Abstract

Mustafa Sabri (1869-1954) was the last Islamic sheikh of the Ottoman Caliphate who adhered to the traditional madhhab, as depicted in his work entitled Mauqif al-'Aql wa al-'Ilm wa al-'Aalam min Rabb al-'Alamin wa Ibadihi al-Mursalin. The central issue in Sabri's work revolves around countering the secularization of the Islamic world, particularly the efforts led by Mustafa Kemal Pasha. This research adopts a library research approach, focusing exclusively on analyzing Sabri's Mauqif al-'Aql wa al-'Ilm wa al-'Aalam min Rabb al-'Alamin wa Ibadihi al-Mursalin as the primary source. The findings of this research reveal that, according to Sabri, religion is the most fundamental principle, one that is unchangeable by anyone. Sabri clearly distinguishes between faith and deeds, emphasizing that Islam is primarily a religion of faith rather than merely one of deeds. This is because, in Sabri's view, a person's faith determines whether their deeds are accepted in religion.

Abstract

Matchmaking traditions in Indonesia are always interesting to research, especially matchmaking to someone who is still underage, of course, this tradition raises social problems which, if confronted with the law, will generate debate. For example, the mamppasiala tradition often ignores the rights of prospective male and female brides in the practice of underage marriage. This research aims to reveal the practices, implications, and perspectives of maqasid syari'ah regarding the mappasiala tradition in underage marriage among the Bugis community of Southeast Sulawesi. This research is qualitative research with an empirical-normative approach which includes interviews with traditional actors, traditional leaders, community leaders, and religious leaders. The research results reveal that the practice of the mappasiala tradition goes through three stages; mappasiruntu pattujung, mappasicelleng, and mappakado wija. The mappasiala tradition has double implications (positive and negative) for underage marriage. Maqasid syari'ah views that the mappasiala tradition tends not to achieve the goals of marriage specifically and the goals of Islamic law in general. Therefore, ijtihad regarding the law on matchmaking and underage marriage is very necessary to meet the legal needs of contemporary society. Thus, it is hoped that this research can make a global contribution to developing the study of traditions, customs, and culture.

Abstract

The authority to regulate Hajj initial deposit financing products in Islamic banking between OJK as a regulator and supervisor of financial institutions and the Ministry of Religion as the organizer of Hajj in Indonesia is interesting to study. The research aims to find efforts to harmonize the law of Hajj initial deposit financing in Tanjungpinang city for legal certainty in the community and contribute to the improvement of maslahah policies.  The research is a normative qualitative-legal research and the data is obtained through interview techniques and a collection of documents in the form of books and reputable scientific articles. The findings in the study are first, the practice of financing the initial deposit of Hajj in Tanjungpinang City was carried out by Bank Muamalat KC Tanjungpinang with the Pro Hajj multipurpose product in August 2020, then stopped because it violated the rules of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion and was replaced with the Pro Hajj Plus product. Second, harmonization of regulations is a must to be carried out with regulations from the OJK considering that the authority to regulate and supervise Islamic banking is with the OJK not the Ministry of Religion.

Abstract

The younger generation, particularly Muslims, faces concerns about an uncertain future, particularly regarding job opportunities. The unemployment rate in Indonesia has shown an increase, predominantly among the younger generation. This study aims to examine the impact of financial literacy, perceived risk, and high self-confidence on the decision to invest in stocks, particularly Islamic stocks. The research was conducted in the Solo Raya area with 125 Muslim youth investors as respondents, consisting of millennials and Generation Z. The analysis technique used was multiple regression, conducted using SPSS software version 24. The regression results, with a significance value below 0.05, indicate a significant influence of financial literacy, perceived risk, and high self-confidence on the investment decisions of young Muslim investors. Good financial knowledge encourages the younger generation to invest in stocks with confidence, anticipating substantial profits in the future. Perception of risk remains a consideration, leading young investors to delay investment decisions until they feel highly confident.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the construction of public opinion and perception regarding religious moderation in the context of Mount Semeru incident, Lumajang, Indonesia, (2022). This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing perception theory and virtual ethnographic analysis to examine Twitter users' responses to a viral video depicting individuals disrupting traditional offerings at Mount Semeru, also investigates how Twitter as a social media platform influences public perception of religious moderation. The findings reveal three distinct response categories: opposition, support, and moderation, which contributed to digital conflicts. To minimize digital conflicts, especially intolerant responses on social media, there is a need to strengthen religious moderation on social media through education content grounded in Islamic scriptures (Quran and Hadith), Indonesian state ideology (Pancasila), and collaboration with religious authorities via digital media formats. The research demonstrates the significant role of social media in shaping public perceptions of religious tolerance in contemporary Indonesia.

This research uses library research or literature study; the research source focuses on books and articles related to the discussion. The result of this research is to find out that the decline of Islam occurred during the Abbasid dynasty, when there were various problems that caused Islamic civilization to begin to weaken and even decline. The decline of Islam was primarily caused by the Mongol invasion, which marked the Abbasid period's collapse. In addition, fragmentation and intellectual stagnation were also major factors in the collapse of Islam in the Abbasid period. While the progress of the Western World is inseparable from the history of Islamic civilization, which experienced progress and decline, the factors that became the main cause in the progress of the Western World are Renaissance and Humanism, which marked the beginning of the progress of the western world with the transition of social changes in society to massive. The Science Revolution, Industrial Revolution, Colonialism, and Imprealism are also important factors in the progress of the Western World.

Abstract

Mixed marriage and children's citizenship rights in Indonesia are increasingly becoming relevant topics in the midst of globalization and high social mobility. This study aims to analyze criticism of existing regulations and explore the need for more inclusive and responsive family law reform. The methodology used in this study includes a qualitative analysis of laws and regulations. The data collection techniques applied include a thorough literature study of various sources, including books, journal articles, and relevant legal documents. The results of the study show that the current laws, especially Law No. 1 of 1974 on Marriage and Law No. 12 of 2006 on Citizenship, are still inadequate in accommodating the rights of children from mixed marriages. Legal uncertainties regarding child citizenship as well as complex registration procedures lead to discrimination and hinder children's access to basic services. Therefore, comprehensive reforms are needed to ensure the protection of the rights of children and women, as well as to harmonize national laws with international standards. This research contributes to a broader discussion on the importance of family law reform to realize justice and welfare for all family members in Indonesia.
