Abstract

This research aimed to modeling chemical parameters in water, consist of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) in Awang River, at Hayaping Village, Awang District, East Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. Apart from obtaining BOD and COD values from laboratory and modeling results, this research also aimed to determine manning values and dispersion coefficient (D). The results of longitudinal and transverse measurements as well as the measured discharge were used as input for flow modeling using HEC-RAS 1 D. The discharge at the monitoring point from the modeling results was then compared with the discharge from the measurements, to determine the magnitude of the manning value. Next, water quality modeling was carried out to determine the dispersion coefficient value so that the distribution of BOD and COD parameters from the modeling results approached to laboratory results. From laboratory results, BOD values were obtained ranging from 5.8-9.0 mg/L and COD values of 4.58 mg/L, manning values of 0.03 and Dispersion coefficient values of D=0.277.

Abstract

In the coal mining industry environment of PT. Baramulti Suksessarana Tbk (BSSR), the issue of electrical energy quality receives special attention, particularly due to the use of non-linear equipment such as induction motors which trigger harmonics. These harmonics impact operational efficiency and affect equipment. This study aims to address this issue by designing a Single tuned passive harmonic filter, following IEEE standards, to handle the increase in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of current and voltage. From the initial analysis, the system's THD was recorded at 20.04%, indicating significant harmonic disturbances. With a specific harmonic filter design, including capacitor values, inductive reactance (XL), and resistors, this study successfully reduced the THD to 5.55%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the filter in reducing the negative impact of harmonics. The conclusion of this study highlights the importance of implementing passive harmonic filters in improving the quality of electric power in industrial environments, especially in the BSSR coal mine. This research provides essential guidance for practitioners in designing harmonic filters and contributes to improving the quality of electric power in the coal mining industry.

Abstract

Architectural design plays a crucial role in arranging the space and interior design of a cafe. The comfort of the facilities provided by the venue management is a key factor in determining the level of service satisfaction for visitors. Properly fulfilling the compatibility of facilities with user ergonomics will create a comfortable environment for activities in Lamteh District. In Ulee Kareng, Banda Aceh City, there is a cafe named Toko Kopi Kiri that serves food and drinks. The cafe is a popular spot for millennial residents of Banda Aceh City to stay in touch and socialize. However, the cafe's facilities are inadequate for long-term activities in terms of comfort, as observed in the field. This research uses qualitative methods to input data on the facilities and quantitative methods to process the data. The reference for this research employs literature studies on size standards. The research findings indicate that the facilities used at the Toko Kopi Kiri cafe do not meet ergonomic standards.

Abstract

The existence of quite tight competition in the automotive sector, especially workshops, makes customers more careful in choosing a quality workshop. The work system of the Bina Motor Services and Spare Parts workshop is classified as inefficient, because customers still wait quite a long time when carrying out motorbike services. Therefore, the aim of this research is to apply the 5Rs to create a more efficient and productive work system. The research method used is qualitative through observation and interviews to determine deficiencies in each stage of the 5S and the solutions. Implementation of 5R in the Bina Motor Services and Spare Parts workshop starts from the first stage, seiri, cleaning and disposing of unused items so that the work space becomes wider. The second stage, seiton, at this stage the activities carried out are grouping workshop equipment so that equipment is picked up more quickly by a mechanic. In the third stage, seiso, routine cleaning of workshop equipment from dust, dirt and oil is carried out. The fourth stage, seiketsu, there is a checklist so that the implementation of 5R is carried out continuously. In the final stage, shitsuke, there is a 5R poster put up to remind all Bina Motor Services and Spareparts workshop employees to always implement 5R in the workshop.

Abstract

The automotive industry in Indonesia is one of the priority industrial sectors that is developing quite rapidly. The automotive component production process in industry generally includes the molding process, welding process, assembly process, and automotive component quality control process. During the welding process, the ST-03 electroda used by PT ST-03 electroda repairs were carried out using a CNC Milling machine. The electroda repair process is carried out one by one with a total time of 120 minutes or 2 hours per day. The large amount of time required for the repair process makes loading parts hampered. Therefore, a jig machining design was carried out to speed up the electroda repair process. The ST-03 jig machining material used is SS 400 iron. The product design was carried out using CAD software and then simulated using CAM. The simulation results show that the use of jig machining can reduce production time by 98%or 118 minutes. This is because in one set up you can repair 20 electrodas so that in 1 day you only need to do 3 set ups. The profit obtained from using the ST-03 jig machining electroda is 166,500,000 rupiah per year.

Abstract

The quality of paving blocks is greatly influenced by many factors, one of which is sand as the constituent material. Sand has various types and different gradations based on grain size distribution. This difference in sand gradation is the focus of research to determine the effect of sand gradation on the compressive strength and absorption of geopolymer paving blocks made from fly ash. The geopolymer block paving mixture is made with a composition of 10M NaOH, a Na2SiO3/NaOH ratio of 2.5, an alkali activator/FA solution ratio of 0.4 and curing at ambient temperature. The test results show the influence of sand gradation on compressive strength and absorption. The highest compressive strength and lowest absorption values were obtained in the Z3-BP and Z2-AB mixtures. There is a relationship between compressive strength and absorption. The smaller the paving absorption value, the greater the compressive strength.

Abstract

Lhokseumawe was one of the towns affected by the 2004 tsunami. During the last tsunami, tsunami waves arrived last on the coast of Lhokseumawe compared to the western and northern coastal areas of Aceh. Therefore, this tsunami modelling study was conducted to determine the arrival time of tsunami waves onthe coast of Lhokseumawe city and to determine the affected areas from the tsunami inundation map information. The method used is tsunami numerical modelling using the COMCOT (Cornell Multi Grid Coupled Tsunami Model) model. The earthquake source used to generate the tsunami is a 9.15 Mw earthquake of the magnitude of the 2004 earthquake, 8.0 Mw and 8.5 Mw earthquake scenarios. Bathymetric data were used to provide information on sea depth and topographic data to provide information on land elevation in the study area. Observation points were placed on the coast to record when the waves reached the coast. The maximum tsunami height occurred in Blang Mangat subdistrict with a tsunami height of 5 m and inundation distance of 1 km. The arrival time of the tsunami in Lhokseumawe town was 75-80 min after the earthquake. This information on tsunami height and arrival time can be used as preliminary information for tsunami mitigation planning and rapid response in the event of an earthquakewith tsunami potential.
