Abstract

The conclusion section is a compulsory chapter of a thesis and a dissertation. A good thesis or dissertation conclusion should tell the reader what work has been done and why the issue is being taken. The conclusion section of theses in the field of English language education is a form of a summary statement of the cases investigated. The summary is expressed with certain language expressions, indicating each of the 5-move of the section. The purpose of this research was to describe moves and language expressions of conclusion sections of theses written by the postgraduate English Language Study Program students of Bengkulu University. The study employed the descriptive quantitative method. The subjects of the research were 40 theses of postgraduate students of Bengkulu University which were selected purposively. The data of the conclusion moves were examined based on the five-move model proposed by Bunton (2005), and the language features were analysed based on Morley (2014). The results show that move 3 (Practical application/implications/recommendations embedded elsewhere) and move 4 (recommendations for future research embedded elsewhere) were used by 33 authors (88%) and 35 authors (77.5%) respectively. However, the move formats of the conclusion section were widely varied, nonconforming to Bunton’s model. The language expressions used in the majority of the conclusion sections have adhered to guidelines proposed by Morley (2014), but many authors tended to choose weaker language expressions to emphasize the points. This study concludes that five Move Models of the conclusion section proposed by Bunton (2014) have not been reflected markedly in most of the thesis conclusion sections written by the Postgraduate English Language Study Program students of Bengkulu University, although some moves have been written in suitable language expressions.

Abstract

This study concentrated on examining metaphor in three Katy Perry songs: Fireworks, Hot n Cold, and Roar. The data in this study were analyzed using qualitative research. According to the findings, there were seven different sorts of metaphors utilized in the three Katy Perry songs. Active metaphor, subjective metaphor, mimetic metaphor, phenomenalistic metaphor, precision metaphor, symbolic metaphor, and approximately metaphor were the seven types of metaphor employed and defined. Overall, based on our analysis, Katy Perry did an excellent job of conveying the idea of the song; she compares a condition of affairs to making it more exciting, and her usage of the word is more varied and broader.

Abstract

Grammar is one of the keys to learning a language and is not easy to do. Meanwhile, factors that influence English Learning do not only come from the teacher, but also from the students’ attitudes. One habit that can be a consideration in helping students master grammar is listening to English songs. The objective of this study was to determine if there is a relationship between students' habit of listening to English songs and their grammar mastery. This research was carried out at SMA Negeri 6 Kota Bengkulu, which was conducted on the twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Kota Bengkulu involving 31 students in the academic year 2021/2022. The instruments of this research were a questionnaire on listening habits and a grammar test. Research findings showed that the students had high intensity on listening to English songs also became one of their habits. On the other side, the grammar mastery of the students on average was categorized as low. Only a few students were considered to be high level in grammar mastery. Furthermore, the Pearson Product Moment correlation test revealed no connection between listening to English songs habits and grammar mastery.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a comprehensive model for career path development and work flexibility to enhance employee morale in the Lost and Found Department of PTJAS company.  This research addresses the growing need for adaptable career structures and flexible work arrangements as pivotal factors in improving job satisfaction and employee engagement. Data were collected using a mixed-methods approach, comprising surveys and interviews with employees in the Lost and Found Department. The survey data provided quantitative insights into employee satisfaction levels, while the interviews offered qualitative perspectives on the impact of career paths and work flexibility on morale. The analysis revealed a strong correlation between clearly defined career paths, flexible work options, and heightened employee morale. Employees who perceived clear advancement opportunities and enjoyed flexible working conditions reported significantly higher job satisfaction and motivation levels. Additionally, the findings suggest that implementing these strategies can lead to reduced turnover rates and improved organizational commitment. In conclusion, the study underscores the importance of integrating career development and work flexibility into the organizational framework to foster a positive work environment. These insights are crucial for HR professionals and management of the company aiming to boost employee morale and productivity.

Abstract

Understanding the impact of customer value and brand experience on repurchase intention, while optimizing service quality, is essential for ensuring sustainable business performance. This study examines the mediating role of service quality in the influence of customer value and brand experience on repurchase intention at PTNJM Bali Head Office. The research aims to determine the direct and indirect effects of customer value and brand experience on repurchase intention, considering service quality as a potential mediator. This study employs an explanatory research design with a quantitative approach. Data were collected from 100 respondents using questionnaires, observations, and interviews. A non-probability sampling method with purposive sampling was applied to ensure relevant participants. The collected data were analysed using SPSS Version 29 and Smart PLS Version 3 to assess the relationships among variables and the mediation effects of service quality. The analysis revealed that customer value does not have a positive and significant effect on repurchase intention, while brand experience positively and significantly influences repurchase intention. Additionally, service quality has a direct positive and significant impact on repurchase intention. However, the findings indicate that service quality does not mediate the relationship between customer value and repurchase intention, nor does it mediate the relationship between brand experience and repurchase intention. These findings suggest that while brand experience and service quality are critical factors in encouraging repurchase behaviour, customer value alone does not directly contribute to repeat purchases. Furthermore, service quality does not serve as an effective mediator in strengthening the impact of customer value and brand experience on repurchase intention. These insights provide valuable implications for businesses, highlighting the importance of enhancing brand experience and service quality to foster customer loyalty and long-term retention.

Abstract

In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, with appropriate socio-economic development policies, the economy of Vietnam in general, and Dong Nai Province in particular, has overcome difficult periods and achieved significant growth rates. This has led to a remarkable improvement in social welfare policies, contributing significantly to enhancing both the material and spiritual well-being of the community. This not only yields positive outcomes in ensuring the welfare of the people but also contributes to political stability and promotes economic growth. Therefore, identifying the factors affecting social welfare in Dong Nai Province, Vietnam today, and proposing solutions to leverage opportunities and overcome challenges in ensuring social welfare in the province, holds both theoretical and practical significance.

Abstract

This article proposes the fifth amendment to the 1945 Constitution by introducing quattuor politica to replace trias politica. So that national intellectual groups can play a full role in national development to overcome the stagnation in national capacity development. This state of stagnation has a broad impact on current development achievements. Among them, Indonesia's failure to become an industrial country and hampered mastery of science and technology. Scientific judgment of 79 years of national development policy, has been almost neglected. The conclusion be based on some facts and analysis of 79 year Indonesia's transformation as scientific phenomenon. This has an impact on Indonesia's current development challenges which are related to the improper application of scientific principles. Such as the failure to become an industrial country, still high number of corrupt practices, low achievement of current economy compared to China and Republic of Korea and high cost economy. It indicates that the role and contribution of the national intellectual community in the development is low and limited due to obstruction of trias politica practices. Introducing quattuor politica through the constitutional amendment is to enrich trias politica concept. It will empower the intellectual community as the guardian of the national capacity building by taking care of scientific principles consistently in developing the national development methodology. It is align with the mandate of Preamble of the 1945 Constitution, values of the second norm of Pancasila - Just and civilized humanity - and the nature of the practice of civilization. The principles of empiricism and the scientific phenomenon of civilization developments are the major premise of the research.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyse the relationship between interest and mathematics learning outcomes of class V students at SD Negeri 66 Bengkulu City. The type of research used is quantitative with correlation methods. The sample in this research was 50 students from class V of SD Negeri 66 Bengkulu City. Data collection techniques in this research used questionnaire techniques and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique uses the r test and the Pearson correlation test with the help of the Statistical Product for Servicer Solution (SPSS) 22 program. Based on the research results from the questionnaire for variable amounted to 0.279 and obtained a calculated r value of 0.843. So r calculated 0.843 > r table 0.279 so it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. From the results of the Pearson correlation calculation, it is 0.843, which means that the degree of relationship between interest and mathematics learning outcomes has a very strong relationship and the direction of the relationship is positive, which means that the greater the student's interest, the greater the value they will obtain and vice versa.

Abstract

Learning has an important meaning in the development of human resources. This research aims to determine the influence of social skills and interpersonal intelligence on student learning independence. This research is quantitative research. The sample for this research was 273 students of class IV Intermediate in Yogyakarta City, taken using Stratified Random Sampling. Data collection techniques using observation and psychological scales by designing instruments. The results of the research show that there is a significant influence of learning motivation and interpersonal intelligence on the learning independence of fourth grade students at SD Madya Yogyakarta with a calculated F value of 162.804, and a significant P value of 0.000 <0.05. The R square value is 0.547. This means that social skills (X1) and interpersonal intelligence (X2) simultaneously have a significant effect on learning independence (Y) by 54.7%. In conclusion, learning motivation and interpersonal intelligence have an important role in improving the quality of life of human resources.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine various educational theories that have developed over time and their relevance in the contemporary educational context. This research uses a document study or literature study method by analyzing various sources such as books, journals and articles related to educational theory. This research focuses on major educational theories, such as behavioral theory, constructivism, humanism, and critical and sociocultural theory, and how each theory contributes to the development of the modern education system. The results of the analysis show that each educational theory has different but complementary basic principles, and each provides a relevant approach to facing educational challenges in this digital era. Behavioral theory places greater emphasis on measuring learning outcomes through positive reinforcement, while constructivism encourages experience-based learning and problem solving. The humanistic approach emphasizes the development of individual potential, while critical and sociocultural theories encourage education to become a tool for social transformation. The conclusion of this research is that the application of various educational theories must be adapted to the needs of students, social context, and technological developments to create effective and relevant learning experiences.
