Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in driving local and national economic growth. However, in the development of business spaces, environmentally friendly aspects of interior design often receive less attention. This research aims to increase MSME actors' understanding of the principles of sustainable and environmentally friendly interior design. The method used is an educational approach through training and workshops for a number of MSME players in the culinary and retail sectors. The material presented includes selecting environmentally friendly materials, managing natural lighting, cross ventilation, and energy efficient space planning. The evaluation results show an increase in participants' knowledge and awareness of the importance of implementing environmentally friendly interior design, which also has an impact on operational cost efficiency and improving business image. Thus, it is hoped that this program can encourage the creation of MSME business spaces that are not only functional and visually attractive, but also support environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to develop students’ visual art skills and strengthen the institutional image of Universitas Potensi Utama through the creation of a mural on the university campus. The mural was chosen as a medium due to its ability to convey educational messages, build visual identity, and enhance public spaces effectively. Involving lecturers and students from the Visual Communication Design program, the project was carried out in several stages: concept planning, sketching, coloring, and finishing. The final result is a 2.5 x 31-meter mural that illustrates the spirit of education, cultural diversity, and innovation. The outcomes of this activity include improved technical and collaborative skills among students, enhanced campus visual identity, and increased appreciation for murals as a medium of visual communication. Thus, this initiative not only contributes to the campus aesthetics but also serves as an effective institutional promotion strategy through participatory art.

Abstract

This service program aims to provide mentoring to students of SMK Negeri 3 Sorong through the utilization of mobile learning technology using the Thunkable application. Thunkable is a drag-and-drop-based platform that allows users to design interactive mobile applications without complex programming. The mentoring program was designed to enhance students’ digital literacy, foster creativity, and strengthen their understanding of subject materials through the development of self-made interactive media. The method employed in this activity involved a participatory approach, including workshops, technical guidance, and learning outcome evaluations. The results showed that students were able to develop simple applications tailored to their learning needs and demonstrated increased motivation and independence in the learning process. Furthermore, students gained hands-on experience in designing and implementing technology in practical contexts. This approach has proven effective in bridging the gap between the school curriculum and the technological skills required in today’s workforce. Therefore, using Thunkable as a mobile learning tool presents an innovative alternative in vocational education and training.

Abstract

Diarrhea remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among infants in Indonesia, especially in areas with limited access to clean water and sanitation. This community service activity aims to improve mothers' understanding of the signs and symptoms of diarrhea in children, raise mothers' awareness of maintaining their children's hygiene and health to prevent diarrhea, and provide practical training on the initial treatment of diarrhea. The methods used include interactive lectures, group discussions, demonstrations on making oral rehydration solution (ORS), handwashing practice, and distribution of leaflets. The participants consisted of 30 mothers of young children in Bangun Rejo Village, Tanjung Morawa Subdistrict. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test knowledge assessments. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge regarding the prevention and management of diarrhea. Participants were able to identify diarrhea symptoms, practice making ORS, and were more prepared to take their children to healthcare facilities if dehydration signs were present. This activity demonstrated that community-based health education is effective in enhancing mothers' knowledge and preparedness in preventing diarrhea.

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem caused by prolonged nutritional deficiencies during the critical first 1,000 days of life (HPK). This results in growth disorders in children, resulting in a lower height or shorter stature (dwarfism) than the standard for their age. Objective: To provide information to parents of toddlers about the dangers and impacts of stunting. Nutrition education is one of the main strategies in stunting prevention by providing the community with an understanding of the importance of a healthy diet. This education includes: the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months and the provision of appropriate complementary foods (MPASI), the introduction of balanced nutritious foods, especially animal protein, which supports child growth, and good hygiene practices, such as washing hands before eating and maintaining environmental sanitation. Abstract

This Community Service Programme was implemented to address the issues faced by Bank Sampah Anggrek's partners in Bendogerit Village, Blitar City. The main problems faced by the partners included limited variety of recycled products, simple waste processing techniques, and ineffective marketing strategies. Activities include socialisation, strengthening local partnerships, recycling training, and digital marketing assistance. As a result, members of the Waste Bank were able to create three new products: plant pots made from orange peels, carnival costumes made from fabric and plastic waste, and ecobrick furniture, and establish collaborations with two local businesses. The constraints of the Community Service Programme activities included limited production facilities, inconsistent participant attendance, low digital literacy, and competition with traditional waste collectors. This programme demonstrates that a waste bank-based sociopreneurship model can have economic, social, and environmental impacts while supporting sustainable waste management strategies. The programme was also successful due to its participatory approach, which actively involved Anggrek Waste Bank members in every step. Participants not only gained new information, but also acquired practical skills that can be used in the processing and marketing of recycled goods. This community service programme greatly helps to raise awareness of the importance of community-based circular economy. While reducing negative impacts on the environment, the sociopreneurship model can boost the community's economy. Bank Sampah Anggrek has the potential to develop into a centre for sustainable waste management innovation at the neighbourhood level by strengthening local capacity and opening up opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
