Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has an important role in shaping students’ character through the cultivation of Islamic values in educational settings. However, the learning process is still often centered on memorization and theoretical understanding, so the values taught are not always reflected in students’ daily attitudes and behavior. This article discusses the concept of beyond memorization as a learning approach that emphasizes not only knowledge acquisition, but also understanding, appreciation, and the practical application of character values in everyday life. The study uses a literature review method by examining journals, books, and other scientific sources related to PAI learning models and the internalization of character values. The findings reveal that contextual, cooperative, problem-based, and multidisciplinary learning models can make the learning process more meaningful and relevant to students’ real-life experiences. Character values are instilled through teachers’ role models, habituation, advice, the creation of a religious school culture, and continuous interaction between teachers and students. Through this approach, PAI learning functions not merely as a medium for delivering religious knowledge, but also as a means of developing religious character, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, and social awareness in facing the challenges of modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, and learning interest from the perspective of Islamic education. The objective of this study is to synthesize existing literature and explore how emotional and spiritual dimensions contribute to fostering students' learning interest within the framework of Islamic educational values. This study employs a literature review method by examining and analyzing various books, journal articles, and academic publications related to emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, learning interest, and Islamic education. The findings indicate that emotional intelligence plays a significant role in helping students manage their emotions, develop positive social interactions, and maintain motivation throughout the learning process. Spiritual intelligence contributes to the development of life meaning, self-awareness, moral responsibility, and a stronger connection with religious values, which can enhance students’ engagement in learning activities. From the perspective of Islamic education, both forms of intelligence are closely associated with the cultivation of iman (faith), taqwa (piety), akhlaq (moral character), and self-discipline. The reviewed literature suggests that the integration of emotional and spiritual intelligence supports the development of stronger and more sustainable learning interest among students. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative approach that connects emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, and learning interest within the context of Islamic education. This review offers a more holistic perspective by emphasizing the interrelationship of emotional, spiritual, and educational values in shaping students’ learning interest and overall development.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning of "pendusta agama" in QS al-Maun/107:1-3, as well as to analyze the relationship between the behavior of "pendusta agama" and structural poverty, and the solutions offered to address poverty. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a library research approach. The method used is the tahlili method. The results of the study show that the term "pendusta agama" in QS al-Mā‘ūn is not only understood as someone who denies religious teachings, but also as someone who is unjust to orphans, reluctant to help the poor, and does not promote social awareness. These behaviors are related to the formation of structural poverty because they reflect social injustice and the neglect of the rights of the disadvantaged. Penelitian ini juga menegaskan bahwa kemiskinan dipengaruhi oleh sistem sosial yang tidak berpihak pada masyarakat miskin dan bukan sekadar persoalan individual. Therefore, QS al-Mā‘ūn conveys a moral and social message to Muslims to build social awareness, distribute aid effectively, and optimize the use of zakat to reduce poverty and social inequality. This study is expected to contribute to the development of social tafsir studies related to the problem of poverty. Further research is recommended to develop a more in-depth study through the maqāṣid approach

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internalization of disciplinary values through the reward and punishment approach in Islamic Religious Education learning at junior high schools. This research was motivated by the existence of various disciplinary problems among students, such as tardiness, lack of responsibility in completing assignments, and violations of school regulations. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a multi-site study design conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Ponorogo, SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo, and SMP Ma’arif 1 Ponorogo. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the implementation of reward and punishment in Islamic Religious Education learning had a positive impact on shaping students’ disciplinary character. Rewards were given in the form of praise, verbal appreciation, additional scores, and appreciation for positive behavior, while punishments were applied educatively through warnings, advice, guidance, and educational assignments. In addition, the internalization of disciplinary values was strengthened through positive habituation and teacher role modeling in daily school activities. The consistent implementation of reward and punishment was proven to improve students’ learning motivation, responsibility, and compliance with school regulations. Therefore, reward and punishment can be an effective strategy in developing students’ disciplinary character in junior high schools.

Abstract

The rapid development of modern science and technology, particularly in the fields of medicine, biotechnology, and healthcare, has significantly transformed human life. Innovations such as genetic engineering, cloning, in vitro fertilization (IVF), organ transplantation, and vaccine development have contributed greatly to improving human health and quality of life. However, these advancements also raise ethical, moral, and religious concerns that require comprehensive analysis, particularly from the perspective of Islamic bioethics. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic bioethics and Islamic Religious Education in addressing the challenges posed by modern scientific development. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods by examining books, scientific journals, fatwas, and other relevant academic literature related to Islamic bioethics, maqashid sharia, and the ethics of modern science. The findings indicate that Islam fundamentally supports scientific and technological advancement as long as it remains aligned with moral values and the objectives of Islamic law (maqashid sharia). Islamic bioethics functions as an ethical framework for evaluating modern biomedical technologies by emphasizing the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property. Furthermore, Islamic Religious Education plays a strategic role in fostering ethical awareness, critical thinking, and spiritual responsibility among students in responding to technological advancement. Therefore, the integration of Islamic bioethics into Islamic Religious Education is essential for developing a generation that is intellectually competent, morally responsible, and spiritually grounded in facing the challenges of modern science and technology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the financial comfort zone on the learning discipline of college students receiving the KIP-Kuliah scholarship. The financial comfort zone is a psychological condition where students feel secure due to full tuition coverage and monthly stipends, which potentially triggers a moral hazard in the form of academic passivity. This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and observation of KIP-Kuliah recipients whose class attendance fell below 75%. The results indicate that a stable financial comfort zone contributes to a decline in learning discipline when not accompanied by rigid institutional monitoring or strong intrinsic motivation. The guarantee of "free college" tends to diminish the students' sense of urgency, leading to behaviors such as skipping morning classes and delaying assignment submissions. This study recommends that higher education institutions implement a real-time attendance monitoring system directly tied to semesterly scholarship eligibility evaluations
