Abstract

One method of learning Arabic in Al Muayyad Islamic Boarding School Surakarta is the use of the direct method. This method emphasizes the practice of continuous conversation between teachers and students using Arabic without the slightest use of the mother tongue, both in explaining the meaning of vocabulary and translating. The purpose of the direct method here is to train the students to be able to communicate in Arabic. Arabic learning at the Al Muayyad Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta is implemented through muhadatsah learning/conversation practice (learning to talk/practicing dialogue), muthola'ah (learning to read), imla'/dictation (learning Arabic by dictating), and qowaid (nahwu shorof learning). The learning of muhadatsah, muthola'ah, and imla' is applied using the direct method while qowaid (learning nahwu shorof, namely learning about Arabic grammar) is carried out by the inductive method. Abstract

The subject of Islamic History is one of the Islamic education subjects taught at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri 2. However, the learning process is currently limited to transferring knowledge, making it seem dull. Additionally, the textbooks used by the 4th-grade female students have shortcomings, such as the lack of practice questions and a less engaging book design. Therefore, given these conditions, the researcher aims to find a solution to achieve the intended learning objectives. In this regard, the researcher, also an observer, is obligated to create an engaging, creative, and enjoyable learning environment for the students. One approach is by using the mind map learning method, where the teacher prepares and presents a colorfully designed map during the learning activities to capture the students' attention. The purpose of using this media is to stimulate the students' thinking and train them to extract wisdom and values from the learning material. Based on the data obtained from the per-cycle results, there has been an improvement in the learning process in two aspects: student engagement and the completeness of learning outcomes. In terms of student engagement, during cycle 1, 21 students were actively paying attention and asking questions related to the lesson. In cycle 2, there was an increase, with 32 students actively participating in learning. Regarding the benchmark for the completeness of learning outcomes, in cycle 1, 25% of the total students scored above 60. In cycle 2, this increased to 80% of the total students. This indicates that the mind map method can enhance student engagement in the learning process and improve the completeness of learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Think Pair Share model provides time for students to think independently, respond to other students, and share with their peers. The implementation of the Think Pair Share model is divided into three stages: Thinking, Pairing, and Sharing, allowing students to actively participate in the learning process and improve learning outcomes. This research was conducted due to the classical and less effective nature of the existing learning process. Student engagement was not maximized, leading to student fatigue and boredom with the course material. The purpose of this research is to improve the understanding and learning outcomes of students in the subject of Islamic History by applying the Think Pair Share cooperative learning model in Grade VII C at Darul Istiqomah Islamic Boarding School in Bondowoso. This study used a classroom action research design conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and documentation. Abstract

The history of humanity's quest for knowledge has given rise to unique and intriguing perspectives in the Western world, particularly concerning the debate between empiricism and rationalism. However, in contemporary discourse, the assertion "Experience is the Best Teacher" is being contested, notably by John C. Maxwell, who argues that experience alone is insufficient as a teacher unless it is evaluated. This article compares Western views with the Islamic perspective, asserting that the Quran is the highest source of knowledge. The primary focus is on the concept of "muallim" or teacher in the Quran, highlighting that Allah imparts all knowledge through the Prophet and other messengers. This research employs library research methods to establish theoretical and conceptual foundations. Findings reveal that a true muallim is a devout person who adheres to Allah, continuously teaches and learns from the scripture. In conclusion, the Quranic teacher plays a more profound role as a source of knowledge and spiritual guidance. The article proposes guidelines for modern muallims, including a belief in Allah as the source of knowledge, emulating the Prophet, avoiding harmful activities, and embracing beneficial teachings. Thus, understanding the concept of "muallim" in the Quran can serve as a basis for developing effective and meaningful teaching methods in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

The article discusses the concept of education found in the Qur'an, specifically in Surah Al-Alaq, and its relevance to the contemporary education context. Surah Al-Alaq is one of the early chapters revealed to Prophet Muhammad SAW, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and learning in Islamic teachings. By analyzing key verses in Surah Al-Alaq, we can understand the fundamental principles of education emphasized in Islam. Surah Al-Alaq begins with the words "Iqra," which means "read." This signifies the importance of reading, writing, and acquiring knowledge in Islamic teachings. In this context, the article reviews the concept of education in Surah Al-Alaq and relates it to contemporary educational principles. The findings of this research conclude that the verses highlight the concepts of reading, creation, and teaching as integral parts of education in Islam. These concepts are highly relevant to contemporary education, which emphasizes literacy, understanding of sciences, and moral education. Surah Al-Alaq also emphasizes that knowledge should be acquired with sincerity and obedience to God. In the context of modern education, these principles can be applied by developing a holistic curriculum that encompasses academic, moral, and spiritual aspects. Learning centered on Islamic values can also help shape students' characters and prepare them to be responsible members of society.Based on this research, the researcher provides recommendations to education practitioners to explore the wisdom and guidance from the Qur'an in shaping a better contemporary education system. Integrating Islamic values with modern educational principles can help create an empowering educational environment and guide learners to become knowledgeable and morally upright individuals.

Abstract

This study delves into the educational philosophy of Paulo Freire, emphasizing its humanistic roots and exploring its intersections with Christian, Marxist, existentialist, phenomenological, and personalist philosophies. Influenced by liberation theology figures like Gustavo Gutiérrez, Freire envisioned education as a tool for conscientization, aiming to cultivate critical awareness among the oppressed. Freire's humanistic approach faces criticism, particularly concerning the ambiguity of its goals and potential psychological disturbances. The research methodology is rooted in an extensive literature review, incorporating both primary and secondary data sources. Primary data stems from direct references relevant to the research topic, such as scholarly journals and articles, while secondary data is derived from existing literature to construct a solid conceptual framework. Appropriate data analysis tools aligning with research objectives are employed to systematically evaluate the collected information. This methodology aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the theories and concepts essential to the research. The outcomes and discussions underscore the fundamental disparities between Freire's humanistic education and Islamic perspectives. While Freire advocates for critical consciousness and social liberation, Islam centers its education on the Quran and Hadith, emphasizing moral and spiritual responsibilities as Khalifah. Islam interprets freedom as the pursuit of goodness guided by divine revelations, rejecting liberal interpretations. The study concludes by accentuating the stark differences in worldview and values between Freirean humanism and Islamic education, shedding light on the diverse philosophical foundations underpinning these approaches.

Abstract

As part of the learning resources, teachers bear the responsibility of creating a creative and enjoyable learning environment for students in the classroom, with the aim of stimulating their learning motivation. In this framework, the emphasized approach is the utilization of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, focusing on the full participation of students so that they can experience the learning process, connect it to real-world situations, and feel motivated. The expectation is that students can apply the acquired knowledge in their daily lives. This learning model encompasses a concept where teachers bring real-world situations into the classroom and encourage students to establish connections between the knowledge they acquire and its application in their daily lives. Therefore, the role of the teacher is to assist students in achieving their goals and engage more deeply with strategies rather than merely conveying information. One of the common issues faced by students in class 4H during Ushul Fiqh learning is a lack of concentration during the teaching process in the classroom. This can occur when the classroom environment lacks support, both in terms of cleanliness and comfort. Peer competition in the class, the physical structure of the classroom, both inside and during direct interactions with students, can also be contributing factors. In addressing these conditions, this research aims to find solutions to achieve the desired educational goals. The study employs a classroom action research methodology to enhance students' learning engagement and academic outcomes.

Abstract

With the development of science and technology, education in Indonesia continues to progress, and globalization is advancing. The goals of education cannot be achieved without a learning process within an educational institution. To attain perfect learning objectives, teachers need to innovate in their teaching methods. Jigsaw is a structured group work strategy based on cooperation and responsibility. In this research, the researcher employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. This strategy is appealing when the material to be studied can be divided into several parts and does not require a specific sequence of delivery. Based on the results and discussion of the research, the researcher concludes that the use of the jigsaw learning model is capable of improving the learning outcomes of sixth-grade students in the subject of Akidah Akhlak at MI PSM Gedoro Ngawi.
