Abstract

Abstract

This qualitative embedded single-case study examines the integration of principal leadership, public relations (PR) strategies, and institutional crisis mitigation in strengthening Islamic Corporate Culture at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Salam, located in Magelang Central Java, Indonesia. Data were collected via passive participant observation, documentary analysis, and semi-structured interviews with six key informants (N = 6) selected across four functional tiers: executive leadership (School Principal), operational administration (Vice Principal for PR and Vice Principal for Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan), senior instructional staff, and student leadership (Ikatan Pelajar Muhammadiyah officers). Data rigor was maintained using NVivo 14 software and Lincoln and Guba’s trustworthiness criteria. The findings indicate that the principal operationalizes a hybrid leadership model synthesizing democratic decision-making, humanistic empathy, and spiritual role-modeling (uswah hasanah). PR management is driven by the ethical principle of Tabligh through dialogic engagement and digital branding, while crisis mitigation relies on proactive risk identification and values-aligned communication (Amanah). However, operational bottlenecks including decision making inertia, the absence of standardized SOP blueprints, and underutilized Business and Industry (DUDI) partnerships risk reducing Islamic culture to routine administrative rituals. To address these challenges, this study explicitly proposes an integrated tripartite managerial model that structurally aligns prophetic leadership practices, Tabligh-driven communication protocols, and Amanah-focused risk governance. This framework offers a practical blueprint to systematically transition Islamic organizational culture from superficial compliance into an all encompassing operational work ethic (Itqan) within vocational education management.

Abstract

This study examined differences in physical activity, physical fitness, and teacher character among educators in Pasuruan according to teaching level (elementary versus junior high school). Teachers serve as instructors, classroom managers, and role models; therefore, variations in student characteristics across levels may shape teachers’ activity patterns, fitness status, and professional character. A quantitative comparative survey design was employed with 150 teachers (75 elementary and 75 junior high) selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Physical activity was assessed with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, physical fitness with a 2,400-meter run test, and teacher character with a six-pillar character scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and the Mann–Whitney U test. Results indicated no statistically significant differences between the two groups for physical activity (p = 0.871), physical fitness (p = 0.944), or teacher character (p = 1.000). Teaching level therefore does not appear to be a primary differentiating factor. Integrated programs promoting physical activity, fitness, and character can be designed jointly for elementary and junior high school teachers. Future research should consider age, years of service, lifestyle, health status, and work environment.

Abstract

This study describes the physical literacy level of elementary school students and examines differences based on PE teacher certification status in Rembang District. Addressing the physical literacy crisis in the digital era requires quality PE teaching. An explanatory quantitative comparative design was applied to 700 students (grades IV–VI) from 25 schools (508 taught by certified teachers; 192 by non-certified teachers), drawn from a population of 2,800 students across 35 schools. Data were collected with an adapted Physical Literacy Questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene’s test, and independent-samples t-test. Overall physical literacy was categorized as Good, with 82% of students in Good to Excellent ranges (t(699) = 21.1, p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 0.798). No significant difference appeared between students of certified and non-certified teachers (t(698) = 0.759, p = 0.448, Cohen’s d = 0.064). Certification status is therefore not the primary determinant; teaching experience, teacher dedication, and school facilities appear more influential.

Abstract

In Islamic higher education, students encounter formal quality assurance chiefly through recurring academic and administrative experiences. This study investigated whether educational service quality and perceived institutional culture were associated with student satisfaction and loyalty, and whether satisfaction accounted for part of either association with loyalty. Survey data from 250 undergraduate Islamic Religious Education students at three Islamic higher education institutions in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The measurement model satisfied the stated reliability and validity criteria. Service quality was associated with both satisfaction and loyalty. Satisfaction, in turn, accounted for part of the association between service quality and loyalty. Perceived institutional culture showed a different pattern: it was directly associated with loyalty but not with satisfaction, and its indirect association with loyalty was not significant. Taken together, the findings point to a service-related pathway involving satisfaction and a separate culture–loyalty association. For quality governance, this distinction suggests that student feedback should inform traceable service improvements, while institutional values should be examined through their enactment in teaching, administration, communication, and leadership.

Abstract

This study examined differences in physical activity, physical fitness, and teacher character among teachers in Pasuruan Regency according to gender. A quantitative comparative survey with a cross-sectional design was applied to 150 teachers (75 male and 75 female) from elementary and junior high schools. Physical activity was assessed with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), physical fitness with the 2,400-meter Cooper run test, and teacher character with a scale based on The Six Pillars of Character. Mean physical activity scores were 975 MET-minutes/week for male teachers and 968 for female teachers. Mean fitness scores were 17.5 and 17.4, respectively, while mean character scores were identical at 39.1. Independent samples t-tests and Mann–Whitney U tests yielded p-values greater than 0.05 for all three variables, indicating no statistically significant gender differences. The findings suggest that shared professional demands and organizational culture may outweigh biological sex in shaping these outcomes. Schools and education authorities can therefore design inclusive health, fitness, and character-development programs for all teachers without gender-based differentiation.

Abstract

This study examined active lifestyle, physical fitness, and teacher character among elementary and junior high school teachers in Pasuruan. Teachers require adequate physical condition and positive character to perform effectively and serve as role models. A quantitative descriptive-comparative design was applied with 150 teachers. Active lifestyle was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), physical fitness through a 2,400-meter run or walk test, and teacher character via a validated character scale. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and one-sample t-tests in Jamovi. Results indicated that teachers’ active lifestyle exceeded the reference standard (M = 972 MET-minutes/week), while physical fitness remained below the expected standard (M = 17.4). Teacher character scored very high (M = 39.1). Although teachers demonstrated sufficient daily physical activity and strong character, structured exercise is still needed to improve fitness levels. Schools and education authorities are encouraged to support regular fitness programs that enhance teachers’ health, work motivation, and instructional quality.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education learning in senior high schools remains largely characterized by a cognitive-textual reductionist approach, resulting in the unsystematic internalization of religious and moral values. At the same time, the Qur'anic Generation Program implemented in Islamic boarding schools has not been structurally integrated into IRE instructional materials or aligned with the objectives of the Pancasila Student Profile (Profil Pelajar Pancasila/P5). This study aims to analyze the instructional needs, design, and evaluate the feasibility of an IRE learning module based on the Qur'anic Generation Program and oriented toward strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) combined with a mixed-methods approach. The participants consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and students at Emer Islamic Boarding School Senior High School. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings indicate that the developed module was rated as highly valid by subject matter experts, character education experts, and language experts, achieving an average validity score of 97%. It also received highly positive practicality ratings from teachers (93%) and students (94%), while the implementation phase demonstrated an excellent level of implementation (93%). The module integrates the Tilawah–Tadabbur–Tazkiyah–Tathbiq learning cycle with the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile within the context of an Islamic boarding school ecosystem. This study recommends the module as a valid, practical, and contextually relevant instructional resource for Islamic Religious Education to support character development in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This paper examines the historical development of madrasah in the Haramain and their contribution to the transmission of Islamic knowledge to Nusantara. It focuses on the Haramain as transregional centers of Islamic learning and on the intellectual networks connecting Mecca and Medina with Muslim scholars from the Malay-Indonesian Archipelago. The study employs a historical research method with a qualitative approach, using library research and historical-document analysis. Data were obtained from primary and secondary sources, including historical works, biographical literature, Islamic educational texts, and recent scholarly studies on the Haramain–Nusantara intellectual network. Historical criticism and contextual analysis were used to reconstruct the development of madrasah and examine their role in knowledge transmission. The findings indicate that economic patronage, political interests, theological considerations, and social factors contributed to the emergence and development of madrasah in the Haramain. These institutions developed organized educational systems, distinctive curricula, and teaching practices based on oral instruction, memorization, discussion, and writing. The study further demonstrates that the Haramain played a significant role in shaping Nusantara ulama (Nusantara scholars) through scholarly networks, teacher–student relationships, knowledge transmission, and sanad. The study contributes to a broader understanding of Islamic education by demonstrating that the Haramain–Nusantara relationship was not merely a process of knowledge transfer but also a dynamic process of intellectual exchange and reproduction.
