Abstract

Small and medium-sized furniture industries rely heavily on the reliability of production machinery to maintain consistent product quality and ensure smooth manufacturing processes. However, maintenance practices in the SME sector are still predominantly reactive, which can increase downtime, reduce product quality, and accelerate component wear. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) on modern wood planing machines at UD Mitra Usaha Ngunut, Tulungagung, through monitoring of temperature, vibration, and noise parameters. A case study approach was employed using observation, interviews, and documentation analysis. The results indicate that CBM implementation significantly extended component service life, as evidenced by an increase in planer blade lifespan from an average of 6 months to 8–9 months (33–50%), carbon brush lifespan by 25–30%, and armature, bearing, and fan belt lifespan by 20–40%, depending on operating conditions. In addition, CBM reduced average operating temperature by 8–12%, decreased vibration intensity by up to 30%, and maintained noise levels within safe limits. CBM implementation was also shown to reduce production downtime by up to 35% and improve maintenance cost efficiency. These findings demonstrate that CBM is effective in enhancing machine reliability and furniture product quality in small and medium-sized industries.

Abstract

In the manufacturing industry, especially those engaged in the machining process, the results of product quality and tool life are always the main focus of the industry. These factors can be influenced by the friction that occurs between the cutting tool or chisel and the workpiece during the machining process which will cause high cutting temperatures so that the cutting temperature problem must be resolved immediately. This study aims to analyze the effect of machining parameters and conditions on the cutting temperature in the milling machining process. Variations in machining conditions and parameters used include dry, flood, and air-cooling techniques; Spindle speed parameters 500, 800, and 1100 rpm; Feed rate parameters 60, 100, and 140 mm/min. The method used is an experimental method. The cutting temperature was measured using an infrared thermometer. The results of the analysis in this study indicate that the combination of variables in the milling machining process that obtains the most optimal response value to reduce the cutting temperature is the use of the flood coolant cooling technique, then a spindle speed of 800 rpm, and a feed rate of 100 mm/min.

Abstract

Student management is a systematic effort undertaken by educational institutions to manage student development from admission to graduation through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the context of Islamic education, student management plays a strategic role in shaping character and discipline through the internalization of religious values. This study aims to analyze the implementation of student management in improving the discipline of female students at MTs Assa’adah II, Gresik. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving stakeholders directly engaged in student development. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that student management at MTs Assa’adah II is implemented in a structured and integrated manner through the planning of religious habituation programs, the application of a violation point system accompanied by rewards and punishments, and continuous discipline evaluation. The integration of religious habituation with behavioral reinforcement mechanisms was found to foster disciplinary awareness among female students that goes beyond mere compliance with rules and develops into self-regulation. This study concludes that student management based on Islamic values effectively enhances student discipline and has the potential to serve as a practical reference for other madrasas in strengthening character education.

Abstract

Qur’anic education in Islamic boarding schools does not merely emphasize memorization achievements, but also requires leadership that is capable of fostering discipline, role modeling, and sustained spiritual commitment among students. In this context, charismatic leadership plays a strategic role in shaping students’ attitudes, motivation, and consistency throughout the Tahfidz Al-Qur’an process. This study aims to describe the implementation of charismatic leadership in enhancing the success of the Tahfidz Al-Qur’an program at Pondok Pesantren Putri Hafidzul Qur’an Gresik. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include the pesantren leader (ibu Nyai), male and female teachers (ustadz and ustadzah), and female students (santriwati). Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The data were analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing in order to obtain a comprehensive and contextual understanding of leadership implementation. The findings indicate that the charismatic leadership of the ibu Nyai is implemented through intensive direct engagement, personal communication, and exemplary conduct in religious practices and discipline. This approach contributes to increased consistency (istiqamah) among students in conducting muroja’ah and maintaining their memorization. Furthermore, the success of the Tahfidz program is not solely supported by memorization targets, but is also strengthened by complementary educational programs, such as the study of classical Islamic texts, which deepen students’ understanding of the meanings of the memorized verses. The implementation of charismatic leadership thus contributes to shaping students who are not only strong in Qur’anic memorization, but also possess moral and intellectual readiness to face contemporary challenges.

Abstract

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is a subtractive manufacturing technique that removes layers of material from a blank or workpiece to create a specific product. With increasing global competition, minimizing downtime during production is essential to maximize machine availability and productivity. This study investigates the application of machine learning models, specifically Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and Random Forest (RF), to forecast CNC machine downtime from multiple failure sources. The study uses data collected from 16 CNC machines at Company A in Malaysia over an extended period. The data contain key variables for each downtime event, such as machine ID, failure type, start date/time, end date/time, and downtime duration in minutes. Failure types are categorized into several groups, including mechanical, electrical, and tool malfunctions.  After hyperparameter tuning, the XGBoost model outperformed the RF model, achieving a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.4017, Root MSE (RMSE) of 0.634, and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.470 on the test set, while the RF model yielded higher errors, with an MSE of 1.2654, RMSE of 1.125, and MAE of 0.943. These results demonstrate the superiority of the XGBoost model over RF in predicting future CNC downtime, as indicated by its lower prediction errors. Future work should focus on refining the model with larger, more diverse datasets and exploring its integration into AI-based decision support systems to enhance machine availability and operational efficiency.
