Abstract

This study aims to analyze the artificial lighting system in the building to determine whether the resulting illumination levels comply with the standards set by SNI 6197:2020. The main issue addressed is the low lighting which affects visual comfort and user productivity. This research adopts a descriptive quantitative method with observational and simulation approaches. Primary data were obtained through direct measurements using a lux meter and by collecting room dimension data, while secondary data were sourced from national standards and related journals. Lighting simulations were conducted using Dialux Evo software to visualize and evaluate lighting performance in each room. The results show that most rooms have lighting intensity levels below the standard. For instance, classrooms that should have 350 lux only recorded a maximum of 120 lux. The simulations carried out aim to visualize lighting more accurately. This study contributes significantly to the evaluation of lighting systems to be more effective and efficient

Abstract

Monitoring and classification of forest land cover on small islands require accurate and efficient methods to support sustainable natural resource management. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Machine Learning algorithms, namely Classification and Regression Tree (CART), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random Forest (RF), in classifying forest land cover on Nusalaut Island, Maluku Province, and to compare their performance in terms of accuracy, efficiency, and computational resource requirements. The study utilized Sentinel-2 Level-2A satellite imagery from 2025, processed using the Google Earth Engine platform. Supervised classification was applied to four land cover classes, namely water bodies, built-up areas, open land, and vegetation. Model performance was evaluated using a confusion matrix to obtain Overall Accuracy (OA) and the Kappa coefficient. The results indicate that all three algorithms produced high classification accuracy, with SVM and RF achieving the best performance, attaining an OA of 98% and a Kappa value of 0.97, while CART achieved an OA of 94% and a Kappa value of 0.90. SVM demonstrated superior class separation for land cover types with distinct spectral characteristics, whereas RF was more robust to data noise. These findings suggest that Machine Learning algorithms, particularly SVM and RF, are highly effective for forest land cover classification in small island environments such as Nusalaut Island.

Abstract

The social forestry program through the Village Forest scheme aims to improve community welfare while ensuring forest sustainability. However, the socio-economic effectiveness of this program remains varied, particularly in island regions. This study aims to analyze the social and economic impacts of Village Forest management and to identify the factors influencing its implementation in Negeri Oma, Central Maluku Regency. This research employed a mixed-methods approach, involving a survey of 30 respondents from Social Forestry Business Groups (KUPS), key informant interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative approaches, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the Village Forest program has generated positive social impacts, particularly in strengthening social cohesion and mutual cooperation among community members, especially within non-timber forest product (NTFP)-based groups. However, the level of community participation remains limited and tends to be dominated by core group leaders. From an economic perspective, the program has not significantly contributed to household income, functioning only as a supplementary income source with limited business scale and low production efficiency. The main factors influencing program implementation include weak institutional capacity, limited business skills and market access, tenure conflicts—particularly in ecotourism development—and insufficient facilitation and external support. This study emphasizes that the success of Village Forest management is not solely determined by legal access to forest resources, but also by strengthening local institutions, scaling up economic activities, and ensuring sustainable market integration.
