Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Information Technology (IT) in improving operational efficiency within e-commerce companies in Indonesia. A literature review approach was employed by examining various scholarly sources, including accredited national journals and relevant books. The findings indicate that the implementation of IT such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Big Data Analytics, and Cloud Computing significantly accelerates business processes, reduces operational costs, and enhances data accuracy and service quality. E-commerce companies that integrate IT into their operations are shown to adapt more effectively to market dynamics and consumer preferences. The study concludes that the use of IT is not merely a supporting tool, but a key factor in creating competitive advantage. The implications of this research offer insights for e-commerce industry players and policymakers to continuously promote digital innovation in pursuit of efficiency and business sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of time flexibility in the implementation of online-based learning on student academic performance in the Management Study Program, State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU). This study adopts a quantitative approach as the main method. Data collection instruments in the form of questionnaires were distributed to active students as respondents. The data obtained were then analyzed using simple linear regression techniques to illustrate the relationship between the level of flexibility of study time and student academic achievement. The results of the analysis show that the flexibility of study time has no significant effect on student learning outcomes, with a significance value of 0.315 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.027. This finding indicates that flexibility of study time is not enough to improve learning outcomes without being supported by time management skills, discipline, and learning independence. Therefore, effective online learning strategies need to be accompanied by soft skills training so that learning outcomes can be optimized. Future research is expected to integrate mediating variables such as self-regulated learning, learning motivation, and quality of learning environment to gain a deeper understanding of the determinants in the context of online learning.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has significantly transformed lifestyles, including those of students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU), particularly through entertainment platforms such as TikTok and Netflix. This study aims to analyze the impact of these platforms on students' lifestyles using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews and a Google Form questionnaire utilizing a Likert scale, with responses from 30 participants. Findings show that 73.3% of students actively use TikTok daily for 2–5 hours, while 26.7% actively use Netflix, often engaging in binge-watching. Around 70% reported experiencing disrupted sleep patterns due to late-night usage, and 63.3% preferred digital entertainment over face-to-face social interactions. Furthermore, 56.7% admitted to becoming more impulsive in their shopping behavior after exposure to promotional content and influencer-driven lifestyles. Overall, 83.3% of respondents acknowledged direct impacts from using TikTok and/or Netflix, including sleep disturbances, reduced social interaction, or increased consumerist behavior. These findings indicate a shift in students' preferences toward instant, individualistic entertainment, highlighting the influence of digital platforms in reshaping how students manage their time, maintain social relationships, and make everyday consumption decisions.

Abstract

The shift in digital technology has changed the behavior of consumers, including college students, in choosing purchasing channels that suit their needs and convenience. This study aims to analyze the relationship between gender and student purchasing preferences, both through E-commerce and conventional purchases. The sample of this study is 40 students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UINSU. The method used is the Chi-Square test with a quantitative approach. The results of the study showed that gender did not have a significant influence on students' spending preferences. Despite the difference in the number of male and female respondents who choose between conventional or e-commerce purchases, the Chi-Square test results with a significance value of 0.944 show no significant relationship between gender and shopping preferences. Thus, students' purchasing decisions are more of an individual choice, not influenced by gender.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pattern of household financial behavior in the face of rising prices of staples during Ramadan as well as, factors that influence the increase in prices of staples during Ramadan, and savings strategies that can be applied. This research uses a case study method with a qualitative approach to analyze the financial behavior patterns of Muslim families during Ramadan. The results of this study indicate that the increase in the price of goods during Ramadan has an impact on household spending patterns. Nevertheless, families can adapt by applying effective savings methods. The level of financial knowledge and the application of religious values play an important role in maintaining family financial stability. The adjustments made reflect strong economic adaptability. The austerity strategies taken not only demonstrate efficiency in economic management, but also highlight social values such as cooperation, shared responsibility and simplicity in spending.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between marketing strategies and customer satisfaction on e-commerce platforms in Indonesia. Effective marketing strategies are essential in facing intense competition in the digital world, especially in enhancing customer satisfaction, which influences loyalty and business sustainability. This research uses a quantitative survey approach involving 100 active users of Shopee and Tokopedia platforms. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The results indicate a positive and significant relationship between marketing strategies and customer satisfaction, with a correlation value of 0.673 and a contribution of 45.3%. Digital promotions, personalized services, and loyalty programs are key factors in improving customer satisfaction. However, customer service aspects require more attention to support overall satisfaction. This study implies that e-commerce platforms must continuously develop integrated marketing strategies alongside quality service improvements to maintain and enhance customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) are key pillars of economic growth, especially in Medan Timur. Their success is significantly influenced by the business owners' education level, which enhances managerial skills and market adaptability. However, the extent of formal education's contribution remains debated. This study analyzes the relationship between UMKM entrepreneurs' education levels and business success in Medan Timur, employing a quantitative case study approach with structured interviews. The analysis will identify correlation patterns between education and success strategies. Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) adalah pilar utama pertumbuhan ekonomi, khususnya di Medan Timur. Keberhasilan UMKM sangat dipengaruhi oleh tingkat pendidikan pelaku usaha, yang meningkatkan keterampilan manajerial dan adaptasi pasar. Namun, seberapa besar kontribusi pendidikan formal masih diperdebatkan. Penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan antara tingkat pendidikan pelaku UMKM dan keberhasilan usaha di Medan Timur, menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif studi kasus melalui wawancara terstruktur. Analisis akan mengidentifikasi pola keterkaitan antara pendidikan dan strategi keberhasilan. Diharapkan studi ini memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang peran pendidikan dalam keberhasilan UMKM, menjadi dasar pengembangan kebijakan dan program pelatihan yang efektif untuk meningkatkan daya saing usaha.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the relationship between income levels and consumer decisions in buying cooking oil. Data was obtained by sampling using the “proportional random sampling” technique with a sample of 40 respondents with a questionnaire as a data collection tool that had been prepared previously. The analysis method used is the Chi-Square test to test the significance of the relationship between income variables and purchasing preferences. Data processing was assisted by statistical package social science (SPSS) version 30. This research was conducted in May 2025. The research findings show that income has a significant effect on consumer decisions on the selection of cooking oil in the traditional market Simpang Limun Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the challenges and strategies of Management Study Program students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) in understanding online lecture materials. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of closed questionnaires distributed to 25 respondents of fourth semester students. The results showed that although there were still technical problems such as unstable internet connections, the majority of students were able to adapt to the online learning system. The most dominant learning strategies used are active and independent strategies, such as reading, taking notes, repeating material, watching learning videos, and managing study time. In addition, group discussions through media such as WhatsApp and Telegram also help clarify understanding of the material. Students also rely on learning materials provided by lecturers through digital platforms (PDF, video, and LMS) as the main source of independent learning. This study concludes that students' success in understanding online lecture materials is strongly influenced by a combination of active learning strategies, group collaboration, and material support provided by lecturers. Therefore, continuous collaboration between students, lecturers, and institutions is needed to create a more effective and inclusive online learning system.

Abstract

In the era of digitalization, payment methods are growing rapidly, especially in the shopping interest of Millennials and Generation Z is increasing, especially with the ease of access to information and products through social media, marketplaces, and other digital platforms, however, preferences for payment methods can vary depending on the factors that affect them. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Millennial and Generation Z spending interest in payment methods such as cash, debit, and QRIS. The study used a quantitative approach with survey techniques and interviews with 70 respondents in East Medan. The results show that Millennials tend to choose cash payments (57.1%), while Generation Z prefers digital methods, especially QRIS (47.1%). This analysis was assisted by using the Chi-Square test which showed a statistically significant relationship between generations and payment method preferences. The results of this study provide important input for business people and financial service providers in designing payment and marketing strategies that suit the characteristics of each generation.
