PENITI BANGSA (Pemanfaatan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi Bagi Masyarakat) is a journal of community services managed by the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya in collaboration with the Faculty of Agricultural Technology Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta. To publish articles of service that have been carried out to inspire and benefit the wider community. It is at the national and international level that covers a lot of common problems or issues related to community services, development, strengthening, and empowerment. PENITI BANGSA (Pemanfaatan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi Bagi Masyarakat) publishes articles on community service activities in the fields of appropriate technology, education, social, human resource development, health, and health as well as activities related to the utilization and application of science in society, emphasizing the benefits and sustainability of community service activities.

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology has developed rapidly and has changed many aspects of our lives, including education. As part of the Microsoft Office application package, Microsoft Excel is very helpful for learning and data processing in educational institutions. Microsoft Exceed expectations could be a computer program that forms information naturally counting fundamental calculations, the utilize of capacities, and others. Such a handle can be wasteful since it takes a long time to calculate. Prior to Microsoft Excel, people used to perform math operations using a calculator or even calculate manually using traditional calculating tools or relying on intelligence in calculations. Therefore, training and introduction to Microsoft Excel was conducted directly by conducting discussions with several students so that they can understand that calculation operations can be quickly done by using Microsoft Excel. by conducting this discussion, students can understand for themselves and try to operate Microsoft Excel according to what has been discussed.

Abstract

Turirejo Village, Gresik, faces challenges in delivering information to its residents. The lack of access to important information causes limitations in community participation and appropriate decision-making. The purpose of this service is to improve access to information and community participation in Turirejo Village through the creation of a village website. The methods used include needs analysis, design, creation, and training on the use of the website to village officials and the community. The result of this activity is the creation of a website that functions as an effective means of information and communication between village officials and the community. This website provides various important information such as village news, activities, announcements. In addition, the training provided to village officials and the community improved their ability to manage and utilise the website independently. Thus, this project not only created a digital communication tool but also empowered the community in using information technology.

Abstract

Cloud computing is a combination of computer technology and internet-based development. Cloud computing uses the term "cloud", or cloud, to describe the internet, which is often depicted on computer network diagrams. Cloud computing capacity is an information technology service that can be accessed via the internet without knowing the infrastructure behind it. This opens up the possibility of accessing and using technology more efficiently and flexibly. The development of information technology, especially cloud computing, has had a significant impact in various fields, including education. Cloud computing changes the way information technology is distributed and accessed, providing opportunities for educational institutions to access data and educational resources more efficiently and flexibly. It also helps educational institutions to focus more on core educational processes without having to manage technology infrastructure directly. Teaching about cloud computing is becoming increasingly important. Because through an introduction to the basic concepts, types, benefits and practical applications of cloud computing, students can understand the importance of this technology in the modern world. Thus, teaching and training measures such as those described in this study are expected to help increase the understanding and application of cloud computing among students, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving digital era.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the health problems because hypertension is one of the entry points or risk factors for diseases such as heart disease, kidney failure, diabetes mellitus, and stroke. The elderly have a higher risk of suffering from hypertension than those who are younger. With the highest risk of hypertension in the elderly, good and informative education is needed to prevent hypertension in the elderly. This study was conducted to determine the extent of the elderly's knowledge and satisfaction regarding information about hypertension provided by health workers at the Modopuro Health Center, Mojokerto Regency. The study was conducted by providing education to the elderly and then giving questions with the answer choices Yes and No to determine the extent of the elderly's knowledge about hypertension. There were 26 participants who were mostly elderly. . Overall respondents (100%) were satisfied with the health services related to hypertension at the health facility. Respondents' knowledge about hypertension is very good. This is shown in the distribution of correct answers above 75%. Among the ten questions asked by the author, there are still many respondents (23.1%) who still do not know that prolonged stress and excessive salt can also trigger high blood pressure. While in other question items, more than 80% of respondents have known various things about hypertension. Thus, this study succeeded in providing education about hypertension to the elderly at the Modopuro Health Center, Mojokerto Regency.

Abstract

Students of Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya (UWKS) from outside Java, particularly those from remote areas, often face difficulties in marketing their products online. Key challenges include limited access to information, low digital marketing and e-commerce literacy, inadequate technological infrastructure, and insufficient capital to develop online businesses. This community service program aims to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in digital marketing through training that combines education, discussion, and hands-on practice. Participants learned digital marketing concepts, product marketing strategies, and practiced creating and managing business accounts on the Shopee e-commerce platform. The results indicate an improvement in students’ ability to market products online, a stronger understanding of digital marketing strategies, and increased entrepreneurial motivation and potential. This program also supports wider market access for students from outside Java and promotes the equitable development of digital business across regions.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of Vocational High School (SMK) students in the field of Information Technology. The program also provides learning and practical experience for university students through direct involvement in the empowerment activities for SMK students at the Computer Science Society community, Puncak CBD Apartment No. 8D, Surabaya. The location and characteristics of the community offer significant potential for broadening students’ insights and increasing their knowledge of technological developments. The activity focuses on training participants to create simple web pages using HTML and CSS programming languages. The results indicate an improvement in students’ understanding of HTML and CSS. In addition, participants showed high enthusiasm and were able to apply the material in creating websites. This enthusiasm emerged because their schools had not previously provided instruction in HTML and CSS, making this training a valuable opportunity to gain new and relevant knowledge.

Abstract

Pinjaman Online atau peer to peer lending merupakan bagian financial technology yang mana keberadaan pinjaman online merupakan wujud kemajuan teknologi yang menawarkan kemudahan dan fleksibilitas bagi konsumen dalam mengakses pinjaman. Namun kemudahan ini turut memiliki konsekuensi negatif bagi konsumen yaitu adanya penagihan pembayaran yang membuat tidak nyaman karena sering terjadi pemerasan, intimidasi bahkan teror. Perilaku dari beberapa oknum layanan pinjaman online tersebut dinilai melanggar pasal 29 ayat 1 dan pasal 30 UU No 39 tahun 1999 tentang HAM. Selain itu juga UU No 8 tahun 1999 tentang perlindungan konsumen menyatakan bahwasanya masyarakat sebagai konsumen berhak mendapatkan perlindungan hukum Berbagai regulasi dari pemerintah termasuk POJK No 77/POJK 01/2016 perihal peer lending dan SEOJK No 18/SEOJK.01/2017 tentang manajemen dan tata kelola resiko teknologi informasi terkait pinjaman uang elektronik dinilai masih tidak secara efektif melindungi kepentingan konsumen dan perlindungannya. Sehingga masalah ini menjadi urgen untuk di sosialisasikan kepada masyarakat berupa penyuluhan hukum yang telah tim pengabdi lakukan di lokasi mitra. Penyuluhan hukum ini dilakukan di Balai RT. 02, RW. 05 Babatan Pilang, Kel. Babatan, Kec. Wiyung, Kota Surabaya yang mengangkat tema mengenai Dampak Permasalahan Pinjaman Online dan Perlindungan bagi Konsumennya. Sosialisasi hukum ini bertujuan memahamkan masyarakat luas tentang masalah yang sedang trend di masyarakat dimana sosialisasi hukum akan memberi banyak kebermanfaatan signifikan sebagai langkah pencegahan agar masyarakat di lokasi penyuluhan memahami dampak dari pinjaman online sehingga terhindar dari masalah tersebut Temuan dari sosialisasi hukum menjelaskan bahwasanya mayoritas masyarakat masih tidak memahami dampak dari pinjaman online sehingga dengan adanya sosialisasi hukum ini mendapatkan antusiasme tinggi dari para peserta Terutama ketika memasuki sesi tanya jawab. Sosialisasi hukum yang dilakukan pembantu meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat melalui penyampaian materi dari kegiatan sosialisasi hukum.

Abstract

Community Service in the form of legal counseling on the Role of the Community in Preventing and Handling Bullying aims to increase public legal awareness regarding the dangers of bullying and the steps that can be taken to prevent and handle it. Bullying, whether in the form of physical, verbal, or cyberbullying, has serious impacts on victims, including psychological and social disorders. From a legal perspective, bullying can be categorized as an act that violates human rights and can be subject to sanctions based on applicable laws and regulations, such as the Child Protection Law, the Criminal Code, and the ITE Law. Therefore, the community has an important role in creating a safe environment, including through education, prevention, and reporting to the authorities if a bullying case occurs. This counseling method uses Empirical Jurisprudence, participants are given an understanding of the forms of bullying, its legal impacts, and the role of the Community, family, school, and community in preventing and handling bullying cases. The community is expected not only to be a spectator, but also to play an active role in building an anti-bullying culture by providing support to victims, reporting perpetrators, and educating children and adolescents about the importance of mutual respect. With the active role of the community, it is hoped that the number of bullying cases can be reduced and a safer and more equitable environment can be created for all individuals.

Abstract

Lembeyan Hamlet, Doyomulyo Village, Kembangbahu District, Lamongan Regency has a well-functioning and clean simple drainage system. However, continuous community awareness and capacity-building are needed to ensure sustainable maintenance and development. This community service activity aims to strengthen residents’ technical understanding and encourage active participation in maintaining environmental quality through education and evaluation based on field surveys. The methods included surveying existing drainage conditions to identify development opportunities, preparing educational materials derived from literature and field data, conducting interactive community workshops, and assessing knowledge improvement through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed an increased understanding of sustainable drainage management, including rainwater control and domestic waste management to maintain drainage performance. The community also proposed development ideas such as simple infiltration systems and inspection wells. This activity supports Sustainable Development Goals point 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and point 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting sustainability values and community collaboration in managing local environmental infrastructure.

Abstract

The era of digital transformation has drastically changed the promotional and marketing landscape. Educational institutions, including Madrasah Aliyah (MA), need to adapt to these changes to be able to compete with other schools. Digital marketing, especially using social media, is not only uploading photos or videos, but requires an understanding of algorithms, content strategies, and data analysis to achieve maximum results. In addition, current artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities can assist in this process, from faster content creation, writing interesting captions, to targeting more specific audiences. Therefore, the community service (PkM) activity aims to improve the competence of the media and Public Relations team of Madrasah Aliyah Tahfidzul Qur'an (MATIQ) Banyuwangi in designing and executing effective school branding strategies on digital platforms and shifting from mere promotion to building a strong and sustainable institutional image. The results achieved from this PkM activity include (1) Improving the competence of the school media team in viewing social media as a strategic tool for building a brand. (2) Mastery of technical skills, namely compiling a structured content plan, creating more persuasive promotions by utilizing AI such as chatGPT or gemini.
