Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) in early childhood need to be habituated through developmentally appropriate learning strategies so they become part of daily school routines. This article aims to describe the effectiveness of introducing PHBS through interactive education to foster a healthy school culture among children at TK AN Namiroh. The program applied a participatory educational approach through interactive counseling, demonstration, and hands-on practice simulations. The participants were 22 children in one class. Implementation consisted of one day of interactive education, followed by one day of classroom habituation led by the homeroom teacher, and a direct evaluation using an observation checklist of PHBS behaviors. The observation results indicated that 20 children reached the “able and understand” category in applying the trained PHBS behaviors, while 2 children were still adjusting and required additional reinforcement for step consistency and independence. These findings suggest that interactive education combined with short-term habituation and performance-based assessment can establish observable PHBS practices in the classroom and provide a practical basis for positioning PHBS as a measurable routine within a healthy school culture.

Abstract

The Family Planning (FP) program is a strategic governmental effort to control population growth and improve reproductive health. FP counseling plays a crucial role in increasing public knowledge regarding the benefits, types, and proper use of contraceptives. This counseling activity was conducted at Langsat Public Health Center in Pekanbaru, targeting housewives and couples of reproductive age. The methods used included lectures, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions supported by presentation media. The results showed an improvement in participants’ understanding of FP objectives, contraceptive types, and the health benefits for mothers and children. Additionally, there was an increased interest in becoming FP acceptors following the counseling session. This activity demonstrates that health education effectively enhances reproductive literacy and encourages healthier behavioral practices.

Abstract

Sleep is one of the basic human needs, so the need for sleep is a need for all ages. The need for sleep for children is a component that plays a role in their physical and intellectual growth. This study aims to determine the relationship between hospitalization anxiety levels and sleep disturbance in preschool children at TK. III Dr. Reksodiwiryo Hospital, Padang. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between hospitalization anxiety levels and sleep disturbance in preschool children at TK. III Dr. Reksodiwiryo Hospital, Padang, 2025.This research method uses a cross-sectional approach with an accidental sampling technique. This study was conducted in February - August 2025, research and data collection were conducted on April 17, 2025 to May 19, 2025. The population at the Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang Kindergarten III Hospital was 329 people and the sample size was 77 people.More than half of the respondents (72.7%) experienced sleep disturbance. More than half of the respondents (51.9%) experienced mild anxiety. There is a relationship between anxiety levels and sleep disturbance in preschool children at the Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang Kindergarten III Hospital (p-value 0.001 <0.05).It is hoped that the leadership of Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang Level III Hospital can provide a more child-friendly hospital environment, for example, animated images can be provided in each children's ward to reduce children's anxiety and fear. Taking into account the facts of hospitalization, patient demographics, and children's general anxiety levels, children with more colorful hospital rooms experience lower anxiety compared to those with ordinary wards. This study provides evidence that hospital design reduces the psychological impact of hospitalization. Although what is experienced as a supportive design will vary based on the child's developmental stage.

Abstract

Burns are tissue injuries caused by hot liquids, chemicals, fire, or electric currents, and require proper treatment. Dragon scale leaves (Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M. G Price) contain bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, polyphenols, and steroids that may accelerate wound healing. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dragon scale leaf ethanol extract and determine the effective concentration for burn healing in male rats. A post-test control group experimental design was used with 25 male rats divided into five groups: negative control (base gel), positive control (Bioplacenton®), and three extract groups at concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 25%. Burn wound diameter was measured on days 0, 3, 7, and 14. Significant differences between groups were observed on days 7 and 14 (p<0.05). On day 14, the 25% extract group showed the best healing among extract groups (26.95%), followed by 20% (19.37%) and 15% (15.01%). The positive control showed the highest healing rate (40.01%), while the negative control showed the lowest (14.01%). These findings indicate that dragon scale leaf ethanol extract, especially at 25%, accelerates burn wound healing.

Abstract

Acute ischemic stroke is a neurological emergency requiring prompt reperfusion therapy to prevent irreversible brain injury. Intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase has been shown to improve functional outcomes when administered within ≤4.5 hours of symptom onset. Door-to-Needle Time (DNT) is a key quality indicator directly associated with clinical prognosis. We report three cases of acute ischemic stroke (aged 57–66 years; two females and one male) who received intravenous thrombolysis at a tertiary care hospital. The respective DNTs were 43 minutes, 48 minutes, and 53 minutes. All patients presented with mild-to-moderate focal neurological deficits (hemiparesis, dysarthria/aphasia) within 4.5 hours of symptom onset. Two patients demonstrated clinical improvement without hemorrhagic complications. One patient developed mild mucosal bleeding without symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, leading to early discontinuation of the infusion. Achievement of DNT ≤60 minutes in all three cases reflects effective multidisciplinary coordination through an established code stroke system. Clinical challenges, such as hypertensive emergencies, can be managed without prolonging DNT when standardized protocols are optimally implemented.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Indonesia remain high. According to the Ministry of Health (2023), there were 7,389 maternal deaths and 120 infant deaths, consisting of 71 neonatal deaths and 49 post-neonatal deaths. West Sumatra ranks 10th among provinces, and Padang City ranks 1st due to preeclampsia, vaginal bleeding, postpartum infections, and unsafe abortions. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of education through WhatsApp Groups on pregnant women's knowledge of pregnancy danger signs at the Padang Pasir Community Health Center in 2025. This quantitative study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest and posttest approach. The population consisted of 134 pregnant women at the Padang Pasir Community Health Center. The study was conducted from March to August, with data collection carried out from July 1 to 23, 2025, using a questionnaire via Google Form. The sample consisted of 30 pregnant women selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon test, yielding a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). The results of this study indicate that the average knowledge of pregnant women before receiving education (45.66) increased after receiving education (87.50). The Wilcoxon test results show a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05), meaning that there is an effect of education through WhatsApp Groups on the knowledge of pregnant women about danger signs of pregnancy at the Padang Pasir Community Health Center. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of education through WhatsApp Group on the knowledge of pregnant women about danger signs of pregnancy at the Padang Pasir Community Health Center. It is hoped that health workers at the Padang Pasir Community Health Center can utilize social media such as WhatsApp Group in providing education to increase knowledge about danger signs of pregnancy.

Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between the duration of Depo Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) contraceptive use and menstrual cycle disturbances among users at the Nanggalo Community Health Center in Padang, West Sumatra. An observational analytical approach with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 56 female respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data collection included the PSS-10 questionnaire to exclude participants with high stress levels and an interview questionnaire to assess menstrual cycle disturbances. Analysis using the Chi-square test revealed that the majority of respondents (62.5%) had used DMPA for more than 24 months. The most common menstrual disturbance reported was amenorrhea (69.6%), followed by oligomenorrhea (8.9%) and polymenorrhea (7.1%). Statistical analysis showed no significant association between the duration of DMPA use and the occurrence of menstrual disturbances (p=0.876). These findings suggest that the length of DMPA use does not significantly influence menstrual cycle changes among users in this setting, and they may serve as useful educational material for healthcare providers and considerations for individuals choosing DMPA as a contraceptive.

Abstract

Chemical exposure in industrial environments is a major risk factor contributing to adverse health outcomes among workers. This study aims to analyze the impact of chemical exposure on industrial workers’ health through a qualitative literature review by examining scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 from electronic databases such as Google Scholar and ResearchGate  . The findings indicate that exposure to chemicals such as benzene, mercury, organic solvents, and toxic gases exerts significant toxic effects on multiple physiological systems, including the respiratory, nervous, and reproductive systems, as well as vital organs such as the liver and kidneys, with primary exposure routes through inhalation, dermal contact, and ingestion. Most studies report exposure levels within moderate to high-risk categories, with the potential to cause both acute and chronic health effects, including degenerative diseases and malignancies. Determinant factors influencing risk levels include duration of exposure, compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, workplace ventilation conditions, and workers’ knowledge levels. Therefore, comprehensive risk control measures are required through the implementation of the hierarchy of controls, strengthening occupational health and safety (OHS) management systems, and enhancing worker education and training to establish a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment.
