Abstract

This cross-sectional study sought to determine the correlation between oxygen saturation and peak flow meter readings, taking into account hemoglobin levels. Participants aged 55 years and over were examined using direct measurement methods, with hemoglobin measured via the strip test method, and oxygen saturation and peak flow meter values assessed using a pulse oximeter and peak flow meter, respectively. Analysis of the collected data from 12 subjects, averaged 63 years old, revealed a significant correlation between oxygen saturation (average 96.6%) and peak flow volume (average 223.3 mL/mnt) (r=0.727, p=0.007). The findings suggest that this relationship is more potent in individuals with respiratory disorders or under certain environmental risk factors. Nonetheless, in healthier contexts, the correlation may be weaker or absent, emphasizing the need for further research to enhance the management of respiratory and lung disorders

Abstract

This study examined the correlation of external risk factors to the incidence of AOM in toddlers and preschoolers. This research used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach and data processing uses univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. Of the 61 research subjects, the majority of toddlers with AOM were 1-3 years old, 32 children (52.5%), 33 children (54.1%) were female, 37 children (60.7%) had perforation stage. 52 children (85.2%) received exclusive breastfeeding. The results showed that the four variables, including breastfeeding duration, use of pacifiers, PCV vaccinations, and history of ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection), correlated to incidences of acute otitis media. PCV vaccination and history of ARI are the most influencing variables with p-values of 0.024 and 0.006. There is a relationship between external risk factors and the incidence of AOM in toddlers, where the most influential variables are the administration of the PCV vaccine and a history of upper respiratory infection. The researcher of this study suggests at least three doses of PCV vaccination for children at the ages 2, 4, and 6 months, alongside the protection from triggers of ARI to prevent the occurrence of AOM.

Abstract

One of the most often utilized measures in calculating body proportion criterion is the BMI. The goal of this study is to see if there is a link between BMI and glucose levels in students who are given virtual physical activity. A high sedentary lifestyle is thought to be linked to the high prevalence of metabolic disorders among students. A rise in BMI or waist circumference levels indicates that a person may be at risk for a variety of metabolic disorders as a result of body mass index. An experimental study was utilized to investigate if there was a difference in the respondents' body mass index and waist circumference before and after the intervention. Before and after the treatment, there were significant variations in waist circumference (76.921.51 vs 74.651.47 cm, p0.001) and BMI (23.540.76 vs 23.050.77 cm, p0.001). Furthermore, with a value of r=0.895 and p0.001, there is a high link between BMI and waist circumference.

Abstract

Elderly people experience the aging process mainly through three stages, including weakness, functional limitations and inhibitions. Physical, mental, psychological and spiritual changes occur. Examination of hemoglobin (Hb), fasting blood glucose (FBS), and blood pressure (BP) levels can represent a picture of the aging process and see the health condition of the elderly. Hb levels to assess whether there is anemia or not which can be associated with nutritional intake or certain blood disorders. FBS levels describe the state of glucose in the bloodstream to see the possibility of experiencing diabetes mellitus (DM), because DM has quite a severe impact with microvascular and macrovascular complications. BP measurements can describe the health condition of the heart and blood vessels. This research is a descriptive study. The method used is the survey method and data collection techniques using tests and measurements. The subjects of this study were members of the Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership (PCM) Ciledug who were over or equal to 60 years old. The number of samples studied was 63 people with an average result for Hb: 13.3 gr/dL, GDP: 111.23 gr/dL, then the results of hypertension were 58.73%. Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and can infect various organs, including the lungs and extrapulmonary. Standard treatment uses anti-TB drugs (OAT) such as rifampicin, isoniazid, ethambutol, and pyrazinamide, which can cause hepatotoxic side effects or Drug-Induced Liver Injury (DILI). This study aims to analyze the incidence of DILI in TB patients receiving OAT FDC therapy. The method used is a case study on a 24-year-old patient who experienced nausea, vomiting, and jaundice after receiving FDC therapy. Laboratory examinations showed increased ALT and AST, indicating DILI. Data were analyzed with periodic monitoring of liver enzymes and clinical changes. The results showed that temporary cessation of OAT and administration of hepatoprotective curcuma supplements were effective in improving liver function. This study suggests routine liver enzyme examination in patients receiving OAT therapy to prevent DILI. Alternative OAT therapy can be considered in patients with severe DILI.

Abstract

ntroduction The Thousand Islands, a popular tourist destination in DKI Jakarta Province, is facing a new challenge, namely the increasing concern about the transmission of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) triggered by the increase in tourism visits. In response to this issue, a community service activity was carried out by the Faculty of Medicine at UHAMKA. Objective The aim of this activity is to raise awareness and knowledge in the community, particularly among educators in the Thousand Islands, about the dangers of and prevention against STIs and the importance of Reproductive Health Education. Method The partners in this community service activity are teachers in the Thousand Islands. A total of 30 teachers were involved in this training. The methods used involve training and counseling that incorporate direct training and open discussions. Data were collected through observations and field notes. Results The results of this activity include an increase in understanding and skills of teachers concerning Reproductive Health Education and STI prevention, which they can apply in educating students. Additionally, it was found that community awareness about the dangers of STIs also increased as a direct result of this activity. Conclusion The conclusion that can be derived from this activity is that appropriate education and training on reproductive health and the prevention of STIs for the community, specifically educators, can be an effective strategy in controlling STI transmission in tourist areas like the Thousand Islands. This activity also helps to strengthen the local health system in dealing with the challenge of STI transmission.
