Abstract

The low level of students' independent learning and text analysis skills demands pedagogical innovation in the digital era. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a Generative AI-assisted Blended Learning model on improving students' Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) and Critical Literacy in Indonesian language subjects. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design was employed. The research sample consisted of 25 eighth-grade students at MTsS Puspa Bangsa, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire to measure students' SRL and an essay test to assess their Critical Literacy skills. The results of the Paired Sample t-Test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores for both variables (p < 0.05). The average SRL score increased from 62.40 to 81.60, with an N-Gain value of 51.06%, categorized as moderately effective. Meanwhile, the average Critical Literacy score increased from 58.20 to 83.40, with an N-Gain value of 60.29%, categorized as moderately effective. These findings indicate that the implementation of Generative AI-assisted Blended Learning significantly improved students' Self-Regulated Learning and Critical Literacy. The findings suggest that integrating Generative AI into Blended Learning can support students' self-regulation while strengthening their ability to critically analyze and evaluate texts.

Abstract

Regular physical activity is essential for the holistic development of elementary school students. While previous research suggests that gender might influence children's fitness, wellbeing, and enjoyment of movement, existing evidence often remains contradictory. To address this, the current study examined genderbased differences in physical fitness, psychosocial behavior, and exercise enjoyment among elementary students in Pasuruan Regency. Using a comparative crosssectional design, 150 purposively selected students (75 boys and 75 girls) were evaluated using the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale (PACES), the Prosocial Behaviour Questionnaire (PBQ), and the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI). Data analysis using the MannWhitney U test revealed no significant gender differences in activity enjoyment (U = 2317, p = 0.062) or psychosocial functioning (U = 2619, p = 0.464). However, boys significantly outperformed girls in actual physical fitness (U = 1538, p < 0.001). This study clarifies inconsistent literature by demonstrating that despite a clear fitness gap, boys and girls share an equal enthusiasm for exercise and gain similar psychosocial benefits. Practically, these findings emphasize the need for schools to implement differentiated physical education programs that accommodate specific fitness differences while leveraging students' shared enjoyment to foster equitable development for all

Abstract

This study analyzes how to Grade XII students used Gemini AI to create posters on the development of science and technology. A descriptive qualitative design was employed with 25 students at Al-Hikmah Senior High School, Surabaya. The data comprised 25 prompts submitted to Gemini and students’ responses to ten open-ended questions after the activity. The data were examined through reflexive thematic analysis, complemented by a descriptive reading of prompt length and components. The findings show that students used Gemini as an integrated production environment to locate information, formulate titles and copy, generate visual ideas, and revise designs. Their practices nevertheless formed a spectrum ranging from near-complete delegation to collaboration in which students acted as directors and editors. All students reported encountering limitations in AI outputs, particularly inaccuracies, overly general answers, visual mismatches, and typographical errors. They verified outputs through books, teacher-provided materials, articles, and websites, although the depth of verification varied. This study contributes the concept of dual learning: students learned the history of technological development while developing AI literacy through prompting, curation, verification, and creative decision-making. Gemini was most educationally productive when positioned as a dialogic partner subject to human judgment rather than as a substitute for student thinking.

Abstract

Academic Learning Time in Physical Education (ALT-PE) refers to the proportion of class time students spend actively engaged in motor tasks that align with instructional objectives. This study examined ALT-PE among elementary school students in Kraton District, Pasuruan Regency, and compared it across Body Mass Index (BMI) categories. A descriptive-comparative quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach was applied to 60 students in grades IV–VI, selected through stratified random sampling and divided evenly into underweight, normal, and overweight groups. BMI was assessed using a digital scale and a stadiometer, while ALT-PE was recorded through direct observation using a 6-second interval-recording technique adapted from Siedentop, Tousignant, and Parker’s coding instrument. Results showed an overall mean ALT-PE of 34.7%, significantly below the recommended 50% benchmark (p < .001; Cohen’s d = - 2.04). The normal-BMI group recorded the highest mean ALT-PE (44.2%), compared with the underweight (30.0%) and overweight (29.8%) groups. Welch’s ANOVA confirmed a significant between-group difference, F(2, 34.9) = 189.00, p < .001, and Tukey’s post hoc test showed that the normal group differed significantly from both other groups, while the underweight and overweight groups did not differ from each other. These findings suggest that nutritional status is associated with student engagement during physical education and support more inclusive, differentiated instructional approaches.

Abstract

Character education in the digital era necessitates proactive pedagogical frameworks that strengthen students' internal psychological capacities. This study aims to empirically examine the simultaneous and partial influence of spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence on the strengthening of Buddhist character. Employing a quantitative approach, the research involved 145 high school students across grades X, XI, and XII at SMA Ahmad Yani Binjai. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, with Buddhist character operationalized through the traditional Dasa Pāramī (Ten Perfections) framework. The findings reveal that both independent variables exert a positive and highly significant impact on character formation. Partially, spiritual intelligence contributes 38.91% to the structural model, functioning as the internal value orientation system, while emotional intelligence contributes 37.13%, serving as the essential self-regulation mechanism. Simultaneously, spiritual and emotional intelligence account for 76% of the variance in the strengthening of Buddhist character (F = 224.617, p < 0.001). The study concludes that robust character formation is not an isolated cognitive process, but rather the result of a complementary integration between spiritual meaning-making (moral knowing) and emotional regulation (moral feeling) to produce definitive moral actions.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize research findings on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically ChatGPT, in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning by examining its effectiveness, ethical issues, and implementation challenges in the context of the Independent Curriculum. The study used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines for 52 Scopus-indexed articles selected through a process of identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion. Data was extracted using an extraction sheet and analyzed through thematic qualitative synthesis based on three predetermined research questions. The synthesis results indicate that ChatGPT contributes to improving the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning by simplifying material, expanding access to information, supporting differentiated learning, and fostering student discussion and argumentation. However, its use presents challenges in the areas of information accuracy, the validity of religious sources, bias, hallucinations, academic integrity, and potential user dependency. ChatGPT implementation is also influenced by teacher readiness, student AI literacy, authentic learning design, institutional policies, and clear validation mechanisms. The novelty of this research lies in the development of an ethical-implementative conceptual model that integrates dimensions of learning effectiveness, ethical considerations, and ChatGPT implementation strategies in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning based on the Independent Curriculum. This model provides a more comprehensive framework for teachers, researchers, and curriculum developers to integrate AI responsibly without neglecting the validity of Islamic sources, the role of teachers, and the goal of developing student character.

Abstract

Social changes and technological advancements have expanded the educational environment for children while simultaneously increasing the complexity of parents’ responsibilities in providing direction, guidance, and oversight of their children’s educational process. Parental oversight should not be understood merely as the restriction or monitoring of behavior, but rather as part of a planned and ongoing educational process. This study aims to analyze parental control in children’s education by integrating the perspectives of Islamic Educational Management and Islamic Family Law. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were obtained through the identification, selection, and classification of literature relevant to parental control in children’s education, the controlling function in Islamic Educational Management, as well as parental responsibilities and authority under Islamic Family Law. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis through the stages of identification, comparison, and synthesis. The results of the study indicate that parental control is an educational management process that encompasses goal-setting, guidance, monitoring, evaluation, corrective actions, and follow-up. The integration of Islamic Educational Management and Islamic Family Law yields six characteristics of parental control, namely: educational, preventive, participatory, proportional, sustainable, and based on Islamic values. Islamic Educational Management provides a framework for control mechanisms, while Islamic Family Law provides a foundation regarding parental responsibilities, authority, protection, and the limits of parental control. Thus, parental control is understood as a planned, educational, proportional, and sustainable educational process that takes into account the child’s development, rights, and best interests.
