Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the contribution of international trade to the economic growth of South Sulawesi Province. As one of Indonesia’s emerging regional economies, South Sulawesi plays a strategic role in trade activities, both in exports and imports. Using a quantitative approach, the research employs time series data from 2010 to 2023 and applies multiple linear regression analysis to assess the relationship between trade indicators such as export value, import value, and trade balance and regional economic growth measured by Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). The findings indicate that international trade, particularly exports, has a significant positive impact on regional economic performance. Conversely, import activities show a varied influence depending on the type and volume of goods traded. These results highlight the importance of strengthening export-oriented policies and improving trade infrastructure to sustain economic growth in South Sulawesi. The study contributes to regional development planning by offering empirical evidence on the trade-growth nexus at the sub-national level.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of project-based learning (PjBL) in the Creative Projects and Entrepreneurship subject at SMK Negeri 1 Pagerwojo and students' perceptions of the application of this learning model. The research methods used include a quantitative approach with data collection techniques such as observation, documentation, and student perception questionnaires. The results of the study indicate that PjBL has been implemented systematically through the stages of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The Lesson Plan (RPP), teaching modules, guidance sheets, and evaluation formats serve as guidelines for the implementation of learning. In terms of student perceptions, the majority of respondents gave very positive responses, particularly regarding learning motivation, competency understanding, interaction with teachers, time management, learning outcomes, and the suitability of the learning model to the characteristics of the subject. Based on the analysis, more than 40% to 80% of students placed their perceptions in the “Very Good” category. However, there are still some suggestions from students regarding the need to enhance active participation and individual assessment strategies for optimal results. This study recommends that the project-based learning model be maintained and further developed, not only in the Creative Projects and Entrepreneurship subject but also in other productive subjects

Abstract

Fierce competition in the e-commerce world encourages businesses to implement promotional strategies such as cashback and discounts to stimulate buyer interest. This study aims to determine the extent of the influence of cashback and discount promotions on online purchasing decisions, using a case study of the people of Makassar City. The method used was a quantitative approach through a questionnaire survey of 53 respondents actively using e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Tokopedia. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that both cashback and discount promotions had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, with discounts having a more dominant influence than cashback. The regression model showed that both variables together were able to explain 60.8% of the variation in consumer purchasing decisions. This finding indicates that consumers are more responsive to immediate discounts than to delayed incentives. The implication of this study's results is the importance for e-commerce players to prioritize discount programs in their promotional strategies, without ignoring the long-term benefits of cashback in maintaining customer loyalty. This research is expected to provide a foundation for developing consumer behavior-based marketing strategies in the digital era, especially in areas outside Java.

Abstract

The digital economic transformation has replaced conventional trading systems with an e-commerce model that is more efficient, flexible, and adaptive to market changes. This study aims to examine the influence of demand and supply variables on market equilibrium in the Indonesian e-commerce ecosystem using qualitative descriptive methods through a literature review based on secondary data from 2019 to 2024. The results indicate that digital market equilibrium is formed through direct, real-time interactions between demand and supply, driven by dynamic pricing algorithms. Consumer demand increases due to promotions, discounts, and easy access to information, while supply is adjusted based on stock availability, production costs, and pricing strategies. Price adjustments in e-commerce occur more quickly than in traditional markets due to the support of automated digital systems that maintain market stability and efficiency. These findings confirm that digitalization strengthens price elasticity and increases the efficiency of modern market mechanisms.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the direct and interactive effects of organizational culture and the physical-psychosocial work environment on employee performance within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), specifically in the traditional brick-making industry in Takalar Regency, Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative approach was employed using a cross-sectional survey. Data were collected from 150 employees across 20 brick-making units through structured questionnaires measuring organizational culture (adaptability, consistency, mission, involvement), work environment (safety, equipment, peer support), and performance (task, contextual). Data analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) to test the hypotheses. Findings: The results indicate that both organizational culture and work environment have significant positive effects on employee performance. Furthermore, a positive organizational culture was found to strengthen the positive impact of a conducive work environment on performance. The "mission" dimension of culture and "safety" aspect of the environment emerged as the most influential factors. Research limitations/implications: The study's cross-sectional design limits causal inferences. Future research should incorporate longitudinal data and expand to other labor-intensive traditional industries. Practical implications: Owners/managers of traditional SMEs should focus on building a clear, shared mission and values while critically investing in safer physical infrastructure and fostering peer support to enhance productivity sustainably. Originality/value: This study fills a critical gap by examining the under-researched context of informal, traditional manufacturing SMEs. It provides empirical evidence on how socio-cultural factors and physical conditions jointly influence performance in a resource-constrained setting, offering a nuanced perspective beyond mainstream organizational studies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of international trade on economic growth in South Sulawesi Province. In the context of increasing globalization, international trade has become a crucial pillar in driving local economic growth. Using time series data from 2006 to 2023, the analysis was conducted using a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach to understand the relationship between trade activity and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, as well as its impact on employment and community income. The results show a significant positive relationship between trade volume and economic growth, with sectors involved in international trade experiencing faster growth than other sectors. Furthermore, this study found that good infrastructure and supportive government policies play a significant role in maximizing the benefits of international trade. However, challenges such as commodity price volatility and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic also need to be addressed. These findings provide recommendations for economic policies to increase the contribution of international trade to regional economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the development strategy of STIEIMA's Small Business Incubator (SBI) by identifying internal and external factors that influence its performance. STIEIMA's SBI serves as a forum for fostering student entrepreneurship by providing production support, mentoring, operational facilities, and marketing access. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques in the form of field observations, interviews with managers, and documentation of operational activities. The results of the analysis show that the main internal strengths include ownership of production and brands, as well as low-cost supplier relationships. Meanwhile, significant weaknesses include an unstrategic location, limited facilities, short operating hours, and the risk of defective products. External factors indicate opportunities in the form of marketing digitalization and online store development, as well as the potential for collaboration with surrounding MSMEs. On the other hand, threats come from business competition around the campus and increasingly competitive online sellers. Based on the SWOT analysis, SBI STIEIMA is in a position that requires a development strategy through product diversification, digital marketing optimization, facility improvements, and strengthened operational management. This study emphasizes that the formulation of an appropriate strategy based on internal and external factors is necessary to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the incubation program in the campus environment.

Abstract

The STIEIMA Small Business Incubator is a campus facility that serves as a forum for developing student entrepreneurship through training programs, mentoring, and real-world business practices. This study aims to formulate incubator development strategies to enhance the competitive advantage of student tenants through a qualitative descriptive approach and SWOT analysis. Data was collected through observation of incubator operations, interviews with managers and student tenants, and documentation of sales activities and simple financial records. The results show that the incubator has strengths in the form of independent production capabilities and access to low-cost suppliers, but still faces weaknesses such as an unstrategic location, limited facilities, narrow operating hours, and the risk of defective products. Development opportunities lie in the digitization of marketing and the potential for opening online stores, while threats come from business competition around the campus and the increase in online sellers. Based on the SWOT matrix, the recommended development strategies include: optimizing digital marketing to expand the market, improving operational efficiency, diversifying products, and strengthening the management system and quality SOPs. This strategy is expected to increase the competitiveness of student tenants, strengthen the campus entrepreneurship ecosystem, and ensure the sustainability of the incubator as a center for academic-based business development.
