Abstract

This study examines the role of cultural festivals as a strategic instrument for internalizing the values of tolerance and diversity within an educational environment. Employing a qualitative case study approach at SMP Negeri 1 Harau, Limapuluh Kota Regency, the research explores how local cultural expressions are integrated into the curriculum through the Project for Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students (P5). Data were gathered through participatory observation and in-depth interviews to analyze the transformation of cultural activities from mere ceremonial displays into ingrained character traits. The findings reveal that cultural festivals function as a pedagogical 'contact zone' that effectively facilitates students' negotiation of differences and strengthens social bonding. The integration of traditional arts serves not only as a vehicle for cultural preservation but also as a fundamental mechanism for fostering inclusivity and mutual respect. This study concludes that local wisdom-based education is pivotal to constructing a harmonious educational ecosystem and providing a robust framework for social cohesion in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Pondok Pesantren Agroecology BhU in Bogor Regency as an alternative, environmentally based educational center responding to socio-ecological crises caused by the proliferation of gold mining activities. Employing a qualitative approach with an ethnographic method, the research traces the genealogy of the environmental movement and the critical pedagogical strategies implemented by the pesantren. The pesantren serves as a counter-discourse arena against the dominant knowledge regime that legitimizes extractive economies, fostering the structural awareness of students and the community while revitalizing agrarian practices and local ecological values. Findings reveal that critical education in the pesantren not only transfers knowledge but also cultivates ecological consciousness and social justice, linking Islamic spirituality with environmental advocacy. This model highlights the potential of pesantren as key actors in building socio-ecological resilience and resisting extractive capitalism, while offering a contextual educational framework relevant to vulnerable communities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji kontroversi antara Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo dan tayangan Xpose Uncensored di Trans7 pada Oktober 2025 yang memunculkan perdebatan publik mengenai makna tradisi keagamaan dan cara media merepresentasikannya. Tayangan tersebut menampilkan praktik penghormatan santri kepada kiai secara negatif, sehingga menimbulkan benturan antara nilai-nilai tradisional dan pandangan modern. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dinamika relasi antara tradisi keagamaan dan media modern melalui perspektif pemikiran Adonis dalam Al-Thābit wa al-Mutahawwil. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan analisis wacana terhadap teks tayangan, dokumen resmi, pemberitaan media, serta karya-karya Adonis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media tidak hanya berperan sebagai penyampai informasi, tetapi juga sebagai pembentuk wacana yang menafsirkan ulang tradisi dalam kerangka modernitas. Temuan ini memperlihatkan pertarungan antara yang tetap (al-thābit) dan yang berubah (al-mutahawwil) dalam konstruksi makna tradisi di ruang publik.

Abstract

Islamic teachings emphasize equality, piety, and social solidarity, values that are manifested in various Indonesian Muslim rituals, including the fidaan tradition. This study examines fidaan in Undaan Kudus not only as a spiritual ritual for the deceased but also as a social practice embedded with power relations and symbolic meanings. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with religious leaders and community members. Drawing on Clifford Geertz’s symbolic interpretation and Anthony Giddens’ structuration theory, the study reveals that fidaan functions as a system of symbols that mediates between worldview and ethos while simultaneously reproducing social hierarchy through religious authority and material resources. Although perceived as voluntary and adaptable, fidaan implicitly reinforces stratification and symbolic recognition within the community. This research contributes to the understanding of local Islamic rituals as arenas where spirituality, social identity, and domination intersect in everyday religious life.

Abstract

This study aims to understand urban loneliness in Surabaya and to explain how configurations of hybrid social capital combining offline and online relations shape urban residents' vulnerability to mental health problems. The research employs a qualitative approach, using interpretative phenomenological analysis, through in-depth interviews with a purposively selected number of informants based on age, length of residence, and level of engagement with digital media. The primary theoretical framework applied is Robert Putnam's social capital theory, particularly the distinction between bonding and bridging social capital in the context of urban life. The findings indicate that loneliness does not arise from a quantitative absence of social relations, but rather from the weakened quality of meaningful, stable, and emotionally supportive relationships. The dominance of broad yet shallow social networks strengthens bridging social capital while weakening bonding social capital, leaving individuals socially connected but with few reliable sources of emotional support. Such configurations of social capital render loneliness a structural condition of urban life that contributes to increased vulnerability to mental health disorders.
