Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition aims to publish high-quality researches and outstanding creative works combining the broad fields of literature and linguistics on the same intellectual platform. Article contains field study, case study, library research, and others. The article must be relevant with current issues in the scope of oral tradition. Those different segments that will be featured in each issue of Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition are: (i) critical writings on literary, (ii) cultural and linguistics studies, and (iii) creative writings that include works of prose fiction and selections of poetry related to the oral tradition. Journal of Nusantara Oral Tradition invites scholars and writers to submit high-quality written works presenting original researches with profound ideas and insightful thoughts that could potentially inaugurate avenues to new perspectives in the fields of language, literature and culture.

Abstract

Minangkabau is one of areas Minangkabau is one of the areas in West Sumatra that still adheres to the culture of chanting to convey messages on certain occasions, especially at weddings. This study aims to describe the significance of the traditional marriage system in Minangkabau tra-ditional rhymes. This type of research is descriptive qualitative using the method of observing and note-taking techniques. Data analysis techniques in this study were carried out by means of qualita-tive descriptive analysis with semiotic readings according to Michael Riffaterre. The results of the study show that there is a customary marriage system in Minangkabau traditional rhymes related to the description of marriage customs, tests when they have lived a household life, the course of the wedding party, the nature of husband and wife and the provisions for dividing assets when divorced. In addition, the Minangkabau area has a series of traditional ceremonies that are unique or different from other regions. This research is expected to provide benefits as a vehicle to add insight regarding the customary system of marriage in Minangkabau for the community, parents and students. In ad-dition, this research is expected to be used as a reference for further research.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tradisi lisan masyarakat Desa Beji, mendekripsikan peran tradisi lisan masyarakat desa Beji sebagai modal sosial pelestarian hutan wonosadi dalam mitigasi perubahan iklim, dan merumuskan model pengelolaan hutam berkelanjutan berbasis kultur. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan antropolinguistik. Pengumpulan data dengan observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi lapangan. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa terdapat legenda dan mitos yang memuat nilai buruk yang perlu dihindari yakni: ghasab, zalim, dan dharar yang merupakan larangan dalam upaya melestarikan alam. Tradisi lisan yang berkembang di Masyarakat Desa Beji berperan mendorong terbentuknya modal sosial masyarakat untuk bertindak bersama dalam melestarikan hutan Wonosadi. Model pengelolaan hutan berkelanjutan dengan basis kultur memerlukan empat pilar yang saling berkesinambungan yang berkontribusi mendukung keberlanjutan hutan Wonosadi yaitu budaya, masyarakat, pemerintah, dan pihak luar. Nilai-nilai luhur dalam tradisi lisan masyarakat Beji dapat dijadikan sebgai pedoman dalam mitigasi perubahan iklim

Abstract

The background of this research is the division of the Minangkabau area in the Minangkabau tra-ditional pantun which will then be analyzed for its meaning based on the study of Paul Ricoure's Hermeneutics. This study aims to: describe the Minangkabau territorial division system in the Pantun Adat Minangkabau by N.M. Ragkoto. This type of research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. The data collection method used is the observing method and the note taking tech-nique. Data analysis techniques were carried out using descriptive qualitative analysis techniques with the study of Paul Ricoure's Hermeneutics. The research results obtained are as follows. Minangkabau territorial divisions in the book Pantun Adat Minangkabau by N.M. Rangkoto found six pantun data using Paul Ricoure's Hermeneutics study. The six rhymes are Luhak dan Rantau, Luhak Nan Tigo, Lareh Nan Duo, Nagari, Taratak Dusun and Koto, Luhak Agam. The Minangkabau area is divided into three, namely darek, rantau, and coast. Many darek and rantau areas are found, but for coastal areas they are not found because these areas are only described in Minangkabau customary taboos.

Abstract

Artikel ini dilatarbelakangi dengan adanya nilai-nilai pendidikan dalam Pantun Melayu seri Sastra Nostalgia redaksi Balai Pustaka. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pemgumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode simak dengan menggunakan teknik baca catat. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis hermeneutika Paul Ricoeur. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Nilai-nilai pedidikan yang terdapat dalam pantun orang tua seri sastra nostalgia pada antologi pantun melayu redaksi balai pustaka. Pada Antologi Pantun Melayu Redaksi Balai Pustaka didominasi oleh nilai-nilai pendidikan agama yang memuat penjelasan mengenai tauhid uluhiyah, uluhiyah merupakan bentuk penyembahan kepada Allah Swt. seperti beribadah, memohon ampun kepada Allah Swt. dan kegiatan yang bersifat mengesakan Allah Swt. kemudian disusul dengan nilai-nilai pendidikan moral, nilai-nilai pendidikan sosial, dan nilai-nilai pendidikan adat. (2) Pantun orang tua seri sastra nostalgia pada antologi pantun melayu redaksi balai pustaka sudah sesuai untuk digunakan sebagai alternatif bahan ajar siswa kelas VII SMP, walaupun ada beberapa data yang belum memenuhi aspek-apsek tersebut

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are important skills that need to be developed in students to face the chal-lenges of 21st century modern fantasy literature such as Harry Potter and traditional literature such as The Legend of Malin Kundang in developing students' critical thinking skills. With David Krech's qualitative narrative approach and social perception theory, it was found that Harry Pot-ter presented complex moral conflicts with universal values, while Malin Kundang taught moral lessons about family relationships and responsibility. This research also proposes a literature-based learning strategy that integrates local and global values to improve students' critical think-ing and cultural appreciation.

Abstract

Basically, the rhyme has a fixed and unchanging standard form. Pantun is an old type of poetry that is bound by abab rhymes, the number of 8-12 syllables per line, the number of 4 lines per stanza, 2 sampiran lines, and 2 content lines. The fixed form of the rhyme turns out to have variations. This study aims to describe the variations of rhyme writing in the anthology of Pantun Melayu published by Balai Pustaka. The research method uses content analysis. The results showed that there were variations in the number of lines, which resulted in variations in rhyme. The variation in the number of lines shows that there are 4 kinds of rhyme variants, namely 6-line rhyme, 8-line rhyme, 10-line rhyme, and 14-line rhyme. This variation in the number of lines gives rise to new variations of rhyme. The variations of the new rhymes are as follows: The 6-line rhyme has two rhymes, abc abc and aba aba. The 8-line rhyme has two rhymes, abcd abcd and abcb abcb. The 10-line rhyme has two rhymes: abcaa abcaa and abcde abcde. The 14-line rhyme has a rhyme abacdef abacdef.

Abstract

This study examines the depiction of Dewi Sri and Dewi Lanjar through a deconstructive intertextual approach with the perspective of ecofeminism in the oral tradition of Javanese folklore. Oral traditions are the main object of study because they are an important means of in-heriting cultural, ecological, and local values between generations. Dewi Sri is widely known in the agrarian traditions of Javanese and Balinese as the goddess of rice and fertility, who is wor-shipped through various rituals such as Ngarot—a fertility plea ceremony before the planting season. Meanwhile, Dewi Lanjar is respected through the oral traditions of the people of the northern coast of Java, especially in Pekalongan, through rituals and prayers on the beach to pray for the safety of the fishermen and protection from the dangers of the sea. Through intertex-tuality analysis, this study found that Dewi Sri is represented as a symbol of ecological harmony, fertility, and prosperity, showing the role of women as the guardian of the balance between hu-mans and nature. On the contrary, Dewi Lanjar, who in the narrative was initially portrayed as a figure full of sorrow, underwent a transformation into a powerful figure who was empowered in managing the relationship with the marine nature, reflecting women's resilience, transcendence, and adaptation to ecological challenges. The deconstructive approach shows that these two fig-ures form a relationship of meaning that complements each other, opening up space for new readings of the role of women in ecologically oriented Javanese culture. These findings enrich the understanding of ecofeminism in the folklore of the archipelago and affirm the importance of pre-serving oral traditions as a vehicle for ecological and cultural learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh cinta platonik dalam pantun berkasih-kasihan dari Pantun Melayu Redaksi Balai Pustaka yang kemudian akan dianalisis berdasarkan kajian Hermeneutika Paul Ricoeur. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan cinta platonik dalam pantun berkasih-kasihan Pantun Melayu Redaksi Balai Pustaka. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Analisis data dilakukan secara induktif dan dapat dianalisis selama proses penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu metode simak dan teknik catat. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan kajian Hermeneutika Paul Ricoeur. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah cinta platonik dalam pantun berkasih-kasihan buku Pantun Melayu Redaksi Balai Pustaka ditemukan sebanyak 126 data pantun. Cinta platonik tersebut digambarkan dalam 5 kategori, yaitu kategori kesetiaan, kebahagiaan, tidak ingin kehilangan, kerinduan, dan pengorbanan. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan dari 5 kategori pantun tersebut menyatakan bahwa masyarakat Melayu memiliki sisi setia, kebahagiaan, rasa tidak ingin kehilangan, rasa rindu, dan pengorbanan terhadap orang yang dikasihinya.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pupujian menjadi salah satu karya sastra Sunda yang harus dilestarikan. Selain menjadi warisan, dalam pupujian juga mengandung nilai-nilai yang mempengaruhi kehidupan. Penelitian ini menjelaskan tentang struktur lahir dan batin, serta nilai moral pada pupujian. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik. Pupujian yang ditemukan ada 43 judul pupujian yang berbeda-beda isinya. Pupujian yang dianalisis yaitu pupujian Mugi Gusti Ngahampura, Sapaat Nabi, Perihal Kapercayaan, dan Dawuh Nabi. Pada struktur lahir, pupujian tersebut terdiri dari empat, enam, 12, dan 19 bait. Diksi yang digunakan yaitu bahasa sehari-hari serta dapat dipahami oleh pendengarnya. Imaji yang terdapat pada pupujian tersebut yaitu imaji visual dan rasa yang dibuktikan dengan kata kongkrit. Gaya bahasa yang ditemukan yaitu gaya bahasa simile. Terdiri dari purwakanti yang memiliki pola a-a-a-a, a-a, dan a-b. Berdasarkan struktur batin, tema yang sering muncul yaitu nasehat. Rasa yang tercipta yaitu rasa takut dan sedih. Nada dengan sikap memberi nasehat. Amanat pada pupujian tersebut yaitu menasehati supaya ada di jalan yang benar. Nilai moral yang terkandung tidak terlepas dari moral manusia kepada Tuhan. Setelah dianalisis, pupujian “Perihal Kapercayaan” dipilih untuk dijadikan bahan ajar menyimak di kelas VII SMP berdasarkan kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Abstract: Ciamisan Batik is one of the unique cultural heritage in Sundanese Tatars, especially in the Ciamis Regency area, West Java. This article examines Ciamisan Batik through a contemporary socio-historical approach with an emphasis on historical dynamics, cultural identity, and the challenges of globalization. The study was conducted to explore how batik not only functions as a textile artwork, but also as a symbolic representation of the Ciamis community in responding to the changing times. The analysis was carried out by combining qualitative-ethnographic, multimodal, and cognitive onomastics approaches. This approach allows the decipherment of the meaning of names, motifs, and symbols attached to Ciamisan Batik while placing it in the context of today's Indonesian creative economy and cultural politics. The results of the study show that Ciamisan Batik represents a long historical trace of agrarian, colonial, and modern cultural interactions. At a contemporary level, this batik faces the challenges of commodification, industrialization, and changing global market tastes. However, on the other hand, Ciamisan Batik is also a means of cultural diplomacy, a medium for local economic empowerment, and the strengthening of regional identity in the midst of global homogenization. This research makes a theoretical contribution to the development of batik studies based on socio-historical cultural studies and offers a new analytical model that places batik as a living, dynamic, and open cultural text to reinterpretation.
