Abstract

Green architecture is one way to create a house or building that is environmentally friendly. One element that can be applied to realize green architecture is by making efficient use of recycled materials and development efforts by paying attention to good environmental carrying capacity, namely the use of used materials can be one solution to overcome sustainability problems. One reaction to the environmental crisis is the emergence of the concept of green architecture or green architecture which leads to sustainable design and awareness of energy and ecology in managing an environment. This study examines the application of green architecture in the residence of architect Ridwan Kamil known as the Bottle House. The Bottle House is a house that is designed to have a balanced reciprocal relationship with its environment. The use of used bottles is one design idea that helps reduce waste in Indonesia and can also be an alternative material that is not only functional but also aesthetic. Creatively, the bottle house shows how art and design can influence people's mindsets.

Abstract

The Majapahit Surya Ornament is an ornament in the form of a sun decoration with a circular center and the outermost part forming the rays of the sun. The center is circular and has been divided into eight rooms with one room on the middle side. The Majapahit Surya Ornament is found in the Trowulan Museum and the Great Mosque of Demak. This ornament is a symbol of Hindu-Buddhist cosmology during the Majapahit era, which was adapted into a symbol of monotheism in the Islamic tradition during the Demak Sultanate. This study uses a three-form cultural approach: ideas, activities, and artifacts to analyze the transformation of ornaments in terms of philosophical meaning, social function, and physical form. The results of the study show that in the Trowulan Museum, this ornament is maintained in its original form to symbolize harmony and divine power, while in the Great Mosque of Demak, this ornament has undergone modifications in meaning and technique according to Islamic-Javanese values. This finding reveals the process of harmonious cultural acculturation between Hindu-Buddhist and Islam in Java, while also emphasizing the relevance of the Majapahit Surya ornament as a symbol of the rich and dynamic cultural heritage of the archipelago.

Abstract

This study uses the rhinoceros beetle as the main subject in creating realism painting art because of its unique shape and strong symbolism of courage and resilience. In addition to having aesthetic value, the rhinoceros beetle also plays an important role in the ecosystem as a decomposer of dead wood and contributes to maintaining environmental balance. On the other hand, the existence of the rhinoceros beetle has cultural value in Indonesian society, especially in myths and traditional symbols. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach, with the process of creating works involving visual studies and symbolic interpretations. A total of three paintings were created by highlighting the morphological details of the rhinoceros beetle realistically and inserting symbolic meanings in its visual composition. The results of the study indicate that the rhinoceros beetle can be a source of inspiration in fine art and function as an educational medium to increase public awareness of the importance of preserving local fauna, especially insect species that are often overlooked.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of librarians' personal competencies within the framework of the 4B concept (Beauty, Brain, Behaviour, Brave) at the Regional Library of Tulungagung Regency. The 4B concept was initially popularized in the pageant world but has since evolved into an approach applicable to service-oriented professions, including librarianship. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews with three informants: the Head of the Library and Archives Service and two female librarians who also serve as division heads. The findings indicate that each element of the 4B concept is evidently manifested in the personal competencies of female librarians. The beauty aspect reflects not only physical appearance but also personal integrity and efforts to create an appealing service environment. Brain is demonstrated through mastery of knowledge and librarianship skills. Behaviour is reflected in professional attitudes, empathy, and work ethics in service interactions. Meanwhile, brave is embodied in the courage of female librarians to take on strategic roles, lead innovations, and face challenges in the public sphere. These findings reinforce the perspective that female librarians possess capabilities equal to their male counterparts in terms of professionalism and play an active role in challenging gender stereotypes in the library environment. This research contributes to the development of a humanistic and gender-equality-based librarian competency model.

The method used in this research is descriptive analysis using qualitative data, with data collection techniques namely observation, interviews and documentation techniques. The subjects in this research were 4 people. The communication function of the lion dance art in Payung Sekaki District can be seen through the movements and appearance of the lion dance and the performers. Wushu martial arts movements and costumes from performers and lion dance. The entertainment function of the Lion Dance art in Payung Sekaki District is not only performed during Chinese New Year holidays, but also other events such as wedding parties, company inaugurations, and welcoming guests. The symbolic function of Barongsai art in Payung Sekaki District can be seen from several symbols of the Barongsai, such as the symbol of courage and strength marked by the beard on the Barongsai's chin and the symbol of prosperity and good luck marked by the ears and tail. The function of integrating the Barongsai art community in Payung Sekaki District certainly creates a sense of togetherness that exists between players and spectators, which indicates that there is community integrity in the Barongsai art.
