Abstract

The Pugun Tanoh herbs (Picria fel terrae L.), a species of plant from the family Scrophulariceae. The study was to determine the percent mortality and LC50 value of the ethanolic extract of Pugun Tanoh herbs in Artemia Salina L. larvae by using the Brime Shirmp Lethality Test (BSLT). Treatment concentrations include 180.0 ppm; 200.0 ppm; 220.0 ppm; 240.0 ppm; 260.0 ppm; 280.0 ppm; and 300.0 ppm and 0.0 ppm as negative controls with three replications. Each concentration used 10 larvae of Artemia salina L. 48 hours old. Toxicity was identified based on percent larval mortality by probit analysis (LC50). The result is a linear equation, Y = 11.222X+65,427. The LC50 value was reached when the concentration was 188.691 ppm. Toxicity of the ethanolic extract of Pugun Tanoh herbs was tested by BSLT. It showed toxic properties, there was potential as an anticancer because LC50 < 1000.0 ppm.

Abstract

Calcium minerals play an important role in maintaining body functions, while Lead is a dangerous heavy metal. The research was aimed at determining the levels of Calcium and Lead from several refill water depots in Medan. Calcium complexometry and lead AAS as their respective assay methods. Research shows calcium levels are 10.3-29.3 mg/L, correlation coefficient is 0.9928, and no lead is found in refill drinking water. Calcium levels do not meet the requirements, while lead levels still meet the WHO requirements.

Abstract

Eyebrow cream (EC) is one of the decorative cosmetics applied to the eyebrows using a brush for the purpose of giving color and emphasizing the shape of the eyebrows. EC is one of the practical preparations to fill in empty eyebrow hairs. The research was conducted of formulating activated charcoal into EC. The research method includes the formulation and evaluation of EC results from coconut shell activated charcoal at concentrations of activated charcoal 1%, 3%, 5% and 7%. Evaluation includes: organoleptic, homogeneity, irritation and pH of Eyebrow Cream. The organoleptic showed that the color of the preparation at a concentration of 1% -7% was black to dark black, with a cocoa oleum aroma, and a semi-solid texture. The pH of the preparation is 4.5-6.5 with good homogeneity. The preparation did not show irritation to the skin of volunteers. The study provide information that activated charcoal can be formulated into EC preparations. Coconut shell activated charcoal can be formulated in the form of eyebrow cream. The preparation of eyebrow cream does not cause irritation and is safe.

Abstract

Menurut WHO tahun 2014, Sex Education adalah penyediaan informasi tentang perkembangan tubuh, seks, seksualitas, hubungan, yang disertai dengan keterampilan dan pengajaran untuk membantu remaja berkomunikasi dan membuat keputusan yang meliputi seks dan kesehatan seksual. Studi pendahuluan di SMA Negeri 1 Kampar Timur didapatkan informasi bahwa setiap semesternya terdapat siswa yang Drop Out karena hamil di luar nikah, serta belum pernah dilakukan penyuluhan tentang Sex Education. Penelitian ditujukan untuk mengetahui pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi Sex Education pada siswa di SMAN 1, Kampar Timur. Pre Experimental Design dengan One Group Pre and Post Test Design digunakan dalam penelitian. Accidental sampling digunakan pada pengambilan sampel dengan jumlah 50 orang. Data dikumpul dengan kuesioner yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Analisis univariat dan bivariat digunakan Wilcoxon Test. Hasil menunjukkan ada beda konwledge sebelum dan sesudah intervensi yang signifikan (p < 0,05). Perbedaan knowledge ada sebelum dan sesudah intevensi Sex Education pada siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Kampar Timur.

Abstract

Clarias batrachus is one of the commercially cultivated freshwater fish species in Indonesia, especially in North Sumatra. Nutrinya content of protein, fat, minerals, carbohydrates, and water. Minerals play an important role in metabolic processes that ensure the maintenance of body functions at the cellular, tissue and organ levels. The research was aimed at determining the zinc content of raw, steamed, grilled, and fried catfish by using visible light spectrophotometry method after destruction and adding alkaline dithizone solution. Clarias batrachus samples were taken purposively from the traditional market of Sei Sikambing Medan. Method validation includes accuracy, precision, and sensitivity. The results show that it is accurate with accuracy, precision, limit of detection and quantitation of 99.95% each; 1.06%; 0.620 g/ml; 2.066 g/ml. ANOVA test showed no significant difference in zinc content of raw, steamed, grilled, and fried catfish.

Abstract

Food additives are substances that are mixed to improve the quality of food without nutrition, for example food and beverage coloring. rhodamine B and methanyl yellow, which were the focus to identify their presence in beverages at Elementary Schools (SD), Lubuklinggau Selatan II District. Descriptive research and accidental sampling, samples were tested directly by Test Kit of rhodamine B and methanyl yellow. The results showed that 3 of the 15 samples tested by the Rodamine B Test Kit were positive with an indication of a change in color to purplish red, and of the 13 samples tested by the methanyl yellow Test Kit, the color was the same as the initial color of the drink, there was no methanyl yellow content in the drink at SD Lubuklinggau Selatan II sub-district.

Abstract

Indonesia's natural wealth that is efficacious in suppressing cholesterol, hypertension, diarrhea, gastritis and blood sugar is one of the bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum Wight.). Tablets are preparations that are practical to use, easy to produce, pack, and distribute. The research was directed to make tablets of bay leaf ethanol extract (EEDS) by direct compression. EEDS tablets were made into four formulas with various fillers of lactose and Avicel PH 102, each 200 mg : 135 mg A); 250 mg : 105 mg (B); 300 mg : 55 mg (C); and 350 mg : 5 mg (D). The study showed that all formulas met the preformulation test requirements and tablet evaluation, D as the best formula. EEDS is made into tablets by direct compression.

Abstract

Coffee drinks are one of the most popular drinks for people of all ages, especially adults. But now with the addition of flavor, most people are enjoying coffee drinks.The purpose of the study was to see the effect of fermentation on the taste and aroma of brewed Arabica coffee with Lactobacillus casei and yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae isolates with the addition of grape juice and sucrose and the level of toxicity of the fermentation of brewed Arabica coffee with the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT).This research is experimental, namely the fermentation of brewed Arabica coffee with Lactobacillus casei and yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae isolates with the addition of grape juice and sucrose. Fermentation was carried out for 3 days at open room temperature under anaerobic conditions. The results of the fermentation were tested for Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT), alcohol content test and organoleptic test by 15 panelists. Furthermore, the data were tested using the hedonic test of analysis of variance.The results of the variance showed that the fermentation of roasted Arabica coffee and green beans on taste obtained F count < F table 1% showed no significant difference, for aroma obtained F count > F table 1% showed there was a significant difference, to the color of the steeped fermented sample Roasted Arabica coffee obtained F count < F table 1% shows there is no real difference while in green beans obtained F count > F table 1% shows there is a significant difference.

Abstract

One of the herbal plants with antibacterial properties that it can use in solid antiseptic soap is lemon peel (Citrus limon (L.) Burm.F.). This study aims to determine the optimum composition of antiseptic solid soap preparations from the ethanolic extract of lemon peel based on the requirements set by SNI 06-4085-1996 and the antibacterial activity test. The antibacterial activity test was carried out by the good method. Examination of Simplicia characteristics was carried out by phytochemical screening test. The antiseptic solid soap preparation was performed by organoleptic test, pH test, homogeneity test, high foam test, and antibacterial activity test. The concentration variations of antiseptic solid soap preparations were F1(5%), F2(10%), and F3(15%). Based on the results of research that has been carried out, the results of phytochemical screening tests for lemon peels (Citrus limon (L.) Burm.F.) contain secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, and triterpenoids that function as antibacterial. Antiseptic solid soap made from ethanolic extract of lemon peel has met the requirements set by SNI 06-4085-1996, namely a solid and homogeneous soap with a lemon scent with a pH of 8.71-10.52, high foam 4.7-4.9 cm, as well as free alkali in a safe condition against the skin. Based on the results of the antibacterial activity test of solid antiseptic soap, the ethanolic extract of lemon peel (Citrus limon (L.) Burm.F.) can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. At a concentration of F1(5%) has a zone of moderate inhibition of 10.26 mm; at concentration F2(10%) has a strong inhibition zone of 11.78 mm; at the concentration of F3(15%) has a strong inhibition zone of 12.57 mm. Lemon peel extract can be formulated into a solid antiseptic soap with an optimum concentration of F3 (15%).

Abstract

Facial anthropometry is known as the science of measuring and analyzing the proportions of the human face and provides important information about differences in shape and size of various races, ages, and sexes. The size, shape and position of the nose determine the aesthetic appearance of the face and are important in prognosis. care, references to diagnostic, clinical, and forensic procedures. The general objective of this study was to obtain data on various forms of nasal indices in Javanese, Batak, Malay ethnic groups. This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. Data collection uses primary data by measuring. Samples were taken using purposive sampling method. The research sample is 75 people, each ethnic group is 25 people. Based on the nasalis lepthorhine index, the highest percentage was in the Javanese, 60% Mesorhine, the highest was the Malay, 41.4%, and the platyrrhine category was the largest, the Javanese and Batak, 34.3%, respectively, hyperchamarine, 33.3%, respectively, in the Javanese, Malay and Batak. Variations in the nasalis index prove that there is a possible gene pool that provides variation in the population. The gene pool of a particular population can change over time through the process of evolution. This can occur due to a variety of mechanisms, including mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift
