Abstract

Patient safety in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a critical aspect of postoperative care due to the high risk of complications caused by residual anesthetic effects. This scoping review aims to map scientific evidence regarding the implementation of patient safety protocols in PACU and their contribution to reducing post-anesthetic complications. Literature searches were conducted through PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar databases for articles published between 2020 and 2025. Ten relevant studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed narratively. The findings indicate that the implementation of patient safety protocols based on American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) standards significantly reduces complications such as hypothermia, postoperative nausea and vomiting, hypoxia, and hemodynamic instability by approximately 40–50%. Continuous monitoring, nurse compliance with standard operating procedures, adequate facilities, and multidisciplinary collaboration are key factors influencing successful protocol implementation. This review highlights that consistent application of patient safety protocols in PACU improves patient outcomes and supports the development of evidence-based nursing practice in anesthesia care.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease that requires long-term management and adherence to treatment to prevent complications. Promotive and preventive efforts through community empowerment are important strategies in controlling diabetes mellitus in primary health care. The WASIAT MANIS (Warga Siaga dan Tanggap Kencing Manis) program was developed as a health promotion innovation through outreach using posters and leaflets. This study aims to analyze the effect of the WASIAT MANIS program on improving adherence to treatment among diabetes mellitus patients at the Ngronggot Community Health Center based on the Health Belief Model theory. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach on 30 diabetes mellitus patients selected by purposive sampling. Treatment adherence was measured using questionnaires before and after the intervention. The results showed an increase in the average treatment adherence score from 32.3 before the intervention to 81.3 after the intervention. In addition, there was an increase in visits by diabetes mellitus patients to the Ngronggot Community Health Center and at the village level after the program implementation. The study's conclusions indicate that the WASIAT MANIS counseling program effectively improves treatment adherence and patient awareness of diabetes mellitus management. This program has the potential to become a community-based health promotion strategy that can be implemented sustainably in primary healthcare settings.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is a key strategy in public health promotion aimed at improving quality of life through behavioral change. According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the implementation of PHBS has not yet been fully integrated into daily life, highlighting the need for effective educational approaches. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of various educational media on PHBS behavior in communities through a systematic literature review. Articles were collected from the Garuda and Google Scholar databases, covering publications from 2021 to 2025. The selection process followed PRISMA guidelines and resulted in eight articles that were analyzed based on study design, type of educational media, and intervention outcomes. The findings indicate that educational media such as videos, social media, posters, leaflets, educational games, lectures, and discussions contribute to improving knowledge, attitudes, and PHBS practices. Social media and videos demonstrate strong potential for broad and repeated information dissemination, while print media and direct methods are more suitable for populations less familiar with technology. These findings suggest that educational media are an effective and relevant approach to enhancing PHBS implementation in the community.

Abstract

Heart disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Elevated total cholesterol and triglyceride levels are major risk factors influenced by age and gender. Therefore, analyzing lipid profiles based on demographic characteristics is important for cardiovascular risk assessment. This study aimed to analyze total cholesterol and triglyceride levels based on age and gender as indicators of cardiovascular disease risk. This descriptive study involved 41 respondents. The variables analyzed included age, gender, total cholesterol levels, and triglyceride levels. Total cholesterol levels were classified as normal (<200 mg/dL) and abnormal (≥200 mg/dL), while triglyceride levels were classified as normal (<150 mg/dL) and abnormal (≥150 mg/dL). Data were analyzed descriptively and presented as distribution tables and percentages. The results showed that 70.7% of respondents had abnormal total cholesterol levels, while 75.6% had normal triglyceride levels. Higher total cholesterol and triglyceride levels tended to occur in the 40–59 year age group. Both male and female respondents showed proportions of abnormal lipid levels that may increase cardiovascular risk. In conclusion, abnormal lipid profiles are still commonly found and may contribute to increased cardiovascular disease risk.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) in early childhood need to be habituated through developmentally appropriate learning strategies so they become part of daily school routines. This article aims to describe the effectiveness of introducing PHBS through interactive education to foster a healthy school culture among children at TK AN Namiroh. The program applied a participatory educational approach through interactive counseling, demonstration, and hands-on practice simulations. The participants were 22 children in one class. Implementation consisted of one day of interactive education, followed by one day of classroom habituation led by the homeroom teacher, and a direct evaluation using an observation checklist of PHBS behaviors. The observation results indicated that 20 children reached the “able and understand” category in applying the trained PHBS behaviors, while 2 children were still adjusting and required additional reinforcement for step consistency and independence. These findings suggest that interactive education combined with short-term habituation and performance-based assessment can establish observable PHBS practices in the classroom and provide a practical basis for positioning PHBS as a measurable routine within a healthy school culture.

Abstract

Burns are tissue injuries caused by hot liquids, chemicals, fire, or electric currents, and require proper treatment. Dragon scale leaves (Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M. G Price) contain bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, polyphenols, and steroids that may accelerate wound healing. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dragon scale leaf ethanol extract and determine the effective concentration for burn healing in male rats. A post-test control group experimental design was used with 25 male rats divided into five groups: negative control (base gel), positive control (Bioplacenton®), and three extract groups at concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 25%. Burn wound diameter was measured on days 0, 3, 7, and 14. Significant differences between groups were observed on days 7 and 14 (p<0.05). On day 14, the 25% extract group showed the best healing among extract groups (26.95%), followed by 20% (19.37%) and 15% (15.01%). The positive control showed the highest healing rate (40.01%), while the negative control showed the lowest (14.01%). These findings indicate that dragon scale leaf ethanol extract, especially at 25%, accelerates burn wound healing.
