Abstract

Following the recent changes in laws regarding national identity card for the adherents of indigenous beliefs in Indonesia, this study tries to examine 21 types of regulations to see how freedom of indigenous beliefs is in Indonesia from their adherents’ perspective. This is done through conducting semi-structured, in-depth interviews with three groups of indigenous beliefs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The types of regulations examined are taken from The Religion and State Project Round 3 by Jonathan Fox of Bar-Ilan University that has been used widely to gather cross-country data on religious freedom. The result of the interviews shows that there are at least four restrictive regulation points, namely on places of worship, surveillance, antireligious campaign and religious education.

Abstract

Many people believe that misfortunes such as illness, death, crop failure, livestock death, and divorce are caused by certain people with magical powers and knowledge called "witchcraft". Like many other areas in Indonesia, Banyuwangi is one of the areas stigmatized by a lot of witchcraft. This stigma is then embedded in society, something that is said to be rooted in myths from the past. Witchcraft which is attached to magical rituals is difficult to prove by state law, because the basis of proof is difficult. So we need another formula to solve this witchcraft case with other models. When the elements of culture and Islam came in, the way to solve witchcraft was done by involving these elements of culture and Islam. Ways such as the pocong oath and the oath of the Koran as a way to resolve the case. This tradition is then often carried out to resolve witchcraft cases in society as a substitute for positive law which is difficult to prove in this case.

Abstract

Abstract The growing prevalence of cancer patients is a significant obstacle to global human growth. Prostate carcinoma is one of the types of cancer that kills the most men. The second most frequently diagnosed kind of carcinoma is prostate cancer (Pca), which is also the sixth biggest cause of death in males globally. Urine can be a candidate for early diagnosis of non-invasive cancer, however the rule on the use of urine as a sample in Islam has not yet been thoroughly addressed. Prostate cancer testing is still an intrusive procedure. The goal of this study was to ascertain the legality of using urine samples as potential candidates for the early identification of cancer from both an Islamic and scientific standpoint. Meta-analysis is combined with a qualitative methodology. According to the study's findings, urine may be a candidate for the early detection of cancer. Legally speaking, urine can be used as long as it is not applied directly to patients either topically or orally in order to prevent it from becoming haram. This is because the authors were unable to find any evidence to support the prohibition of using urine on patients.

Abstract

This article positions the "Muslimah Media Center" (MMC) as the Islamic digital preaching activities. This religious community media identifies itself as an Islamic platform with a commitment to propagating Islamic values. It actively presents content analyzing various Islamic issues and often campaigns for Islam as a practical and effective solution to every problem. The portrayal of religious reality presented in the digital space plays a significant role in shaping the image of Islam in the virtual world. Hence, there is a need for an investigation into digital preaching activism that shapes the image of Islam, employing a Critical Public Relations (PR) perspective. The objective is to provide a critical and explorative explanation to understand how Islamic performance is showcased through the Muslimah Media Center. This study uses virtual ethnography as its method, as the data collected is sourced from digital traces and artifacts. Consequently, it can be concluded that the image of Islam generated by this digital preaching activism not only reinforces religious beliefs but also disseminates certain ideologies that are assumed to be in contrast with other religious ideologies.
