed significantly to the increased risk of diabetes. These findings emphasize the need for interventions in the form of occupational health education, provision of healthy food in the office environment, and work time arrangements that support a healthy lifestyle. In conclusion, the lifestyle of modern office workers can be a serious risk factor for metabolic health, and requires more comprehensive preventive treatment.
