Abstract

Work-related fatigue is an important occupational safety and health (OSH) issue, particularly in the construction sector, which is characterized by high physical workloads and relatively long working hours. Fatigue can reduce workers’ concentration, alertness, and productivity, thereby potentially increasing the risk of occupational accidents. This study aimed to determine the relationship between working hours, age, and length of service and work-related fatigue among construction workers at the Oncology Building Construction Project of H. Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan, in 2026. This quantitative study employed an observational analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted from January 14 to April 25, 2026, involving 75 respondents as the research sample. In this study, working hours were operationally defined as the accumulated number of overtime working hours per week. The measurement focused on overtime working hours because the normal working hours of all respondents were relatively the same, resulting in insufficient variation for analysis. Data were collected using questionnaires, while the level of fatigue was measured using the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 59 respondents (78.7%) experienced fatigue. The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between working hours and fatigue (p<0.000; PR=2.18). In contrast, age was not significantly associated with fatigue

Abstract

Labor compliance with the use of personal protective equipment can reduce the chances of work accidents and work-related diseases. In the industrial sector, it can be seen that many workers are reluctant or even not wearing PPE at all, this is due to several factors such as comfort, discomfort is one of the main reasons why workers do not use PPE according to standards, both in duration and how to use. This study aims to determine the relationship between the comfort of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with the use of PPE in PT Tasma Puja workers in 2025. The research method used an observational analytical design with a cross sectional approach  on 119 respondents from a population of 170 harvesters using simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between comfort and compliance with the use of PPE with  a p value of 0.000. Most of the respondents are non-compliant and uncomfortable using PPE, so the lower the compliance of workers. The conclusion of this study shows that the comfort of PPE plays an important role in increasing worker compliance so that companies need to pay attention to ergonomics, quality, and comfort factors of PPE so that work safety increases and the number of work accidents in oil palm plantations can be reduced sustainably in the future. It is recommended that companies increase routine supervision and the application of sanctions and awards for workers, in order to increase the discipline of PPE use

Abstract

Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB) are drinks with added free sugars or caloric sweeteners introduced by manufacturers or vendors, such as carbonated soft drinks, sweetened packaged tea or coffee, packaged fruit-flavored drinks, energy drinks, and instant powdered drinks. This term differs from the broader "minuman manis" (sweet beverages) construct used in the 2023 Indonesia Health Survey (SKI), which also includes home-prepared sweetened drinks. SSB consumption among children is a public health concern because exposure during school age may shape long-term dietary patterns. This study aimed to identify, map, and synthesize factors related to patterns and behavior of SSB consumption among primary school students in Indonesia. A Systematic Literature Review following PRISMA 2020 covered publications from January 2020 to 22 August 2026 through four search pathways: PubMed/PMC-indexed discovery (12 records), GARUDA and SINTA-indexed national journal portals (11 records), publisher/DOI and scholarly-web discovery (13 records), and institutional repositories (5 records), yielding 41 records in total. After 13 duplicates were removed, 28 records were screened, 10 full texts were assessed for eligibility, and 5 studies were included in the narrative synthesis. Findings were mapped using the Social-Ecological Model (SEM) and study quality was assessed with JBI critical appraisal checklists appropriate to each design. The most direct evidence highlighted the school food environment, particularly availability and easy access to unhealthy beverages through canteens and nearby vendors, as the factor most consistently related to SSB consumption patterns. Individual factors such as taste preference, consumption patterns, and pocket money, as well as the home food environment, were also reported, although much of this evidence was contextual because four of the five primary studies used overweight or obesity, rather than SSB consumption, as the primary outcome. Interventions should prioritize healthier school food environments, improved drinking-water access, student education, and family engagement, while future longitudinal, multilevel studies should treat SSB consumption as the primary outcome.

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a serious chronic nutritional problem in Indonesia, with prevalence declining from 21.5% (2023) to 19.8% (2024) (Kemenkes RI, 2025), yet disparities across economic groups and regions remain wide. Objective: To synthesize evidence from the past five years (2021–2026) on socioeconomic, environmental, and maternal determinants of stunting among Indonesian children under five. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted following the PRISMA framework, searching Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, Google Scholar, and Sinta/Garuda. Included articles were limited to primary studies indexed in Sinta 1–4 or Scopus Q1-Q3, published 2021–2026, focusing on Indonesia; systematic and scoping reviews were excluded. Twenty-nine articles met the criteria and were synthesized narratively and in tabular form. Results: Socioeconomic determinants (maternal education, poverty, maternal employment) increased stunting risk by 1.2–2.2 times. Environmental determinants (inadequate hygiene, unimproved water sources) increased risk by 1.2–1.4 times. Maternal determinants, particularly chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant women (AOR 1.63) and low birth weight history (3.3 times risk), were the strongest predictors, while exclusive breastfeeding was protective. Conclusion: Childhood stunting in Indonesia results from a complex interaction of three determinant domains, requiring integrated nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions targeted at the poorest households and regions with the highest disparities.
