Abstract

Efforts to control Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) through breaking the chain of DHF transmission, namely preventing Aedes aegypti mosquito bites. This community activity aims to control and prevent DHF through Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) 3M Plus. DHF is still increasing and is a health dilemma. Lack of public enlightenment on preventing DHF through PSN 3M Plus activities is the cause of DHF continuing to increase every year. This Community Service activity was carried out using the Rapid Action method which was followed by the Community and the Family Empowerment and Welfare Group (TIM PKK) of Labuhan Sumbawa Village, Labuhan Badas District along with students of the Public Health Undergraduate Study Program in accelerating the optimization of the implementation of PSN 3M Plus which was carried out on Friday, January 10, 2025. It is hoped that there will be ongoing intervention related to the implementation of PSN 3M Plus in order to continuously strive for the active participation of the community and (TIM PKK) of Labuhan Sumbawa Village, Labuhan Badas District in carrying out PSN 3M Plus independently, especially in the 1 house 1 mosquito larvae movement. The community needs to be reminded of the importance of PSN 3M Plus which is easy, cheap, safe, and effective

Abstract

The Field Experience Practice Program (PPL) at SMK PGRI 13 Surabaya is designed to equip students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Dr. Soetomo University with direct experience in the world of education. This activity provides students with the opportunity to apply the theories learned in lectures to real-life situations, enhance their teaching skills, and understand the challenges in the world of education. For 1.5 months, students engaged in various activities such as classroom management, collaboration with supervising teachers, and group reflections. This program not only supports the development of professional skills but also shapes the attitudes and work ethics necessary for educators.

Abstract

This training aims to enhance the skills of students at SMA Budi Agung Medan in journalistic writing and becoming skilled news presenters. The method employed includes a participatory approach through intensive training, group discussions, and hands-on practice. The program provides an in-depth understanding of journalistic writing techniques, mastery of news language, as well as confidence and techniques for on-camera presentations. The training results show a significant improvement in participants' abilities, both in writing news articles according to journalistic standards and delivering news professionally. This training has a positive impact on students' communication skills while preparing them to face the challenges of the mass media industry.

Abstract

Dengue fever, malaria, and other mosquito-borne diseases remain significant health problems and challenges in various regions, especially in rural areas. Dengue fever (DBD) is caused by the dengue virus types 1-4, which are transmitted through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. The majority of the residents of Karya Mukti Village work as rubber tappers. They usually start their activities early in the morning or even before dawn. However, mosquitoes are most active in the morning and late afternoon, making the local community highly vulnerable to mosquito bites. To address this issue, the people of Karya Mukti Village still widely use mosquito repellents available on the market, which contain harmful chemicals that pose risks to both health and the environment if used over the long term. Therefore, this community service initiative aims to conduct outreach and hands-on training on the use of citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) as a natural mosquito repellent alternative. This program is carried out using a socialization and product-making approach through participatory engagement, where Dasawisma (women's community groups) are encouraged to identify their needs and challenges, as well as appropriate solutions to address them. By involving Dasawisma members in the learning and production process of natural mosquito repellents, it is hoped that they will gain better knowledge and skills in making natural mosquito repellents.

Abstract

Training programs are very important for futsal coaches to achieve goals and maximize the team's potential. Through training programs, coaches can design effective training sessions to develop individual and team skills and develop appropriate playing strategies. The main problem faced is a lack of understanding of exercise programs and skills in creating effective exercise programs. This training involved 37 participants and used a structured method, including pretest, education, theoretical and practical training, mentoring, posttest and evaluation. The aim of the activity is to increase participants' knowledge and skills in designing futsal training programs that are effective and suit the needs of athletes. The training results showed a significant increase based on pretest and posttest data, the percentage of participants who understood the training program increased from 40.5% to 94.6%. Improving the quality of futsal coaching in Jayapura City is expected to improve athlete performance and advance the development of futsal sports in Jayapura City.

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder, is characterized by persistent synovial inflammation, erosion of bone and cartilage, leading to joint destruction. It can attack the joints and other parts of the body such as tendons, ligaments, and bones. In serious cases, it can affect other organs such as the lungs, heart, nervous system, and eyes. Foot massage is effective to reduce pain. Before implementation of foot massage, the average pain scale was 6 (moderate pain). After implementation of foot massage the pain scale decreased to 2 (mild pain). Through empowering the elderly, the elderly are taught and assisted in performing safe and effective foot massage techniques to reduce pain, improve blood circulation, and reduce joint stiffness due to rheumatoid arthritis. The conclusion of this community service activity shows that the use of foot massage is effective for patients with rheumatoid arthritis who experience pain.

Abstract

Immunization is a strategic and cost-effective effort to reduce the morbidity and mortality of children in the world. Immunization saves around 2 to 3 million lives each year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, immunization coverage has declined dramatically. The number of children with incomplete immunization status has increased. This community service is expected to increase the knowledge of posyandu cadres about Tracking Children with Zero Dose and Missed Dose Immunization. The training provided by implementing modules and animated videos prepared by the Ministry of Health is effective in increasing the knowledge of posyandu cadres in the Alas Health Center Work Area, Sumbawa Regency. This shows that modules and videos are good media in conveying information to training participants. Increased knowledge of posyandu cadres after receiving the training materials provided, Knowledge of health cadres increased, a significant increase before training only 10% of posyandu cadres had high knowledge of immunization, while after training it increased to 90%.

Abstract

Adolescence is an important period for reproductive health because it is a period of behavioral formation, where at this time, teenagers begin to try new or challenging things, including in health behavior, one of which is free sex behavior. This free lifestyle behavior is greatly influenced by a correct understanding of adolescent reproductive health. The impact that can occur due to free sex behavior is early pregnancy or Unwanted Pregnancy. Adolescent pregnancy is one of the health problems that requires serious attention so that efforts are needed to increase awareness of reproductive health for all teenagers. The purpose of this community service is to increase the knowledge of teenagers at MAN Seram Bagian Barat about reproductive health and increase adolescent awareness in preventing early pregnancy. The method used is to provide education to teenagers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Seram Bagian Barat. Teenagers are very enthusiastic about this activity by asking various questions and the active discussion makes teenagers more enthusiastic. The final result is that 26 teenagers have good knowledge after being given education, from previously only 11 teenagers. The conclusion is that teenagers understand how to prevent early pregnancy in teenagers at MAN Seram Bagian Barat. It is hoped that good knowledge will prevent teenagers from engaging in free sex behavior that can result in pregnancy at a young age.

Abstract

Today's in digital era, graphic design skills have become one of the essential competencies, especially for students of Vocational High Schools (SMK) who are prepared to enter the workforce. However, challenges such as limited access to professional design software and a lack of adequate training often hinder students' creative development. Therefore, this training program is designed to enhance the graphic design skills of students at SMK Tri Sakti Lubuk Pakam by utilizing Canva. Canva was chosen as the main platform due to its ease of use, availability of various creative features, and accessibility in both free and paid versions. This program implements various methods, including theoretical and practical training, interactive workshops, and evaluation of students' design results. The activities will be conducted in stages, starting with an introduction to basic graphic design, exploring Canva features, and then applying them in creating various design works such as posters, promotional materials, and digital content. It is expected that through this training, students will improve their graphic design skills, making them more prepared to face the creative industry or develop their own business. Additionally, this program also aims to enhance the competitiveness of SMK Tri Sakti Lubuk Pakam graduates in the workforce and foster an innovative and creative culture among students.

Abstract

This community service activity (PKM) aims to improve the ability of teachers and students at SMP, SMA, and SMK in Negeri Weet to use the socrative platform or application as a medium for digital learning and assessment. The method used in this activity is the service learning method, which is divided into material presentation, interactive discussions, simulations, and training on using the Socrative application. In using this application in the classroom, teachers can provide quizzes directly to students, as it can be accessed using computers or students' mobile phones. This application not only helps students learn but also makes it easier for teachers to provide assessments. Using this application in the classroom also provides benefits, such as building good interactions between teachers, students, and classmates. This is supported by several features that facilitate teachers and students, including quick questions, space race, and exit ticket, polling, and discussion. Thus, activities in the learning space become more lively and enjoyable. This PKM activity involved 23 participants, consisting of 7 teachers and 16 students representing the three schools. The results of the activity show that teachers and students were very enthusiastic and active in following the material presentation sessions, discussions, simulations, and training. This activity had a positive impact on improving teachers' and students' abilities in using digital learning technology and assessment.
