Abstract

Various instructional methods can be implemented by educators to encourage students to think critically, creatively, and innovatively. One approach that can be applied in the learning process is the use of learning resources that are capable of enhancing students’ skills and creativity, such as practicum e-modules. The development of a Chemo-Entrepreneurship–based practicum e-module in chemistry learning was motivated by the absence of practicum guides currently used in schools that incorporate Chemo-Entrepreneurship principles. Through the Chemo-Entrepreneurship (CEP) approach embedded in the practicum module, the chemistry content learned by students can be applied in laboratory activities to process materials into useful chemical products with economic value. This approach is expected to foster students’ entrepreneurial interest and inspiration through the learning process. This initiative is also aligned with the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes meaningful, contextual, and student-centered learning. The research problems addressed in this study are: (1) the validity of the developed Chemo-Entrepreneurship–based chemistry practicum e-module, and (2) the responses of teachers and students toward the developed Chemo-Entrepreneurship–based chemistry practicum e-module. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model, which consists of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research sample consisted of 33 students from class XII MIA 1 at MAN 4. The data collection instruments included interview guidelines for the initial analysis stage, validation sheets, and questionnaire sheets for teachers and students. Data analysis techniques were carried out using percentage formulas. Based on the validation results from three expert validators, the e-module obtained a percentage score of 81.4%, which falls into the “very valid” category. Furthermore, questionnaire responses from two chemistry teachers yielded a percentage of 92.3%, categorized as “very good,” while responses from 33 students of class XII MIA 1 resulted in a percentage of 75.8%, categorized as “good”.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven a significant transformation in the learning system in higher education. Gadgets, especially smartphones, have become the primary device supporting learning in the digital era. However, the high intensity of gadget use among students has also given rise to a phenomenon of dependency that has the potential to impact the quality of the learning process and outcomes. This study aims to examine the phenomenon of gadget dependency in learning in the digital era among students based on the results of previous research. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a library research type. Data were obtained from various scientific literature sources in the form of national and international journal articles relevant to the topic of gadget dependency and student learning. Data collection techniques were carried out through systematic literature searches, while data analysis used content analysis to identify and synthesize research findings. The results of the study indicate that gadget dependency among students impacts various aspects of learning, including decreased concentration, learning motivation, academic productivity, and the quality of social interactions. In addition, gadget dependency is influenced by low student self-control, less interactive learning designs, and a lack of digital literacy oriented towards the wise use of technology. Therefore, collaborative efforts are needed from universities, lecturers, and students to manage gadget use proportionally and productively. This research is expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions in the development of more effective and sustainable digital learning in higher education.

Abstract

This study is entitled “The Use of Formal Language Variety in Narrative Writing of Students at SMP Negeri 1 Samudera” and was conducted in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The study aims to identify errors in the use of formal language variety in narrative texts written by eighth-grade students during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research was carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Samudera in April 2025. A qualitative descriptive method was employed in this study. The data source consisted of narrative texts written by eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Samudera in the 2024/2025 academic year. The most common errors found in students’ narrative writing were the use of informal words resulting from spelling deviations, particularly in the use of the preposition di-. These errors were predominantly committed by students of class 8.3. Students in class 8.4 also made similar errors, mainly due to the use of non-standard spellings. These mistakes occurred because students paid insufficient attention to, and in some cases underestimated, formal writing conventions. Informality caused by vowel and consonant omission or substitution occurred less frequently; however, errors involving consonant substitution were highly prevalent, especially in the word “poto” instead of “foto.” This phenomenon is attributed to students’ habitual pronunciation of “foto” as “poto,” which subsequently influenced their written production. The factors contributing to informal language use in students’ narrative writing include: (1) vowel substitution, (2) vowel omission, (3) consonant substitution, (4) consonant omission, and (5) spelling-related distinctions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the systemic differences between Japanese beauty adjectives (utsukushii, kirei, suteki) and Indonesian ones (indah, cantik, bagus) and to formulate strategies for developing teaching materials based on contrastive findings. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with syntactic and semantic contrastive analysis techniques. Data were drawn from Haruki Murakami's novel Noruwei no Mori and contemporary Indonesian novels. The results show three main findings: (1) there are significant differences in contextual meaning distribution, although syntactic functions are relatively similar; (2) kirei has semantic ambiguity (clean vs. beautiful) not found in cantik; (3) suteki is more subjective and evaluative compared to bagus. Based on these findings, this study proposes a contrastive-based framework for teaching material development focusing on addressing specific difficulties of Indonesian students. The pedagogical implications can serve as a reference for Japanese language teachers in developing more effective and contextual learning materials.

Abstract

Effective teachers’ service delivery is critical for achieving quality education, yet many public secondary schools in Anambra State face challenges of low teacher motivation, limited innovation, and poor instructional outcomes. These issues may be influenced by the prevailing organizational culture within schools. The study adopted a correlational research design to examine relationships among school administrative practices, organizational culture, and teachers’ service delivery in public secondary schools in Anambra State. The population comprised 6,598 teachers, from which 660 were sampled using multistage sampling. Data were collected using three validated and reliable questionnaires. A total of 618 questionnaires were returned. Pearson Product Moment Correlation, analyzed with SPSS, was used to test hypotheses at the 0.05 significance level. The results indicate a very strong positive correlation between adhocracy culture and teachers’ service delivery in public secondary schools in Anambra State. Analysis of data from a sample of teachers (N = 618) revealed a high correlation coefficient (r = 0.868), showing that increases in adhocracy culture are strongly associated with improved teachers’ service delivery. Further hypothesis testing confirmed the statistical significance of this relationship, with a p-value (0.000) lower than the accepted significance level (0.05). Consequently, the null hypothesis was rejected, establishing that adhocracy culture significantly influences teachers’ service delivery in public secondary schools in Anambra State. The study concludes that fostering adhocracy culture in public secondary schools is essential for improving teachers’ service delivery, instructional quality, and student learning outcomes in Anambra State.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of sit-at-home on the business survival of foam manufacturing firms in Anambra State, Nigeria. The sit-at-home directive, predominantly observed in Southeast Nigeria, has disrupted economic activities, particularly in the manufacturing sector. The study focused on three core variables movement restriction, fear of violence, and loss of production time, and how they influence business survival. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and data were collected from 150 top-level management staff drawn from 12 foam manufacturing firms across the three senatorial zones of the state. A stratified random sampling technique was used, and data analysis was conducted using linear regression in SPSS. The findings revealed that all three independent variables had significant negative effects on business survival. Movement restriction was found to have a t-value of 10.606, standardized beta (β) = 0.631, and p-value = 0.000, indicating a moderately strong effect. Fear of violence had a t-value of 12.002, β = 0.674, and p = 0.000, suggesting a stronger relationship between security concerns and reduced business sustainability. The most influential factor, loss of production time, recorded a t-value of 13.043, β = 0.702, and p = 0.000, showing that operational downtime has the most critical impact on business survival. The study concludes that sit-at-home orders pose a serious threat to foam manufacturing firms in Anambra State. It recommends enhanced mobility for essential workers, community-based security systems, and flexible production scheduling to mitigate the adverse effects of sit-at-home directives on business survival.
