Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential competency in 21st-century Natural Science (IPA) learning. However, science learning at the junior high school level is still dominated by a textual approach and minimal real-world environmental context, so that the development of students' scientific literacy is not optimal. This article aims to conceptually examine the strengthening of scientific literacy through field trip learning in peatland ecosystems in the science subject of grade VII of junior high school. The writing method used is a conceptual study (conceptual paper) with literature sources in the form of textbooks, accredited national journals, and reputable international journals. The literature was selected based on its relevance to scientific literacy, field trip learning, and peatland ecosystems. The analysis technique was carried out through synthesis and concept mapping. The results of the study indicate that field trip learning in peatland ecosystems has the potential to be a contextual learning approach that is able to integrate knowledge, scientific processes, and scientific attitudes, thereby strengthening the scientific literacy of junior high school students. This article is expected to serve as a theoretical basis for the development of environment-based science learning. Abstrak. Literasi sains merupakan kompetensi esensial dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) abad ke-21. Namun, pembelajaran IPA di tingkat SMP masih didominasi pendekatan tekstual dan minim konteks lingkungan nyata, sehingga pengembangan literasi sains siswa belum optimal. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara konseptual penguatan literasi sains melalui pembelajaran field trip pada ekosistem lahan gambut dalam mata pelajaran IPA kelas VII SMP. Metode penulisan yang digunakan adalah kajian konseptual (conceptual paper) dengan sumber literatur berupa buku teks, jurnal nasional terakreditasi, dan jurnal internasional bereputasi. Literatur dipilih berdasarkan relevansi dengan literasi sains, pembelajaran field trip, dan ekosistem lahan gambut. Teknik analisis dilakukan melalui sintesis dan pemetaan konsep. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran field trip ekosistem lahan gambut berpotensi menjadi pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual yang mampu mengintegrasikan pengetahuan, proses sains, dan sikap ilmiah sehingga memperkuat literasi sains siswa SMP. Artikel ini diharapkan dapat menjadi landasan teoretis bagi pengembangan pembelajaran IPA berbasis lingkungan.

Abstract

This research aims to: develop Google Sites-based e-learning media on the material of the excretory system of grade XI high school that is valid and suitable for use in the learning process based on the results of expert validation, biology teacher assessment, and student responses through the ADDIE development model. E-learning products are developed based on the analysis of the needs of teachers and students, then validated by material experts and media experts, and tested on students. The results of the study show that the development process has succeeded in producing learning media that is suitable for use. The validation of material experts in the final stage obtained a percentage of 95% with the category "Very Feasible", while the validation of media experts reached 98% with the category "Very Feasible". Teachers' assessments of e-learning showed a percentage of 91.25% in the "Very Good" category. The response of the students was also very positive, with a feasibility score of 96.87% in the small group trial and 93.84% in the large group trial. Thus, Google Sites-based e-learning is declared feasible to be used as an alternative learning media for Excretion System material in grade XI of high school. abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mengembangkan media e-learning berbasis Google Sites pada materi sistem ekskresi kelas XI SMA yang valid dan layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli, penilaian guru biologi, dan respons peserta didik melalui model pengembangan ADDIE. Produk e-learning dikembangkan berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan guru dan peserta didik, kemudian divalidasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli media, serta diuji cobakan kepada peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pengembangan berhasil menghasilkan media pembelajaran yang layak digunakan. Validasi ahli materi pada tahap akhir memperoleh persentase 95% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”, sedangkan validasi ahli media mencapai 98% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”. Penilaian guru terhadap e-learning menunjukkan persentase 91,25% dalam kategori “Sangat Baik”. Respon peserta didik juga sangat positif, dengan nilai kelayakan 96,87% pada uji coba kelompok kecil dan 93,84% pada uji coba kelompok besar. Dengan demikian, e-learning berbasis Google Sites dinyatakan layak digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran pada materi Sistem Ekskresi di kelas XI SMA.

Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka emphasizes the mastery of 21st-century competencies (4C), one of which is critical thinking skills. However, students’ critical thinking skills remain relatively low, as reflected by the decline in the PISA score from 396 in 2018 to 375 in 2022. Critical thinking skills are essential abilities that need to be trained so that students are able to analyze information, evaluate arguments, and solve biological problems logically. The development of digital learning media in the form of Guided Inquiry based electronic student worksheets (E-Worksheet) serves as an alternative to train these skills through the stages of Guided Inquiry. The circulatory system topic was selected because it includes various important concepts that tend to be taught theoretically and are not fully supported by practical activities. This study aims to examine the validity an effectiveness of Guided Inquiry based E-Worksheets in training students’ critical thinking skills. The study employed the ADDIE development model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages, involving 30 eleventh grade senior high school students as research subjects. Data were collected through expert validation and critical thinking skills tests. The E-Worksheets were considered valid and effective if each aspect achieved a minimum percentage of 75%. The results showed that the E-Worksheets obtained an average validity score of 100% (very valid), and critical thinking skills achievement of 92.61% (very effective). Based on these reslult, the Guided Inquiry based E-Worksheets is concluded to be valid and effective in training students’ critical thinking skills. Abstrak. Kurikulum Merdeka menekankan penguasaan kompetensi abad ke-21 (4C), salah satunya keterampilan berpikir kritis. Namun, keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik masih tergolong rendah, yang tercermin dari penurunan skor PISA tahun 2022 sebesar 375 dibandingkan tahun 2018 sebesar 396. Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan kemampuan penting yang perlu dilatihkan agar peserta didik mampu menganalisis informasi, mengevaluasi argumen, serta menyelesaikan permasalahan biologis secara logis. Pengembangan media pembelajaran digital berupa E-LKPD berbasis Guided Inquiry menjadi alternatif untuk melatihkan keterampilan tersebut melalui tahapan Guided Inquiry. Materi sistem peredaran darah dipilih karena mencakup berbagai konsep penting yang selama ini cenderung diajarkan secara teoritis dan belum seluruhnya didukung oleh kegiatan praktikum. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kevalidan dan keefektifan E-LKPD berbasis Guided Inquiry untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Penelitian menggunakan model ADDIE yang meliputi tahap analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi dengan subjek uji coba sebanyak 30 peserta didik kelas XI SMA. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi validasi ahli dan tes keterampilan berpikir kritis. E-LKPD dinyatakan valid dan efektif apabila masing-masing memperoleh sebesar ≥ 75%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa E-LKPD memperoleh nilai rata-rata validitas 100% (sangat valid), dan ketercapaian indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 92,61% (sangat efektif). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, E-LKPD berbasis Guided Inquiry dinyatakan valid dan efektif untuk melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik.

Abstract

The low science learning outcomes of grade IX B students at SMP Negeri 1 Waingapu are caused by the learning process which is still teacher-centered (conventional), the lack of use of interactive media, and the low active participation of students in understanding abstract concepts. This is evidenced by pre-cycle data where only 19% to 25.8% of students achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). This study aims to improve students' cognitive and affective learning outcomes through the implementation of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model assisted by animated video media and equipped with Anagram LKPD. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis & McTaggart model. The research subjects were 31 grade IX-B students of SMP Negeri 1 Waingapu. The instruments used included cognitive learning outcome tests and affective observation sheets. The results showed a significant increase in each cycle. In the cognitive domain, the average score increased from 56.77 in the pre-cycle to 64.19 in cycle I, and reached 75.48 in cycle II. The percentage of cognitive classical completion increased from 25.8% (pre-cycle) to 51.61% (cycle I) and reached 90.32% in cycle II. In the affective domain, the percentage of student achievement increased from 19.35% (less category) in the pre-cycle, to 70% (sufficient category) in cycle I, and reached 93.54% (very good category) in cycle II. Abstrak. Rendahnya hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas IX B di SMP Negeri 1 Waingapu yang disebabkan oleh proses pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru (konvensional), kurangnya penggunaan media interaktif, serta rendahnya partisipasi aktif siswa dalam memahami konsep-konsep abstrak. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan data pra-siklus di mana hanya 19% hingga 25,8% siswa yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif dan afektif siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share (TPS) yang berbantuan media video animasi dan dilengkapi LKPD Anagram. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis & McTaggart. Subjek penelitian adalah 31 siswa kelas IX-B SMP Negeri 1 Waingapu. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes hasil belajar kognitif dan lembar observasi afektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada setiap siklus. Pada ranah kognitif, nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 56,77 pada pra-siklus menjadi 64,19 pada siklus I, dan mencapai 75,48 pada siklus II. Persentase ketuntasan klasikal kognitif meningkat dari 25,8% (pra-siklus) menjadi 51,61% (siklus I) dan mencapai 90,32% pada siklus II. Pada ranah afektif, persentase ketercapaian siswa meningkat dari 19,35% (kategori kurang) pada pra-siklus, menjadi 70% (kategori cukup) pada siklus I, dan mencapai 93,54% (kategori sangat baik) pada siklus II.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the difficulties faced by seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Lubuk Sikaping in understanding the classification of living things due to the heavy memorization of scientific terms and the limitations of existing student worksheets (LKPD). This study aimed to develop a valid, practical, and effective LKPD based on the Plomp development model for the topic of Classification of Living Things. Data collection instruments included needs analysis questionnaires, validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and assessment instruments for attitudes and knowledge. Data were analyzed using descriptive percentages. The results of the preliminary investigation stage indicated a high demand for innovative teaching materials. In the prototyping stage, the LKPD was evaluated as highly valid (94.55%) by experts and highly practical through one-to-one trials (90.28%) and small group trials (89.02%). In the assessment stage, the LKPD proved highly user-friendly for teachers (96.98%) and students (87.86%), and demonstrated excellent effectiveness in the attitude (97.43%) and knowledge (100%) domains. Based on these findings, the developed LKPD meets the quality criteria for educational materials and is highly recommended for optimizing students' conceptual understanding and learning outcomes. Abstrak. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 1 Lubuk Sikaping dalam memahami materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup karena banyaknya hafalan istilah ilmiah dan keterbatasan LKPD yang digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan LKPD berbasis model pengembangan Plomp pada materi Klasifikasi Makhluk Hidup yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi angket analisis kebutuhan, lembar validasi, lembar kepraktisan, serta instrumen penilaian sikap dan pengetahuan. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif persentase. Hasil penelitian tahap investigasi awal menunjukkan tingginya kebutuhan akan bahan ajar inovatif. Pada tahap pembentukan prototipe, LKPD dinilai sangat valid (94,55%) oleh ahli dan sangat layak/praktis melalui uji one-to-one (90,28%) serta small group (89,02%). Pada tahap penilaian, LKPD terbukti sangat mudah digunakan oleh guru (96,98%) dan peserta didik (87,86%), serta memiliki efektivitas yang sangat tinggi pada aspek sikap (97,43%) dan aspek pengetahuan (100%). Berdasarkan temuan ini, LKPD yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria kelayakan kualitas bahan ajar dan sangat direkomendasikan untuk digunakan dalam mengoptimalkan pemahaman konsep serta hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup.

Abstract

Due to the limited use of interactive media, biology lessons on pollution and environmental conservation are still ineffective. The purpose of this study is to analyze the learning process, level of understanding, and student needs for interactive learning media on the subject of pollution and environmental conservation. A quantitative and descriptive approach was used. This study involved all 10th grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Tuban, and 34 students from class XB were selected as the sample. The data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively after being collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. The results showed that interactive learning media placed 70.59% of students in the high need category and 29.41% of students in the very high need category. The results indicate that interactive learning resources are essential to help biology students learn about pollution and environmental conservation. Abstrak. Akibat penggunaan media interaktif yang terbatas, pembelajaran biologi tentang pencemaran dan pelestarian lingkungan hidup masih kurang efektif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis proses pembelajaran, tingkat pemahaman, dan kebutuhan siswa terhadap media pembelajaran interaktif pada materi pencemaran dan pelestarian lingkungan hidup. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan deskriptif. Penelitian ini melibatkan semua siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 5 Tuban, dan 34 siswa kelas XB adalah sampel yang dipilih secara purposive . Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif setelah dikumpulkan menggunakan angket berukuran Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran interaktif menempatkan 70,59% siswa dalam kategori kebutuhan tinggi dan 29,41% siswa dalam kategori sangat tinggi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa sumber daya pembelajaran interaktif sangat diperlukan untuk membantu siswa biologi belajar tentang pencemaran dan pelestarian lingkungan hidup.

Abstract

The phenomenon of online gaming among students often gives rise to negative stigma regarding declining academic performance. This study aims to empirically test whether there is a significant difference (differentiation) in learning outcomes between students who actively play online games and those who do not. Using a comparative quantitative approach with an ex-post facto design, this study involved 44 students as samples selected through purposive sampling, consisting of 27 students in the active player category (Gamers) and 17 students in the non-player category (non-Gamers). Learning outcome data were collected through report card documentation and analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test statistical test with the help of SPSS. The test results showed that the average (mean) score for the group of gamers was 84.06, while that for the group of non-gamers was 84.53, with a very slight difference (0.47 points). Based on the t-test, a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.474 (p > 0.05) was obtained. These findings confirm that the Null Hypothesis (H0) is accepted, which means that there is no statistically significant difference in the learning outcomes of the two groups. This study concludes that online gaming activity is not the sole predictor of a decline in student achievement. This indicates that there is a factor of good self-regulation among students who play games in balancing their hobbies and academic obligations. Abstrak. Fenomena game online di kalangan pelajar sering kali memunculkan stigma negatif terkait penurunan performa akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empiris apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan (diferensiasi) pada capaian pembelajaran antara siswa yang aktif bermain game online dengan siswa yang tidak bermain game online. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif komparatif dengan desain ex-post facto, penelitian ini melibatkan 44 siswa sebagai sampel yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling, terdiri dari 27 siswa kategori pemain aktif (Gamer) dan 17 siswa kategori non-pemain (non-Gamer). Data hasil belajar dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi nilai rapor dan dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik Independent Sample t-test dengan bantuan SPSS. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata (mean) kelompok pemain game sebesar 84,06, sedangkan kelompok non-pemain sebesar 84,53, dengan selisih yang sangat tipis (0,47 poin). Berdasarkan uji t, diperoleh nilai signifikansi (Sig. 2-tailed) sebesar 0,474 (p > 0,05). Temuan ini mengonfirmasi bahwa Hipotesis Nol (H0) diterima, yang berarti tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik pada hasil belajar kedua kelompok tersebut. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa aktivitas bermain game online tidak  menjadi prediktor tunggal turunnya prestasi siswa. Hal ini mengindikasikan adanya faktor manajemen diri (self-regulation) yang baik pada siswa pemain Game dalam menyeimbangkan hobi dan kewajiban akademiknya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the necessity of Biology instructional media as a foundation for developing a digital learning ecosystem for tenth-grade students. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method. Data were collected through a validated needs-analysis questionnaire distributed to students of class X-F at SMA Negeri 5 Tuban and subsequently analyzed using descriptive percentage techniques. The results revealed that the average student need for instructional media was 75.86% (high category). Specifically, the highest demand was found in the visual and interactive media indicator at 78.8%, followed by practicum and field activities (78.4%), interest and attitudes toward Biology learning (76.9%), learning difficulties (73.3%), and the need for additional strategies and learning resources (71.9%). These findings indicate that students require not only visual and contextual learning media but also an integrated digital learning ecosystem. This study provides an empirical basis for developing adaptive, interactive, and sustainable Biology instructional media in the digital era. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan media ajar Biologi sebagai landasan pengembangan ekosistem pembelajaran digital bagi siswa kelas X. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner analisis kebutuhan yang divalidasi dan disebarkan kepada siswa kelas X-F SMA Negeri 5 Tuban, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik persentase deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata tingkat kebutuhan siswa terhadap media ajar baru mencapai 75,86% (kategori tinggi). Secara spesifik, indikator kebutuhan media visual dan interaktif menduduki persentase tertinggi sebesar 78,8%, diikuti oleh kebutuhan praktikum dan aktivitas lapangan (78,4%), minat dan sikap terhadap pembelajaran Biologi (76,9%), analisis kesulitan belajar (73,3%), serta kebutuhan strategi dan sumber belajar tambahan (71,9%). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa siswa membutuhkan media ajar yang tidak hanya visual dan kontekstual, melainkan juga dukungan ekosistem digital yang terintegrasi. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi empiris sebagai dasar pengembangan media pembelajaran Biologi yang adaptif, interaktif, dan berkelanjutan di era digital.

Abstract

Biology education in schools today still tends to be teacher-centered, and thus has not been optimal in fostering active student engagement and the development of critical thinking skills. This study aims to test the effectiveness of flipbooks as a teaching aid for the fungi unit in X grade high school. The method used was (Research and Development) R&D based on the 4D model, limited to the development stage. The resulting product was validated by a biology education expert and a biology teacher using a Likert scale, which was then analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The results showed that the expert validation score reached 85%, falling into the highly valid category, while the teacher’s evaluation was 72.6%, falling into the valid category. These findings indicate that the developed flipbook has a good level of feasibility and has the potential to be used as an alternative medium in biology education. Nevertheless, further research is needed to test its practicality and effectiveness. Abstrak. Pendidikan biologi di sekolah saat ini masih cenderung berpusat pada guru, sehingga belum optimal dalam mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dan pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan flipbook sebagai alat bantu pengajaran untuk unit jamur di kelas X SMA. Metode yang digunakan adalah (Research and Development) R&D berdasarkan model 4D, yang difokuskan pada tahap pengembangan. Produk yang dihasilkan divalidasi oleh seorang ahli pendidikan biologi dan seorang guru biologi menggunakan skala Likert, yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa skor validasi ahli mencapai 85%, termasuk dalam kategori sangat valid, sedangkan evaluasi guru sebesar 72,6%, termasuk dalam kategori valid. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa flipbook yang dikembangkan memiliki tingkat kelayakan yang baik dan berpotensi digunakan sebagai media alternatif dalam pendidikan biologi. Meskipun demikian, penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk menguji kepraktisan dan keefektifannya.

Abstract

Science learning, especially Biology in junior high schools, requires learning media that can help students understand abstract concepts and increase their engagement in the learning process. However, the use of learning media in schools is still less varied and does not fully meet student needs. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the need for digital learning media to support learning engagement of junior high school students. This study used a mixed methods approach with a concurrent triangulation design. The research subjects consisted of 32 seventh-grade students of UPT SMP Negeri 4 Tuban and one science teacher. Data collection was carried out through a learning media needs questionnaire and interview guidelines that had been validated through expert judgment by a Biology Education lecturer. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively using percentages, while qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the need for learning media was in the percentage range of 74.9%–82.2%, with the majority of aspects being in the high category. The aspect of media type preference obtained the highest percentage at 82.2%, while the aspect of media utilization and availability by teachers obtained the lowest percentage at 74.9%. These findings indicate that students need varied, engaging digital learning media that are technology- and innovation-based. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and optimize learning media that are tailored to student needs and school learning conditions. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan media pembelajaran dalam mendukung proses belajar siswa SMP. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VII H UPT SMP Negeri 4 Tuban yang berjumlah 32 siswa serta satu orang guru IPA. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket kebutuhan media pembelajaran dengan skala Likert dan wawancara dengan guru IPA. Data kuantitatif dianalisis secara deskriptif menggunakan persentase, sedangkan data kualitatif dianalisis dengan model Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari proses tahapan analisis data yang mencakup reduksi, penyajian, dan interpretasi hasil. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan media pembelajaran berada pada rentang persentase 74,9% hingga 82,2%. Aspek preferensi jenis media yang digunakan memperoleh persentase tertinggi sebesar 82,2%, sedangkan aspek pemanfaatan dan ketersediaan media oleh guru memperoleh persentase terendah sebesar 74,9%. Berdasarkan kategori tingkat kebutuhan, mayoritas aspek berada pada kategori tinggi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran sangat dibutuhkan untuk mendukung proses pembelajaran siswa SMP, khususnya media yang bervariasi serta berbasis teknologi dan inovasi. Oleh sebab itu, diperlukan pengembangan dan optimalisasi media pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa dan kondisi pembelajaran di sekolah.
